maamrut said:Well regarding Gony...yep i watched him bowl.He has good control and bowled a very good length. But any hopes we might have had for a bit more pace than what he showed at IPL,i'm afraid will have to be reconsidered. His fastest was 139 kph...i'm afraid thats all he can get upto.Anyway good backup bowler.
Piyush will be quite handful on this surface. The thing with him is he mainly bowls his googly and only rarely bowls leg-breaks..haven't seen anybody doing that.Has a nice flipper too.But playing against HK,one can't judge..lets see how he goes tomorrow.
I heard that whoever loses tomorrow will have to win all their matches(3) in the second round,to qualify for final. So everything to play for![]()
I saw something like 3 overs from him, he was mostly around 130-133 kph and a couple of his deliveries were around 138-139 but then some of his deliveries were around 125 mark too. I don't think he is a fast bowler, fast medium would be the right category. RP was consistently faster than him all through.switchblade said:Man.. any1 got info on Gony's performance ? in IPL he was consistently at 140K.. how did he do in his first ODI ?
Good to see Chawla back on track !!

I thought the team only plays 2 games in the next round (the teams in the other group)...
Woah, didn't know about the carrying over of the points bit. Suppose it's good as it ensures that all games matter. You're right about Sri Lanka; they have a much easier route to the final.maamrut said:No..suppose A1,A2,B1,B2 are the four teams from 2 groups qualifying we have in the 2nd round:
A1 vs B1
A2 vs B2
A1 vs B2
A2 vs B1
A1 vs A2
B1 vs B2
basically all permutations...and yep one more Ind vs Pak in the 2nd round..Since the other group is slightly easier in terms of competetion SL will dominate and they get to face Ban again in the next round. So they pretty much walk through to the final..you see they are carrying over the points from first round. And whoever wins tomorrow will have also earned the same status as Lanka. So the losing team has to wi all 3 matches in 2nd round.Even if one of the matches is a tie SL will go through(well unless net run rate comes into effect, but i suspect SL are smart enough to have that covered).

He did have good seam position and got some outswing going.
