India should win upcoming T20 WC comfortably this time after playing IPL there. Have high hopes from our wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul and an actual allrounder Ravindra Jadeja if he gets selected on UAE pitches.![]()
)Below will be our team:
Rahul
Rohit
Kohli
SKY
Pant (wk)
Pandya
Jadeja
Chahal
Shami
Bumrah
Siraj
Must we waste Siraj, Bumrah and Shami on Dubai's national highways?
Natarajan and another youngster can be given a chance. Bumrah and Shami can be rested.
Its not that simple. India played a full series in Australia just before 2015 WC, Pak did the same before 2019 WC in Eng but both teams did not went on to win the tournament. So playing IPL before T20 WC dosent guarantee success.
Ofcourse you will have high hope on Rahul now after the reality check in the ongoing test series)
But he will play as an opener and Pant will play as wicket keeper bat, atleast for the 24th Oct game. Oh and also Pandya will bat at 6

Rahul
Rohit
Kohli

Pant (wk)

I don't mind him in T20 team but he should be nowhere near tests and ODIs. He doesn't even bowl full quota of overs in ODIs these days and perform once in 6-7 matches. I rightly called him gareebo ka afridi.
We'll find a way to lose to New Zealand as usual.
Some new names in proposed Indian lineups here. Will Suryakumar play against Pakistan ? Is he a powerhitter ? How good is Pant in T20s ? Where is Kuldeep ?
I think Bumrah and Kuldeep are two bowlers that can trouble Pakistan. Rest are decent but not threatning.
Indian cricket lovers are holding on to their nerves, awaiting the selection committee's announcement of the 15-man squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2021. While fans have had their discussions over who deserves a spot in the team and who doesn't, the experts are also weighing in. India legend Sunil Gavaskar also picked his 15-man squad for the showpiece event ahead of the official announcement.
Speaking on Sports Tak, Gavaskar surprisingly left out two stalwarts of Indian cricket in the form of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer. While Dhawan has been one of India's most important batsmen in ICC events, Iyer made the No. 4 position in white-ball cricket his own with some really responsible outings in the last couple of years.
Instead, Gavaskar put his confidence in spin-bowling all-rounder Krunal Pandya. "He's an all-rounder, a very experienced player, has performed very well in the IPL for the past many years so he surely deserves a place. He's left-handed, which is an advantage as well," he said over the selection of the elder of the Pandya brothers.
Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar -- two spin bowling all-rounders -- made the cut in Gavaskar's team though there isn't much clarity on the selection of Sundar because of his injury.
In terms of pacers, the original Little Master went with the experienced trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Chennai Super Kings duo of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur also received his nod. Yuzvendra Chahal was the only specialist spinner selected in the 15-man team by Gavaskar.
Sunil Gavaskar's India squad for T20 World Cup 2021: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar (subject to fitness), Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal.
It also has to be noted that a total of 18 players will be picked for the showpiece event, including three reserves. The official announcement of the squad is expected to be made on Wednesday (September 08).
My 15 member squad as follows:
Openers - Rohit, Rahul, Dhawan
Middle order - Kohli, Sky
Wicket Keeper - Pant
All rounder - Pandya, Jadeja, Shardul
Spinners - Chahal, Ashwin, Chakravarty
Fast bowlers - Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami
3 Reserves - Siraj, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar
Among the above squad - this will be my playing XI for the 1st game:
Rohit
Dhawan
Kohli
Rahul
Pant
Pandya
Shardul
Bhuvi
Ashwin
Bumrah
Chahal

I will play Rahul as a wicketkeeper batsman and opener. Dhawan is not suitable for this format and I think he should take a break after his divorce today. Also Sky should be in the playing XI. If Shardul is playing then we don't need Pandya. Only one of these two should play. I would also pick Jadeja and strengthen the bowling even more because don't forget we are playing in UAE. My team based on your 15 men squad.
Rahul (wk)
Rohit
Kohli (c)
Kishan
Sky
Jadeja
Shardul/Pandya
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Bumrah
Chahal

