5th balls single...

Oh no no no no... Rahul is not interested in statin not out, He is going after runs and in style!

No it isn't. This is a pathetic display by India's batsmen.
We can still hope that India's bowling attack will get them out of prison though, but this is rubbish batting.
Yashasvi Jaiswal? Seriously? Did they really think this was the West Indies?
What about Gill and our seniors why blame jaiswal only

India 208/8 against South Africa in the first innings. Play suspended due to rain.

Rahul is keeping Ind in the game here.

140 all out vs 230, huge difference.

wow. I thought we were going to be bowled out under 150 given how much assistance seamers were getting. 200 is tough. Last time India made 323 on this ground first innings. Rahul made 100. Batting became harder and harder in the innings. India won by 100 runs.

Jadeja's batting was missed. Anyway spinners are not going to be good here. His injury and Shami's injury set India back.

Still SA's day today. They will get 300 when they bat and Ind will be chasing the game. A few Ind batsmen just gave their wickets away to poor shots.

Match Report India vs South Africa, Boxing Day Test day 1.

KL Rahul slammed a brilliant half-century to take India to 208/8 before bad light and heavy rain stopped play on Day 1 of the first Test between India and South Africa in Centurion. Kagiso Rabada was the star bowler for South Africa with a five-wicket haul that included three wickets in the second session. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer had good starts but it was Rabada who spelt the end for both India batters. For South Africa, Nandre Burgers has bagged a couple of wickets while Marco Jansen took one. Earlier, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl.

If India can somehow get to 250 from here, they will be in the match. Conditions are helping bowlers really well.

Only issue for India is the 3rd seamer Prasidh. Somebody should be fired in BCCI for having him the squad. He should be no where near the Indian team. He is a mediocre bowler and an atrocious fielder and batsman. A total waste of spot in the squad.

Once Bumrah and Siraj take a break, it is easy for SA to score. Prasidh and Thakur will leak runs. At least Thakur has a knack of picking up wickets.

SA has extra batsman in the side which will be the difference. They dropped KEshav.
but Tembu is done & dusted . 230 is a decent total , hopefully we get 50+ overs tomorrow . Need 225 overs from here to get a result .

It comes down to how pitch responds on subsequent days. Last time it got progressively difficult in the first Test. But last 2 tests pitch became progressively better to bat on. We don't know what is on the offer. If it is the later then it is imperative India turns this into a one innings Test and score big in the 2nd dig.

We have to hope prasid will bowl on the same length like a robot with out using his non existing brain. Aswin may come in to the picture as there will be lot of dampness.

A 23 wicket Day 1 in Newlands comes to an end.

South Africa are 62/3 in their second innings, trailing by 36.
