England should be banned from hosting world cup until they improve their ability to cover the entire ground.
 
^ that's why teams chase when there is rain. With the momentum they had, Taylor could have unleashed in the last 4 and scoring 250 in 50 overs on a dry pitch is difficult than 150 in 20 with a wet ball and a wet pitch
 
Too much negativity and hate towards New Zealand.

Come on guys. Show bigger hearts and stay competitive.

Whatever we get, the better team on the day will prevail. DL isn’t as bad as most people feel. It’s he best possible system we have to even out balance.

Anyone who saw the match could tell how NZ struggled to accelerate. It was not because they didn't want to. It was because they were unable to. If the pitch is a 270 pitch 148 in 20 overs will be a steep task.

The new ball is the right time to strike for batting and bowling on a slow pitch. They have one great bowler, 1 good and rest are ordinary. As I said all you need is a 50 from one bastman. Also, ball will be wet and will be difficult to bowl with. It's advantage India
 
spare a thought for NZ no 8 - 11. If this get completely rained out these guys will be out without playing anything in the SF
 
Can never understand the insecurity of Indian fans. Too nervy unlike their team.
 
This is going all haywire for India. Don't trust our guys to chase 148 in 20 overs.

Why? Its a very easy target to chase in T20 and much more easier on a wet ground with a wet ball. Moreover, they do this regularly in IPL and we have enough T20 players like Pant and Pandya in the team.
 
Everytime I comment on here, India alwayse ends up losing. I try not to comment when India is playing lol. But feel like testing the waters today lol

Everyone criticizing Taylor and Williamson, they batted well, if the pitch stays the same or gets worse I see New Zealand winning this.

Good thing we have bowled 95% of our bowling overs so any adjusted score given to us for chasing will be as fair as possible.

Also if you notice India’s batting today is pretty much what we would go for in a T20 match. Rahul, Pant, DK are all much better T20 batsmen.

This would have been a good game if there was no rain. Close one in my opinion. Rain has spoiled it
 
All people are talking about Wet ball and wet pitch.
The ball will swing due to heavy clouds, Jimmy Anderson thrives in such conditions, do not rule out Kiwiz at all, they are very much in this game.

Ofcourse nobody is going to be spared if they overstay. You sound like you have to be LOYAL to players but not country?
 
What’s the update?
Are they going to imply DLS score or will they continue the match tomorrow from where they left today?
I really hope we get entire 50 over match or else we will be chasing steep target in curtailed match on a sluggish wicket.
 
Manchester should be banned from hosting cricket matches - same place we had to deal with the PAK/IND game continuous umming and ahhhing about rain fiasco.
 
Lol at this score from NZ. This game is over already, I'd be surprised if India can't chase this.

I would run down the road naked if they don't chase this, that's how confident I am.

No overs lost for first 2 hours of rain delay. Then overs starts delaying. If NZ innings were to end at this stage and India were to bat minimum # of required overs(20) then India's target would be 140.

Because they dont deserve criticism? One guy picked up as a substitute player at the last minute. Made 35 and 48 in his first two world cup innings unlike a certain guy who made 0 & 0 in his first two world cup innings.

Rain to end in 33 minutes and no rain after. Few drizzle expected at 8pm local time but nothing biggy. Guessing the Kiwi batsmen are hitting the nets hard in the rain. But these English groundstaff takeforever to clear for play.

Chasing 140 odd runs in 20 overs is pretty challenging considering occasion and pitch conditions. If that is the case then Rahul and Rohit need to bat well for first 10 overs and provide the platform to launch.

In all honesty advantage NZ. Seriously, NZ is one lucky team, played poorly and now have a chance to make it to finals.

The guy who made 35 and 48 played a series against England in England last year. Lol just accept you are a hypocrite. You have two different criterias for two different players. You will give Pant and Pandya 100 games to establish themselves but will give Shankar 2-3 games because he is not special according to you. :inti

NZ overs are getting cut now. Ind will lose some overs too before we see resumption. NZ would be loving this

I know that. That's why I said 125-130 (rpo 6.5) which is more likely the 20 over equivalent of the 230-240 (rpo 4.8) score they were heading towards if they played their full 50 overs.

When did i criticize Shankar. Shankar was dropped because of toe injury. He was preferred over everyone else.
 
This is a forgettable world cup despite India doing very well. Farce. Too much rain. Even contests are ruined.
 
India should win this game easily no matter what target is set. Wet ball will make it harder for bowlers to grip.
 
The game's not over yet but India is looking good. Kohli lost last two tosses and imagine if he wins the toss at Lord's. Things happening for India. They will be chasing a mediocre score here. Imagine if NZ was rotating strike and we're close to 270. India would be chasing close to 300 with dLS.
 
What if reserved day gets rained off as well (Incase we have to use it)?
 
What happens if play is resumed today?

If there is any reduction in the overs, then the Duckworth-Lewis method will be applied, followed by which a revised target will be set for India to chase in a revised number of overs as well. New Zealand are currently at 211 for 5 after 46 overs, 11:30 pm local time (4 am IST) is the deadline for the match has to conclude which will require a minimum of 90 minutes to complete the mandatory quota of a minimum of 20 overs. Therefore the match has to restart by 10 PM local time (2:30 AM IST). However, the match Referee can call off the match if he feels there is no chance of play due to wet conditions or no chance of rain to stop.

Overs will start reducing after 4 pm local time (8:30 pm IST). New Zealand will not bat again after 4:15 pm local time (8:45 pm IST).
Chances of drying the outfield:
Only two Super Soppers are allocated for drying the outfield by the ICC, proving that governing body has not learnt a lesson from the previous games being washed out during the group stage.

Toss does look good when bowling & batting both are really good,cant imagine nz rotating strike ,just like how didnt imagine them being all out for 180 odd
 
And I think more than rain it is selection of venues that made this world cup less enjoyable. Why select a venue like old Trafford for world cup match where it rains every time and drainage system is also pathetic.
 
Rain has made it an even contest now. Otherwise kiwis were obviously going to lose.
