I think India have done well to take 2 wickets on this pitch. All we needed to do was see off the first 15 overs and then the Indian Team would have been in the same position as we were against SA last month... What we must certainly not do is give their part timers any wickets as that will be criminal

Nicely timed away to the leg side for 4 by Hameed.

50 up, two more wickets lost then I would have liked at this stage.

either this pitch is very uneven or we are making it look like a mine field

Moyo lets it rip for 4!

EDIT: Sorry, I am a pure paindoo. It was only 2.

Difference btwn Australia and all the other teams on full display. India have the upper hand but not piling enough pressure. Pak on the other hand have no intentions of dominating and rather just take all the pressure and let guys like Ganguly settle into a line!

As I say this, Yousuf shows signs of aggression.

im surprised they didn't appeal for that last ball of gangu's over.
They got tired of appealing for everything. Didn't think the day would ever come.

The beautifullest, elegentest cover drive you will ever see. Mohammad Yousuf lets it rip for 4.

Come on, don't use rip and elegant in same sentence.

And Kumble bowls Hameed with a beauty. Google.

kumble looked very dangerous in the leadup to this..

bit of a rash shot by hameed too.. well bowled..

Sorry.

Google? Do you mean Googly?

Pakistan for Petes sake what excuse will malik give if we loose, havent we done enough learning

Terrible shot.. Kumble's stock delivery ! Hasn't he watched Kumble bowl before ! This is his wicket taking delivery.

another one bites the dust .... what a pathetic start by the pakistani batsmen...

ok, im off to sleep.

hopefully when i wake up i will find pakistan at 323/4

M. Yousaf 123
Shoaib Malik 45

Pressure is always to be expected on the first morning of a test match. You have to be able to fight through it and give you team a good base. Alas, we haven't expected that from Pakistani openers in a long time.

just when i was about to type....if we don't lose another wicket until lunch it wont have been such a bad session.......Hameed goes and gets bowled. Thanks Yasir.

I think that is more likely to happen before you wake up. :)

Some things just dont change.
In Test matches...
in 1980s, we used to be 100/4
in 1990s, we used to be 100/4
in 2000s, we are 100/4 (hopefully)

Is the pitch really that hard to bat on? Or is Pakistan just at their best?

Nothing to do with the pitch.
Pakistan is one team that can easily lose wickets during the lunch break.

pitch is hard and ZAK bowled well. PAK batsmen haven't been that bad
Hmm, I am doubled minds here. Yes, Zak bowled well, that wicket of Younis was one of those deserved wickets. But Hameed could have preserved his wicket...

24.5 Ganguly to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, full delivery outside off stump, the ball seamed away from Misbah who came forward and reached out for it, the ball beat the outside edge and wasn't collected cleanly by Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Akmal

Malik not leading from the front as usual. Very disappointing!
If its not the 3 wickets, that really disheartens me. Malik used to be one of my favorite players, but after captaincy, he's just turning into an over obsessive defensive cowardly freak. Ok maybe thats a stretch, but its still sad to see a specialist batting captain bat at number 6.

the ball to S Butt was very good too(although the shot wasn't that special). Kumble decieved Yasir with a googly so i will say 70% good bowling+pitch issue and 30% bad batting.

The important thing is we have still got first use of this pitch which is going to crumble.

If we can get 325+....we will still be in with a good shout

I guess that's fair.

PP any idea what would be a good score on this pitch? And if the situation is taken into account?

With Shoaib playing, anything over 300 and Pak will always be in with a shout.

Yea, I think Danish should be able to make good work with it on Day 5?

Dry conditions = reverse swing + shoaib = potential havoc for the opposition.
