India's squad for IND vs ENG ODIs was revealed by Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai.

Jasprit Bumrah picked up an injury during the fifth and final Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While he has been included in India's squad for 2025 Champions Trophy, his availability for the playing XI will depend on his recovery and fitness. So bizarre why still 5 T20I instead of 5ODIs. Don't know but it appears that this series would be a better preparation opportunity for England.

This is going to be proper blockbuster series between Top teams

England bowling attacks is very good and they are going to Play with full strength team.

Anything less than 4-1 for us will be dissapointing .it should serve really a good pointer for next t20 wc .t20 series against aus in oct will be one more good check.

A new era for India as the changing of the guard has happened in T20. I am assuming all of the Indian players are IPL products. How many in the English squad are in the IPL?

Nothing much here to see. Another home series for India and they are gonna win it.

For samson, tilak , nitish , bishnoi, its a very good chance to cement their place in first eleven.its a race between rinku and nitish for finisher role for abhishek, its back up opener spot

Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and New batting coach Sitanshu Kotak in a lengthy conversation with Sanju Samson at the Eden Gardens.

They must be communicating to him why He got dropped from the champion trophy squad.

India have lost 27 games at home and Team England has beaten them 5 times. Only South Africa (6) have more wins against India in India

Axar Patel in pre match press conference:

"It's not just about me; it applies to everyone in the team."

"Right from the start of 2024, we had decided to have a fixed opening slot, and from No. 3 to No. 7, everyone has been told to be flexible based on the situation, combinations, and match-ups."

"There is no fixed position where a particular batter will always play...it's the same for everyone in that range (between Nos 3 to 7), depending on who is having a great day, which we assess during practice sessions."

"In T20 cricket, it's all about utilising the right batter in the right situation."

"Hum yeh bhi baat karte hain ki, jo ho gaya woh ho gaya, woh wapas nahin aanewala (Let bygones be bygones). It is about taking the positives into our next series."

"It's a very positive thing for the team. The last time he (Shami) played was in the ODI World Cup final, and since his recovery, he has performed well in both the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare tournaments."

"Whenever a senior player makes a comeback, it gives a big boost to the team. We all know what Shami bhai brings to the table, whether it's with the new ball or in the death overs."

"His presence, especially with the new ball, is a huge advantage for the team. Hopefully, he continues the same form he showcased in the World Cup."

Last time England played a T20 series against BD, England lost 0-3 --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_cricket_team_in_Bangladesh_in_2022–23#T20I_series.

Anyway, not sure why you bring in Bangladesh as thread is about England-India.

Hopefully England will demolish India so that arrogant fans like you become humble.
Are u talking of the bng who cant chase 110 odd against afg for a semis spot in t20 wc and played a test match against ind while chasing 300 in t20.As ur standards are pretty, am reminding you every team is not bng . no one loses like 5-0 as pitches are not mirpur ricebowls.

Solid playing eleven and bowling is very strong .

Blockbuster series is coming up .

England captain Jos Buttler said following in the pre match presser today:

“It’s not a new set-up because Baz (McCullum) has been around for a while and obviously there are a lot of players in this squad who have been with him in the Test set-up for a number of years already. Just looking forward to building that relationship in the white ball set-up,”

“I’m not too worried about schedules or anything at the moment. I’m just looking forward to playing some matches.”

T20 bilaterals are just for time pass. India has beaten England 4 T20 series in a row. It means very little. Hope the series is entertaining regardless of how the results are.

That is a fantastic white ball team, should be a great series this.

England will look to out bat India , but I think against indian spinners will not be easy. Spin hitting is not strong point of England
I think they have decent hitters against the spin bowling. Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Jacob Bethell, they are all very good players of spin bowling.

It will be very interesting to see eng vs varun 2.0 and Bishnoi/washi. All 3 spinners can bowl in pp and completely different set.I think tilak will struggle immensely to rotate strike against a very good eng attack.

Possible , more so because English batters are also playing IPL , they are more used to spinners nowadays . Whatever , by the way Indian batters batted in SA , this will be clash of titans.

A real blockbuster series loading. Very close .

Its Time for the blockbuster series to start .

Toss is going to Play important role as chasing is pretty easy due to dew factor .

Any target is not safe on this ground .

England bowling is so strong and they are playing with Full strength team .

:kp

Both of the sides is equally strong. Shami will be keen to make comeback and good chance for other bowlers to show they can do it without Bumrah.

Welcome to India to England. In old days team used to dislike Indian tour. Now it is their favorable tour. Credit to GOI for positive image of India worldwide.

What ravi shastri was doing promotion for dream 11 during toss time .

This is really pathetic . I know dream' 11 is main Sponser but still you can't promote them during the toss time .

India have won the toss and have opted to field

England
(Playing XI): Ben Duckett, Philip Salt(w), Jos Buttler(c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood

India (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson(w), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy

No shami? All the excitement is gone .

What the love of playing the three spinners?

So pandya/ Varun chakravarthy to Bowl in Death overs along with Arshdeep Singh.

230 + on the Card

Indian bowling looks weak without Bumrah. Right move to go spin heavy.

However don't see them chasing a competitive total against Archer, Wood and Rashid

It's okay. This will give us nothing about his fitness as it si a short spell.I am going to see how he does in ODIs.

There is heavy dew already and india is going with three spinner.

This is really pathetic decision .

I am more thrilled to watch Brook and Bethell. Brook has blown hot and cold here in the IPL. Just one 100. Other than that nothing. Exciting player to wathc on song.

This side won't have Jaiswal.. That is an enigma in itself . Averaging 36@164 strike rate. But i am glad he doesn't play as he is more important for Tests.

I hope Nitish Reddy done well so we can select him for champion trophy . India can change the team.

India's team combo is weird. Just one seamer. Nitish is not much of a seamer in T20. He will travel. Everyone else is spinner

Butler has played a lot cricket here in india all thanks to IPL so he is feeling like playing at Home.

Arshdeep would have been handful in Australia where conditions were favoring bowlers. But India went with Rana, Prasidh and Akashdeep.

India did a massive blunder. Arshdeep would have complemented Bumrah like a champion.
