India vs Pakistan | Match 22, World Cup | Manchester | June 16, 2019 | India innings

This batting performance from India epitomises how invaluable those wickets were from Amir (to remove their top 3) in the first 10 overs. If they had reached 50/1 after 10 overs, they would have chased it I reckon because the spinners they faced on the day were pretty much harmless. They approached the run chase wrong but that's what scoreboard pressure can do. Notice with how cautious they were in the first 5 overs in this game and also against Australia after the first 10 overs, they won't make the same mistake again anytime soon.

Why are people assuming this Pakistan team cannot chase anything over 250? We have six proper batsmen and even the tail bats pretty well. 350 will definitely be very difficult but it's not like we're out of the game as soon as India crosses 300.

330 definitely on the cards. Still hoping Pakistan will win it or at least go down fighting but to be honest things don't look too good. With the platform they have expect Dhoni and Pandya to go berserk and get 100-120 in the last ten. The ball is gripping even for someone like Imad so Chahal and Kuldeep will be a handful and Bumrah definitely won't be serving pies like Hasan. Only chance we have is if India collapse like Australia the other day for around 300-315.

I wrote this the other day, but cited Big 3.

The gulf is huge. The other 7 are not really in with a chance.

This format in 2015 might have been a lot more competitive.

South African, Sri Lanka and New Zealand were MUCH better sides. Pakistan had a better bowling attack in 2015 as well.

NZ is still good but not as good as 2015.

lol Murtagh has 700 FC wickets to his credit, guy is a proper beast.

Wish the rest were :(

He is one of few short listed by me for our bowling coach at academy. These minnows (with bad gin) don't have the shoulders to implement what Walshi or Lillee or Donald would teach them. For National team, Walshi is fine, because he should be working with seasoned cricketers there (it's more of a mentor's job), but for academy I would love to see Anderson, Fleming, Streak or even Murtag.

We are annoyed because we are losing because of poor decision making.
No it’s not poor decision making.

Nor does it have anything to do with coaching or the selectors.

Here’s a crazy thought, maybe we just aren’t producing the talent to complete with elite teams.

Guys whats this mentality? Losing is part of the game. If you can't digest a loss you might as well stop watching cricket alltogether. Pakistani fans are just so so annoying

Loosing is part of game but doen't mean you are loosing games against same team for years without winning a single game

But noooo it was the scoreboard pressure. :(

I think pak knows they cant bowl india out on this track and with this bowling lineup. Best they can do is contain the boundaries and let the batsmen make the mistakes. I think India will end up with a lot less runs then they expect to get. They're treating the part time bowlers too seriously

It's partly financial disparities, but the teams that've historically relied on individual flair players (Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies) to produce success than through a strong system are the ones that are struggling the most today.

in 2015 ye had Rahat Ali, Wahab, Bilawal Bhatti (lol) Ehsan Adil, Afridi and Sohail Khan.

As bad as your current line up is its miles better than that.

Absolutely but their approach was wrong. They underestimated Amir and overestimated our spinners. Had they calculated their risk-reward ratio against the Pakistan bowlers, could have easily been a different outcome.

it seems like every other day we have our own match ka mujrim ...against australia asif ali nw today fakhar... too hard to b pakistani fan lol

Pakistan should’ve batted first. These wickets are deceptive. Green tinge or under cover for weeks doesn’t matter. It’s flat! Now if india get 330+ game will be over! Defo will get 300+

C'mon,India be ruthless. Should have had 400+, and I don't think they're going to now.
:10:

Too slow in the middle.

Indian's middle order is trash, if we had gotten Sharma run out all we needed was Kohli.

Because we are the worst chasing side and stats prove that. What happened vs Aus? We were 170-6.

I think you'll find pretty much all of these schmucks have under-performed. Look at Hasan Ali. He will get bashed by associate level batsmen if he bowls like this.

Yup agreed, those fans who kept saying scoreboard pressure are dumb

30 years of playing experience between Malik and Hafeez: if they don’t win in today; they should be sent home

Will be interesting to see how Imam approaches this run-chase, there can be no excuses for batting so sedately in these circumstances.

You are right. I just wonder why are we soo crap :(

We used to produce good cricketers regularly always in every decade...

Why are you being sarcastic with him? What he said is correct. India are simply are far superior team, no one can argue against that.

This is not even a contest. Its like Pakistan have just turned up to lose.

I am delighted that India is playing chanceless inning Pakistan will have no if's and but's to cry about. I hope that we have no drop catches and chances to rely upon may the better team wins the game fair and square.

That is the problem even after seeing for couple of years that team hasnt been performing upto its potential, PCB retained the team management just bcz of CT 17. Other than CT 17 there is no achievement under Mickey’s reign. It has been years since mickey has achieved anything as a coach anywhere

It was definitely the score board pressure as indians needed to attack Amir. Today they just played him out. If pak another bowler who kept it tight, India would be in trouble today

We really needed another disciplined bowler in the squad alongside Amir

Hassan, Wahab and Afridi are all very expensive

Rameez Raja and Wasim Akram were losing sleep that day when Shadab was dropped.

What happened today?

To be honest, Imad has bowled exceptionally well here (hope he doesn't spoil it in last over). BUT, the burning issue remains there - PAK isn't getting wickets from spinners between 11-40 overs.

Nope, it was Amir's brilliance that got the wickets of Sharma and Kohli.

I never understood how the financial disparities argument applied to Pakistan. The nation with the second largest population of cricket fans and an economy that is big enough to support cricket very well. This is not Afghanistan or Zimbabwe that we are talking about.