even IPLICC trophies not in Kohli's fortune...
Jadeja is not a good T20 bowler and his hitting skills have improved but not as good as Pandya.
After reading your XI, I actually think we will do best by going with Pandya at 6, Shardul at 7 and then have the off-spinner at 8. This allows us to pick an off-spinner Ashwin and leg-spinner Chahal in the same team.
6. Pandya
7. Shardul
8. Ashwin
9. Bhuvi
10. Bumrah
11.Chahal
However, experience will be prioritised here and Jaddu is a pretty much given in Indian team XI for the Team Management.
Ashwin in t20;a disaster waiting to happen.may God give me the strength to tolerate this world cup results
Before kickstarting their campaign in the T20 World Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan, Virat Kohli-led India would square off against England and Australia in warm-up games. The match against England would take place on October 18 while the game against Australia would go ahead on October 20.
Speaking to ANI, industry sources confirmed the same. "Yes, India will lock horns against England and Australia in warm-up games and they will be telecast on Star," the source said.
On September 8, the Indian national selectors had picked the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be hosted in UAE and Oman. In a surprise move, R Ashwin was included in the team. He had last played a T20I against West Indies in July 2017. Yuzvendra Chahal missed out while former India skipper MS Dhoni will be the mentor of the team.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has the hosting rights, the tournament has been moved out of the country with an eye on the COVID-19 pandemic. India and Pakistan will be locking horns on October 24 in a group-stage encounter. The tournament will get underway from October 17, with the final to be played in Dubai on November 14.
The tournament will begin with the Round 1 Group B encounter between hosts Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 17, with Scotland and Bangladesh, the other teams in Group B, clashing in the evening match. Ireland, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Namibia -- making up Group A -- will be in action in Abu Dhabi the next day, with Round 1 matches running till October 22.
The top two teams in each group will proceed to the Super 12 stage of the tournament, beginning on October 23. The second round of the tournament -- the Super12 stage -- will get underway in Abu Dhabi on October 23, with the Group 1 contest between Australia and South Africa. This will be followed up with an evening clash between England and West Indies in Dubai. Old rivals England and Australia will lock horns in Dubai on October 30. It will conclude on November 6 with matches between Australia and West Indies in Abu Dhabi, and England and South Africa in Sharjah.
Group 2 will commence with a heavyweight clash between India and Pakistan in Dubai on October 24. Pakistan then take on New Zealand in Sharjah on October 26, in a tough start for the 2009 champions.
Afghanistan begin their campaign on October 25 at Sharjah, taking on the winners of Group B from the first round. It will conclude on November 8, with India taking on the second-placed Round 1 qualifier from Group A.
The first semi-final will be held in Abu Dhabi on November 10. The second semi-final will be hosted by Dubai on November 11. Both semi-finals have reserve days. The marquee clash of the tournament will take place in Dubai on November 14, Sunday, with Monday acting as the reserve day for the final.
"We're Coming For It": Rohit Sharma Cites 2007 Triumph In Rallying Cry Ahead Of 2021 ICC T20 World Cup
This is what happens when threads get merged, dont get any response. All the efforts made on creating the thread...goes in vain![]()
Fear not Rajdeep.
Nothing goes in vain and your thoughts perfectly echo what most of us feel after seeing the shambolic performances from our crowd favourites and superstars.
We all know that the our T20 stars have failed to shine in the IPL (barring a few).
I said the same about Mumbai Indians on another thread,,seems like a shadow of their former self and same goes for the Indian T20 team hype.
Agree with that mate. Selectors have filled the squad with Mumbai Indian players but all of them have flopped. I think few changes will happen before 10th Oct deadline.
The IPL ends on October 15th at the same venues..so should be advantage to all players as they will be match fit and also adjusted to ground conditions.
We badly need Rohit, Ishan and Sky to roar back in form and Hardik Pandya to be fit.
Ishan
Rohit
Rahul
Virat
Sky
Hardik
Jadeja
Ashwin
Varun
Shami
Bumrah
This will be the team most likely as per sources.
It was pretty obvious that KL would open ultimately. That statement was made just to make sure that he is able to open the batting for RCB.
You can never agree with Kohli's words, the guy himself is so confused of what he is doing. Before WTC, he was fully backing Ashwin and Jadeja and three pacers combination but after that loss, he started backing four pacers + Jadeja combo.
I am actually rooting for Afghanistan to win t20 WC, but unfortunately they are in same group as other stronger teams
Good chance to get to semis. But Kohli's team will find a way to flounder in a knock out scenario. This guy captained RCB for what 10 years? Yet to win a single cup. Not won a tournament or India either.
) How easily Kohli designates himself at no. 3 slot in batting line up!
If anything, he is currently the weakest link in our batting lineup.
He has done that way too often during his captaincy reign, that is keeping out game changers out of XI.He will unfortunately keep one of the dynamic & in-form player (the one who can win knockout/pressure games) out of this team!
Good chance to get to semis?)
Like, I know its a good strategy to downplay expectations in order to overcome grief in case things go south... but this is a little too much. Even the most pessimistic fan should be thinking that semis for India is a given with a solid chance to go all the way
We lost 2019 WC because of the brain-fade from management. The team that was picked was excellent. We even went with 8 batsman strengthening our batting lineup( Jaddu at 8) for that game and before that game, we were generally having 7 batsman( one of them was Kedhar Jadhav) and 4 proper tailenders( Kulcha, Bumrah-Shami).
There is no way we could have played a better lineup on that day but the loss happened because of the big decision of hiding Dhoni till the end.
At 5/3 or even at 25/4, you need a guy who has immense experience and is a master of building the inning. An anchor at that position was the need of the hour but the brain-fade Kaptaan and management instead sent a power hitter in Pandya at that position and asked him to anchor the inning and kept Dhoni in the end to do power hitting.
It is like if you have Bevan and Afridi in your team but at 25-4 you decide to send Afridi to anchor the inning and keep Bevan for late overs hitting.

No. It was the right decision IMO. Having Dhoni play up the order would mean he would play too many dots and increase the pressure on the lower middle order. Sending Pandya first would hopefully have meant that he would keep the scoreboard ticking and keep the target within reach for India. If nothing else, at least it would mean Pandya would have enough time to get his eye in to go on the attack later. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way, but I don't think Dhoni playing above Pandya would've changed the result of the match either.
