Can someone give me any invention ideas as I'm looking to make something as a part time hobby

Sure bro. I want an interactive AI in the GPS of my car when I'm driving long distances. You know, someone to have a conversation with when I get tired of driving for few hours.

Silence kind of gets to you at times.

The GPS will be like "hey handsome, tired? we're almost there" etc to give me motivation to keep going.

How good are you with electronics?

I have been trying to piecemeal together a windows based home server that acts as a modem, a wifi router, a network attached cloud storage device/file server and a switch.

A pc can do most of these things, except the modem/wifi router and switch part.

The whole idea of such a device really came to me as a requirement. I had all those different devices for different purposes and they took up space not to mention looked ugly connected to each other with all sorts of cables hanging around which my toddler loved to pull at.

I feel in a modern home today, everybody uses internet, everybody has a wifi router and if you have a connected home, a switch is a must. If you have multiple computers, mobile devices, then a network attached storage helps to perform backups, serve files, etc. So all of them can be rolled into one device, tucked away in a corner or a network closet without a whole mess of cables. I have spent a lot of time researching but I have not been able to find any such thing out there that does all that. Apple has a Time Capsule out there but its just a wifi router with builtin storage, its not a cable/DSL/fiberoptic modem, does not have any means to run a home server software on it either, but still I have to say its the closest to my needs.

If you can build one, preferrably not large enough to take up half a closet, I would say you will find some backers on fundme or something.

Been trying to make a 3d printed centrifugal compressor that actually works.

If you lower the pressure enough, water will boil at room temperature.

I'm trying to figure out a way in which I can take muddy water put it in a vacuum chamber, suck out all the air so that the pressure drops and the water starts boiling. Then extract all the vapour just leaving the mud. This will create beautiful potable water from undrinkable sludge.

Huge application in third world countries.

Are you sure nothing like this has been invented? If not then you sir are a genius

For sure somebody else might have thought of it as well, but I couldn't find a working model on it.

Invention is a gradual process, its not like you can invent from stone age to modern plane in one leap...

Try to focus on solving a problem that you are facing or bothers you a lot...Focus on solving small problems, that leads to bigger ideas...Focus is key, also inorder to think big, you have to understand things at lowest level...

Slingshot (water vapor distillation system)

Slingshot is a water purification device created by inventor Dean Kamen. Powered by a Stirling engine running on a combustible fuel source, it claims to be able to produce drinking water from almost any source[2] by means of vapor compression distillation, requires no filters, and can operate using cow dung as fuel. The name of the machine is a reference to the slingshot used by David to defeat Goliath.

Posted it in that doco thread sometime back.

Full doco on Netflix.

I hope someone invents/re-invents some of Tesla works. Especially Free Energy.

Since you are talking about Water Issues. Me and my friend during our research project, as far i know this research is never done on any level.

First we made a simple Double water filtration system (Which wasn't costly at all). We applied concept of absorption on our process. For this we used materials like Sand, Silica, Egg covers, and charcoal.

As far i have searched, filtration is done billion times, but almost all people used a single process to do this.

But with our method, in a single go you can eliminate every type of stuff from poor quality water. You can remove all bacteria, viruses, smell, taste issues, hard metals dissolved, soft metals dissolved, e.t.c e.t.c

At the end of our process, we compared our filtered water properties with WHO (World Health Organization) standards and they were pretty accurate.

Further our University forwarded our whole research project (Because our work was different from other students) to HEC because they were looking for new research projects. So far according to their response, they have accepted our project and they are trying to further modernize it and will make it more effective, and then they will give us final verdict.

We believe if some company apply our idea on a massive level, sure it will be very helpful in those areas of Pakistan where there is massive shortage of water, and also it is not much expensive.

Oh that's excellent work and an interesting read.

I hope HEC rewards students doing cutting edge research. It was a very efficient, well-organized and innovative institution during Mush's era, but has fallen aside since "democracy" stepped in.

Awesome work well done Roary.

Suffice to say, if I had any great multi-million dollar ideas, I wouldn't be posting them on the internet where people can steal those ideas from me:ssa
