Lool reading cricnfo commentary before the game they can't understand why gayle is not selected, the guy doesn't even perform consistently and ten Doscate on the sky sports coverage said he doesn't think gayle is fit.

Also interested to read kohlis comments on sarfaraz khans fitness

Kl Rahul looks good should be the test opener with Vijay and deserves a chance in LOI when India tour Zimbabwe in June.

This transformation of Rahul reminds me of Vijay's. I don't know how many of you remember, but Vijay used to play like a test player in t20s and used to go a strike rate of around 110-120 until one innings that changed his batting style. If I remember correctly, he scored 78(39) and then scored 126(68) in the very next innings and he never looked back after that. Vijay deserved more chances than he got in ODIs. I hope Rahul is utilized properly in ODIS. He should replace Dhawan.

Agreed.. It also looks like he is drawing confidence from playing with Kohli.. However, Vijay had more hitting talent..

Rahul has all the makings for a great ( I know too early ) . Some one with his array of strokes should be able to adapt to LOIs pretty easily , even though his approach is of a classic test batsmen . IIRC he hit some double hundreds at run a ball for his Ranji team which involved some massive sixes . Hes a confidence player , may still be nervous starter till he gets a good run of 10-15 matches for India which I belive is worth investing .

It also depends on what they do in international cricket. I am sure Vijay would have got some chances after that, but some bad luck he doesn't perform, hence discarded. On the other hand guys like Dhawan gets a chance in the national team, suddenly play some crucial knock, somehow give the illusion that they are cemented in the team in some position. Its all about luck and flow. (And players like Dhawan can't be removed easily, because always there is pressure on selectors of their past innings and there are different set of people/media who will question that!)

Let's see what ab can do today. Seen lots of comments on Facebook recently from Indians calling him the best batsmen ever

Dangerous Axar may well run into RCB Batting line up here! This match is slipping out... Hope ABD plays a sedate knock here to take RCB to a respectable score. I don't think 180+ is needed on this pitch. Time for RCB bowlers to show up otherwise RCB doesn't deserve to win this cup (If they are that much dependent only on their batting)

This is what hes good at . First innings with no pressure . Need a good knock here .

It is must that ABD should understand (First innings at least - I will take care, if I can't do in the second innings -there is Kohli). So first innings at least (is what RCB fans asking for ABD, with Gayle's absence!)

Though I still don't understand what will RCB lose if Gayle comes at No.5 instead of Head!

Hope the lesser mortals in RCB team (Sachin Baby, Head, etc) perform today to take it to decent total (Somehow I feel that it is sufficient, it is a task for RCB bowlers to win the game today. Then only RCB can feel the confidence of qualifying for playoffs let alone wining the title. Because at least 5 teams other than RCB look really formidable, alround & dangerous teams! RCB can't depend so much on their batting and Virat Kohli's heroics.)

Axar looks pretty determined out there! RCB should see off his spell

ABD should just stay till 17. He can then get to his usual (old) mode of taking score from 130 to 170 or even 180.

Just checked that Virat Kohli gone after scoring 20 off 21.

Sometimes, I feel that he is human.

Yes he does so in some matches. He is usually a slow starter (for his standard or rather T20 standards). That is his vulnerable zone (between 10 to 25 runs). He will usually be very sedate in first few balls and doesn't take much risk (Even if you bowl good balls at him in this period, he will usually defend it and not get out) He will usually start the innings with run a ball strike rate. He looks to take on after that and take a risk (after 20 runs or so to up the SR). That is when the opposition can pick his wicket (if they are able to). After that he looks invincible (after 30 runs) and his SR boosts up to 130, 150+

That is why it is important to have wicket taking bowlers in your team against Kohli to pick his wicket at important junction. It is more of mind game with Kohli, his defense is solid and more so his stroke-play. You should play a chess game with him (another way of frustrating him is by keeping him in the non-striker end)

RCB should now look to up the momentum, they still have Head and Binny is no mug with bat (I think Binny can even handle No.6 position better than others in the line up! People forgot his stint with Rajastan Royals! He is a better batsman than a bowler for sure, people just expected a lot from his bowling forgetting his batting)

And ABD is doing just that! I think ABD will do his magic for RCB today.

ABD is too good player to keep out of action and impact. He is making his presence felt today, this could be match winning innings from him (if RCB bowlers don't spoil it again on a bit of bowler-friendly wicket)

They should have sent Binny. Anyhow RCB bowlers have a challenge (they have the chance to defend this total with some hard work)

Gayle coming now would have been such an advantage, Baby/Head very ineffective

Sachin Baby like a senior pro tapping ABD's head after he gets out :))

That wicket could be the difference between a score of 170 and 190.

Very much, and they wasted it further by not sending Binny. Gayle should be in this team as a surprise package as finisher (except the concern of his running between wicket at death overs! But he can make it up with lusty blows! RCB should take this risk because there are no better alternatives in their arsenal.)

This is nothing batting by these two in death overs! (Playing like tail-enders trying to bat till last ball with 6 wickets in hand in a must win match!)

Good performance from RCB.. Credit to ABD and Watto..Delivered top performance under pressure.Kohli missed out today but that's fine..
