What's new

Inzamam-ul-Haq or Virat Kohli? Who would you take in the Test format?

Only a deluded poster would make such a thread and that's coming from a Pakistan fan.

Calling someone GOAT in his purple patch is too much as well(happened in Amla's case when people started putting him in ATG category).
GOAT title demands consistency and longevity.

I agree that we will judge Kohli by how he does over his entire career, BUT the way he has overcome his previous weakness in England is super impressive.

^ Good information. Inzamam should have reached the ATG level but he underachieved. Despite that, he's a great batsman and far ahead of a nobody like Virat Kohli. Let Kohli overtake VVS and become a certain feature in his team's all-time XI first.

This is the most bumpable post of all time on PP. It perfectly epitomises your hate for Kohli and Indian players in general.

If you said this in 2010/2011 fair enough but in Nov 2017?! No wonder you're hiding now.

That's true and it's the reason why I am so confident that he would be able to maintain this in the near future as well.

Lmao what a joke of a post

Kohli is nowhere near Inzamam at this stage. Kohli has played a couple of tests in South Africa and hasn't played more than a single series in England and New Zealand, if I'm not mistaken.

Eventually, Kohli can match Inzamam in this format but I do not believe that he will be able to surpass the big man.

:shh

What's so great about inzi that vvs is so inferior to him?
Vvs has amzing stats for a no. 6 batsman. He avgs<40 in just two countries.

Ah Bilal, where art thou? I misseth thy jest.

Kohli is nowhere near ATG in tests. He can only be considered one after he crosses 10k runs. Ponting used to average 60 after his 107th test (with 9k+ runs). He is an ODI ATG and GOAT contender, but he hasn't done anything out of the world in tests. Heck his peak itself is nothing to speak of, it's lower than Kallis and Sanga's career average lol

Inzamam averaged 32 odd against both Ausralia and South Africa, the two best teams of his time . He also scored only 1 100 Vs them in a total of 27 tests. :virat

Kohli should target the likes of Kallis, Dravid or Sanga. Inzamam is not a benchmark in tests.

I don't see Kohli surpassing Kallis in tests honestly.

Kohli is nothing more than a good test batsman right now. He's on the Azhar Ali, Kane Williamson, Faf du Plessis level and even mentioning his name alongside Sachin, Lara and Ponting is the height of *********.

What he does or doesn't do in the future can be discussed as his career matures. The upcoming series in South Africa and then England will be good markers of his progress or lack of.

Faf du plessis? :)))

I always felt Kohli should be compared to Ponting, some of their shots are similar and so is the style of play...

Even though you wrote that almost a year ago, the last few lines manage to show only two things :-

1. You are biased towards Pakistani cricketers.

Or

2. You have not got an iota of clue what talent is.

I would go for the former because the latter makes you look stupid.

Kohli is a better batsmen than Inzi in both formats and he isn't even 30. So much imagine how big the gap will be by the end of Kohlis career.
