Cricketer-turned-politician and BJP leader Gautam Gambhir on Monday slammed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for his speech on Kashmir in the United Nations (UN).

In a tweet, Gautam Gambhir criticised Imran Khan and said that a sportsperson is supposed to be a role model but the Pakistan PM was a role model for terrorists.

"Sportspeople are supposed to be role models. Of good behavior. Of Team spirit. Of ethics. Of strength of character. Recently in the UN, we also saw a former sportsperson speak up. As a role model for terrorists. Imran Khan should be excommunicated from sports community," Gautam Gambhir said.

Imran Khan was a cricketer before his advent into politics

Imran Khan played cricket in Pakistan and the United Kingdom. He played his first match for Pakistan’s national team in 1971.

After his retirement from cricket, Khan became an outspoken critic of government mismanagement and corruption in Pakistan.

In an address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday, Imran Khan warned of a bloodbath once India lifts its restrictions in Kashmir, which have been in force since it revoked Article 370 in August.

Soon after the speech, hundreds of Kashmiris came out of their homes, shouting slogans in support of Imran Khan late on Friday night and calling for the independence of Kashmir.

Imran Khan addressed the United Nations a day after the senior US diplomat for South Asia called for a lowering of rhetoric between India and Pakistan, while saying that Washington hoped to see rapid action by India to lift restrictions it has imposed in Kashmir and the release of detainees there.

Gambhir, you aren’t a quarter of a cricketer what Imran was, so keep your mouth shut.

I assume Ms Dhoni putting on his tin hat to go stare at fair skinned women and point guns at the elderly is his idea of a great sporting role model.

These days he is giving statements after statements like a proper jaahil. Paddy Upton was absolutely right about Gambhir. :inti

.... and the infatuation with IK and the UN address continues, but we have to believe that Indians didn’t care about it at all.
Mental disintegration of the Hindutva extremists in full flow it appears.

That' the only place where he can fight afridi, he's got no chance in a physical fight, just like his countrymen.

That’s the thing about social media. It’s very easy to act tough behind a computer/mobile screen.

Also how long before mamoon shows up and says how much he agrees with Gambhir and if only we had Gambhir as our prime minister we would be a first world country?

That made me chuckle. This dude is funny. And reeks of insecurity.

Product of BJP, never ending embarrassment that is openly accepted by majority of Indians by giving an excuse such as, economy. lol

The video is rather disturbing. Cricket does not belong in Karachi.

Let's see if BCCI can flex its muscle and "excommunicate" Imran Khan's name from cricket's history books.

Maybe that is the issue!
The real issue is that Pakistanis criticize Pakistanis which is why these ‘dogs’ can bark too.

Same applies for his tweet of the security issue in Karachi.

Sri Lanka asked for such security measures. They got their wish fulfilled.

Lulz at this guy for going out of his way to post this clip, and comparing that to Kashmir curfew where human rights abuse is taking place. Talk about painting an apple orange and then comparing it against the orange.

He's trying hard to prove he's a worthy candidate for his party you've got to give that to him.

This idiot isn’t worth the time of day. He’s a nobody and surprised to see a thread wasted on him.

And there I thought the most embarrassing thing about him was his dressing up as a woman, make up, high heels, lipstick and all.

So much for our Indian contingent claiming Imran Khan's accusations were having no effect, they're literally shaken to the core.

Cricket shouldn't be played at such a high tension, militarized environment like in this clip. What's funny is - the security and convoy situation would be far less suffocating if SL were playing at the J&K cricket stadium.

Imran Khan has exposed RSS Nazi ideology that this midget belongs to so the pain is natural. Every BJP leader who opens mouth is usually full of bigotry and hatred and this failed midget is no different.

Atleast Karachiites aren't afraid to criticise (wrongfully/rightfully) their own people. Can Muslims in Kashmir make similar videos?

Gambhir is a troll and always will be.

And who are you to decide on the level of security provided to touring nations?

Nothing like a demilitarised zone with a mere 900,000 troops in the vicinity

This is cute. Such concern.

Shami here shows why there is no reason to sympathize with Indian Muslims. They absolutely deserve Modi, and everything coming their way. Long may it continue.

No Indian Muslims are asking for your help as evident already. India is constituted by Hindu, Muslims, Christians, jain.... And every religion is proud of the secular nation.

I feel for you the most given your history and deep down I think you know why.
But it shouldn’t be this difficult.

Wouldn't want anyone in India questioning Shami's patriotism. It's funny how they talk about the part of IK speech where he talks about war (unfortunate scenario leading to war) but they dont want to mention the human rights violations India is committing...

The level of self importance you guys have.

Very unfair to generalize. Remember they have no option but to comply.

They rejected the idea of pakistan in 1947.

They have given their blood and life to defend this country.

So its very obvious where their loyalties lie. And yes i live in a state with 30% muslim population so meeting and interacting with them is a daily affair since childhood.

And the guy said voter, not welder... Maybe Sehwag should take some English lessons instead of putting his ignorance on display :))

The level of jahalat in some people in India is very worrying.

Quite apart from deliberately misunderstanding Imran's message, inability to actually understand English seems to indicate a problem with the educational system.

