From RCB Fan's view point it would be better if MI wins, so that more teams fall on 14 points bracket. If MI loses, they are absolutely out, but at the same time I am 1000% certain that CSK will deliberately lose to Punjab for an easy qualifier game in case! In that way they can kill both RCB & MI in one shot (also KKR in case as they have a tough match against SRH. SRH will also try to beat KKR with full interest but not in notorious sense as CSK). CSK at any cost would hate to have KKR & MI in the playoffs. They would prefer Kings XI, RR & RCB. Heck they don't mind even SRH, because these are the teams which they think have loopholes which they can exploit.

Hence RCB will hope for MI win, even though MI can push hard to end up with higher NRR (Funny expectation of DD beating MI to clear out NRR clash, only MI seems like beating RCB on NRR) From yesterday's match KKR's position has become much superior and RR's has come down. Although 2 spots are still open, I think its actually a fight between MI & RCB for the 4th spot.

This has been a very interesting year of IPL, but I think people are enjoying more on brilliant individual performances rather than the close contest between teams and the cat&mouse game!
 
Match is in Mumbai and looking at Punjab's form in past 5 matches, if you get top 2 then they are done. Tipping MI to win today.

+ Huge NRR for MI if they plan like RCB... They will be out of reach of RCB because they had another big margin victory before. So peculiar combination of victories & losses teams are expecting...

KXI just want 2 clean wins (no worries of NRR for them). But they have tough matches (CSK is a notorious one who may help them though!)

RR not only has to win, but also huge margin against RCB (that can put additional pressure on them). RR is on the worst scenario out of all.

MI just wants 2 wins (they are not worried of NRR as much) and they have absolutely easier matches to do it and its there in their control unlike RCB

RCB as much they should win the 2 matches (1 tougher match against SRH, but at home which is slightly manageable, and RR will be under pressure as I explained before), but they also want MI to lose 1 match (preferably against DD! Because if they lose to KXI, then CSK will also lose to KXI and kill RCB)

KKR is in the best position out of all, because all they need is to win the match (though its a tough one against SRH in Hyderabad), even if they lose they still have a chance of qualifying based on NRR at least at 4th place if KXI clash with them.

While these 5 teams are worried about finding one spot in playoffs (DD is dead, so they will play for pride) out of the other 2 teams, SRH maybe in party mood (looked complacent in the last match) but CSK is in thinking mood of whom to pick for playoffs. Their best picks in the order of preference is: 1) KXI 2) RR 3) RCB 4) KKR 5) MI. I am not just telling blindly, I have experienced their strategy in all the editions...

This is one hell of a Chess Game
 
Well MI has to sweat hard (post a big total) compared to RCB. First priority should be win so cannot afford for any hiccups in batting... This also gives better chance for Punjab (restrict the target and plan the chase)
 
pathetic rohit flopping from last 3 years now. should be dropped by mumbai and bcci.

tiwari should have been sent ahead of axar and yuvraj. Don't know what punjab see in axar's batting.
 
Yuvraj should retire like gambhir now. By keep playing he is getting humiliated and making joke of himself again and again.
 
What a spell that by Bumrah.. But Axar lost the match for Punjab.. He should've tried scoop rather than muscling it against Bumrah.

He should not have been Sent ahead of tiwari at first place. Tiwari is much better batsman and has wide range of shots than axar.
 
Umpire did it for MI again. Didn't call that one wide in the last over. And another wide was not given after the powerplay overs. 1 extra ball would have made a huge difference in the results. Ambani has these umpires in his pocket.

I don't know man, sure you are the most exciting, but there's more than a whiff of favouritism that I get when I watch Mumbai win some close ones. There were some very questionable wide calls today. And yeah, they actually do remind me of the Pakistani National team. And we all know what that means :shezzy

Lol you are comparing with PCT which has dull all batsmen except one or two. MI filled with exciting players top to bottom, except one or two.

the last wide can go either way.. on naked eye it felt ball sneak through under bat..

yup that also true.. surprised to see he comes after Axar and Yuvi.. Thought he wasn't the XI (actually I forget he was playing for Punjab)

And yet the only time MI faced a pak team they lost despite the so called exciting players top to bottom.

Then why are you giving sore loser excuse for MI winning the game today. Umpires make mistake. Today’s one was marginal and it’s not so certain that Punjab would have won the game if wide had been called.

You misunderstanding me bro, Im not comparing qualities of the teams, im only comparing their unpredictability nature which makes them most exciting to watch.
