India Zindabad!!.... what time is the match starting...cricinfo says 10am indian time whcih can not be right..mach doesnt start that late... Sir Shoaib, please dont take more than 2 wickets..a request from your biggest fan :D

The pitch has a few cracks in some places and has grass cover in other areas. It might crumble on days four and five, it might not. But win toss and bat should be the way to go. And history says that the captain winning the toss has always batted at the Kotla. However, the teams winning the toss have won only five out of the 28 Tests, and lost ten.

damn..the biggest dillema. Stellar supporter of my country but my favorite bowler is Shoaib Akhtar! Here's hoping that Shoaib gets 10 wickets, but India wins the match!

9.00 am local time: Shoaib Malik and Anil Kumble, in his first Test as captain, are ready to toss. Kumble flips, Malik calls heads and it has fallen heads. Malik has no hesitation in batting first.

Pakistan are playing three fast-bowlers and just Danish Kaneria as the specialist spinner. They have included

Kumble says it's a "great feeling and an honour to captain India". He would have batted first too but he's OK with giving his fast bowlers use of the early-morning conditions. He says the pitch looks a little different from the one he took ten wickets on in 1999 but is fairly confident that it will turn later in the match.

India have left out Murali Kartik, Ishant Sharma and Yuvraj Singh, which means VVS Laxman will bat at No 6 and Munaf Patel will share the new ball.

Hi guys, I have a good feeling about this test series, Pakistan is clearly a better side on the paper, let's see if they could really bring it this time, as always I am staying positive and have a good feeling that Pakistan will win this series, they better......
 
I am shocked that Kumble decided to drop Yuvraj, what was he smoking? anyways did us a huge favour.

No...India is better side on the paper....just look at their batting!!!!
 
Atleast the first (very important) thing: toss went for us.
A reasonable (preferably huge) score in the first innings will be the key. Lets hope they score in excess of 450.

What a shame Kamran Akmal is playing. I don't care even if he performs in this test this guy does not deserve a spot in this team right now.
 
if ganguly fails yuvraj will play the next test. i dont think laxman will be replaced
 
A good news and a bad one.
Good one: Misbah is playing instead of the bhanja.
Bad news: Sarfraz misses out and Kami is in (what the hell is Shoaib thinking?)

you cant expect a complete noob keeper sarfraz to be thrown into a 5day match, despite his good performance in the last odi. itd be stupid to do that..

I am really really happy for Tanvir! And glad we didn't go in with 2 spinners and 2 quickies.

Nice that we won the toss. Now its time to put a big total on the board. Ball will do a bit for the first hour so Butt and Hameed will have to be watchfull.
 
Aah crap Akmal is playing!

Pakistan batting, that is good. How is the pitch? Good descion?

keeping for 50 overs is different to keeping for tests, what if sarfraz failed? his career would receive a massive jolt.. and he hasnt even batted yet.. how do u know how good a batsmen he is?

kamran has experience in tests, he won a match for pakistan against india with that century..

obviously sarfraz may get a chance in tests but let him play few more odis first dont u think?

Let him get a bit more experience at the international level first. Play him in a few ODIs....let him get use to keeping to the likes to Akhtar, Gul etc.

Having said that....I have a feeling Kamran is going to drop Dravid when he is on 12.

Well catches win you matches the quality of kamran's keeping is so bad not only bad he is consistent with his bad performances and at some point you have to make a decission.
 
Just watched the pitch report by Yardley and Arun Lal.....
Typical Kumble type wicket.....

I remember Yousaf's comments about Kumble in an ineterview....he said; "Gandi wicket ka bowler hai"....

I think, he got a gandi wicket for his 1st test as captain!!
It has cracks and cracks will widen as the time passes.
 
Hope we get off to a good, solid start.

Salman and Yasir need to not fish, just rotate the strike, and get to 50-0 then maybe accelerate a bit if they have been going slowly.

The longer we keep Younis and Yousuf in the pavillion the better it is for them.

Sorry I beg to differ W63L35, India's batting is good, In fact I believe that they probably have the best batting line up in the world, but this is the test cricket, a whole different ball game, and in test cricket, you only manage to win games with your bowling, Pakistan have proven bowlers, who can take wickets with their longer spells where as India is going with Munaf patel, Zaheer khan, Bhaji, and Kumble, Only kumble is up to the mark in test cricket, but we dont know how good a form is he in? No doubt India's batting is good, but we have Moyo, Yk, Salman butt,and malik, all dancing to their own rhythm, so I say we are definitely a better side on the paper.
 
Pakistan openers need to play cautiously first hour since India have only two seamers, and once spinner come to bowl with new ball, Pakistani opener should attack them before they settle down.
 
Btw guys, has Malik made the right descion to bat first? And how will the pitch play out?

A Mellow Dramatic music plays in the back ground as the two long lost brothers get united and then they take on the gang of a 1000 men, beat all of them to pulp/kill them without getting a scratch on them and then go on and marry their two long lost cousins...The End!

yeah the usual Delhi early morning fog coupled with a bit of dust and pollution + sunlight giving it the brownish tinge lol. It'll be fine in an hour or two

there's plenty of movement around. they both need to get their speed up.
 
130K bowling from Munaf ... That can barely be called fast bowling.



bro they are just there to open the bowling attack...they have no intention of getting any wickets etc...ager wicket mil gayi to theek, na mili to who cares...:):)

Munaf is the best bowler in the world. Just wait until he gets into a rythm. You will see.

openers fail to set a platform as usual.
 
Khan to Salman Butt, OUT, bowled him! Zahher gets the ball to cut back into the left-hander off the pitch after angling it away from him, Butt was caught on his crease and tried to cut, the ball was far too close for the shot and went under the bat and crashed into the stumps, it kept a trifle low as well

Good that the ball is already keeping low in the 5th over

butt bowled zaheer.
 
Just when you think guys like butt have developed some sense...the guy tries to a cut a ball cutting into middle stump and gets bowled. Slightest lateral movement of the ball and these guys start looking like chumps.

And but pulled one off his bud............I am not being negative but with the amount of cricket these guys play cant you stay on the wicket for a decent hour..................