Yes there may be muslims who do not love the country, just like there are sikhs or hindus. But to generalize it on the entire population is wrong.

Thanks Gambhir. IK hitting your terrorist army hard has surely got you screaming. Our PM was and always will be a Cricket legend and the most glamorous player to have played the game. Your Indian ladies and Bollywood actresses would die to be our PM's girlfriend and wife. Just ask Sanjay Manjrekar how much he admires IK.

IK was and always will be the most dashing Cricketer ever. Your Indian chicks like Zeenat Aman, Bipasha Basu and Rekha were gaga over him Mr Gambhir! Even in his 60's today Cricket would welcome him back with open arms. You Gautam are a nobody best, an average Cricketer at best who supports his terrorist army. You can keep all your fake Shahrukh, Salman are the other Khan's when we have the real deal. Our Khan towers over all of yours combined. Even today IK could have any Indian women he wanted but he ain't interested:stokes.

Serves the paindu Sehwag right and guess who is humiliated & embarrassed in the end :)) :)) This is what happens when you take tweets from dumb patwaris seriously. This was very well expected from low IQ clown like Sehwag so nothing surprising there, he is just bit better than Gambhir.

:29:

Don't care much about Azharuddin, they have to say such things to be accepted in Modi's India but seriously disappointed with Ganguly who is usually mature.

So you kept quiet when 8 million Kashmiris were locked, thousands being tortured, picked up, blinded and raped. Also dozens of fellow countrymen are being lynched, Modi threatening war with neighbours, obsessed about isolating them and embarassing them at ever forum, boycotting even cricket games and ignoring every bit of peace effort from Imran Khan/Pakistan but now you feel Pakistan is pushing us towards war and you are all for PEACE? Is that how low you have gone? Do you not see what your own Prime Minister is doing to disrupt peace in the region?? You should have spoken up back then but you decide to open your mouth now?

This is called True colours coming out of such people.Say nothing about Kashmir and call someone advocating peace and warning against misadventures as rubbish...This is called which is hypocrisy which is in their blood.Anyways this has been big win for IK .
Just waiting for Dhoni,Monkey Kohli,***** to join

Hypocrisy is when IK remained silent for Chinese Muslims.

Hypocrisy is when IK stated he didn't even have discussed the issue with Chinese govt though he claims he wants to bring justice to the Muslims.

Hypocrisy is when you shout at top of your voice about injustice to the minority in other countries where as in your own country, discrimination exists itself in the constitution (and rejecting bills for amendments).

IKs stand is anti India. Not even pro Muslim. That's the irony.

You've a very shallow way of giving value to a person. If girls going gaga over a man gives him the superiority aspect by your point of view, then it is as superficial as it can be.

To be fair, it’s better than going gaga over a man with the most obvious Napoleon syndrome, who throws around labels like terrorist and considers himself to be some sort of authority in cricket.

I’d think twice before defending Gambhir here.

Especially considering that Imran Khan has no past connecting him to violence. Whereas the demi-god gambhir preaches to has a very tainted past especially with regards to communal violence.

What you stated is perfectly valid for consideration. A person should be judged by his actions rather than how many girls do fancy him.

The previous post was only towards the aspect of judging someone based upon how many girls will fall for a guy. It doesn't matter what's the nationality of those two people, it will be equally shallow regardless.

As a responsible member of the Asian bloc and someone who looks at the world with the eyes of humanity I feel incredibly let down by Imran Khan's choice of words. Very irresponsible statements indeed.

If his rhetoric goes the same way there will be little separating him from the fat Korean leader.

He must go back to the good guy he was in February.

So it's okay for India to commit human rights violations just because China does it? How can you guys live with the fact your army picks up kids as old as 9 years old and tortures them not to forget the fact of all the other human rights violations. Let's forget about all that and look at China. Indians use China as a excuse to torture innocent people. It's a damn shame.

We should judge the PM of India for his role in the gujrat massacre

===

Bit guarded are we?

Good to see the cricketing world rightly condemning Imran Khan..

Atrocious behaviour

He used to be the same voice in Pakistan

Has Modi drive him to madness how much of it is his fault.

Do humans have free will?

What does Donald Trump say about that as the unofficial mediator

Pak cricket fans can now not even claim their cricketers are more paindu than ours. It seems all of the Indian cricket community has upped their Twitter game

And its a damn shame when you, as a follower of Islam, applaud the person who is also silent when China is torturing Muslims and instead calls them(China) as "Pakistans best friend"? For IK, is economic profit is more important than fighting for justice for Muslims?

https://youtu.be/SpfaJtrTMfc

Watch from 17:00 onwards. Its a direct interview of imran khan by Al jazeera.

How do you sleep at night when you, as a Muslim, discriminate between a Muslim from kashmir and a Muslim from China?

Does the life of a Muslim from kashmir has more value than the life of a Muslim from China?

Otherwise why would you voice in case of kashmir yet, remain silent when China is torturing another set of Muslim brothers and sisters?

Is it because China has more to offer?

If that is the case, then why take a hypocritical stand of claiming you care about Muslims when kashmir issue is raised yet, when China issue is raised, your voices are lost in a limbo?
