Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets in a final-over clash where Rahul Tripathi hit the winning six after Ashwin's terrific first four balls. KKR will play their third IPL final now on Friday against Chennai Super Kings.

But who will win this game?

Dinesh Karthik reprimanded for breaching Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct

Kolkata Knight Riders keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was found guilty of breaching the Indian Premier League's (IPL) code of conduct during their Qualifier 2 game against Delhi Capitals. Kolkata went on to win the game, however, to book their place in the finals

Kolkata-Knight Riders wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League's code of conduct during his team's second Qualifier against Delhi Capitals, which it won by three wickets here.

The exact nature of the breach was not specified by the IPL but Karthik was seen dislodging a stump out of frustration after he was dismissed during the high-voltage game on Wednesday.

Karthik, on his part, admitted to a level one offence and also accepted the sanction.

"Dinesh Karthik, the Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batsman, has been reprimanded for breaching the (IPL's Code of Conduct during his team's Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals at Sharjah on Wednesday 13th October," a statement issued by the IPL stated here on late Wednesday night.

"Mr Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," it added.

Rahul Tripathi smashed a six off the penultimate ball of the match as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Capitals by three wickets in the second IPL qualifier here on Wednesday to set up a title clash against Chennai Super Kings on Friday.

Virat Kohli and Rishab Pant crying after being eliminated or the social media emotional reaction of Maxwell/ABDV is the highlight of this IPL to me.

Normally these sort of reaction you expect in a world cup knock out games. It just goes to show how far IPL has come and how eager players are to win the coveted trophy.

Bhaag to those people who still thinks players come here for paid holidays :P

Sir its not about ipl its because when a person is giving his everything for 12 years and still not winning it hurts and even if virat was playing for some local clubs or i would say even if he was playing county for 12 years and not winning he will get emotional becauss its your body that you are giving to these leagues and in return you are getting money but not results which is actually your main aim so that hurts and mostly when your rivalries or colleagues like rohit and dhoni have already won so many times.as a professional cricketer you dont want that. Yes money matters but when your buddies are winning and you are losing you feel the heat. So its not about ipl its about winning even if its local trophy it matters. Thank you

Same thing.
Money is important and a driving factor in joining a team. But once you are on that field, you want to win badly. Ppl who say money in cricket is evil are the ones who chase it the hardest

KKR seem to be the form side, but you can never write-off CSK.

Battle between great non-performing captains and not so great but performing rituraj iyers ..

Chennai Super Kings will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 Indian Premier League final in Dubai on Friday.

MS Dhoni's CSK are hoping to win their fourth IPL title, while Eoin Morgan's KKR are bidding for their third.

The two sides have faced each other in one previous final in 2012, when KKR won by five wickets.

Here is who and what to watch out for in this year's final of the world's most lucrative Twenty20 league.

Ones to watch

CSK - MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad

CSK captain Dhoni has had a quiet tournament with the bat, but in the first qualifier he made an unbeaten 18 off six balls, hitting the 13 needed off the final over to beat Delhi Capitals.

Regardless of what happens in the final, a lot of attention will be on the 40-year-old former India skipper - will this be his last IPL game or will he be back in 2022?

England all-rounder Moeen has not been as strong with the bat since the IPL resumed last month, averaging 14.25 in eight innings in the United Arab Emirates, with two ducks, compared to 34.33 in six knocks in India.

But his bowling remains tough for batters to hit, with Moeen having one of the best economy rates in the tournament at 6.35 runs per over.

Gaikwad has formed a fine opening partnership with former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis, scoring 603 runs so far and needing just 24 more to surpass Punjab Kings' KL Rahul as the top runscorer in the 2021 IPL.

The 24-year-old, who made his India T20 debut in July but missed out on their World Cup squad, is one of only four batters in this year's tournament to hit a century, along with Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal.

KKR - Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan and Venkatesh Iyer

With Andre Russell having missed KKR's last six matches and a doubt for the final because of a hamstring injury, fellow West Indies all-rounder Narine has been key, offering aggressive hitting and tricky off-spin.

After not being selected for the T20 World Cup because of fitness concerns, Narine showed why West Indies could rue that decision with a star performance in victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator.

England captain Morgan has struggled with the bat in this year's IPL and particularly since the resumption, scoring two ducks and only passing double figures once in his last eight innings.

But his calm leadership has been crucial and the tactical battle against Dhoni will be fascinating.

Where many batters have stumbled on slower pitches in the UAE, KKR opener Iyer has flourished, scoring 320 runs at an average of 40.

The 26-year-old made his IPL debut last month and has since hit three half-centuries - more than any other KKR batter in the whole tournament - including a vital 55 off 41 balls in the second qualifier win.

Routes to the final

The 14th edition of the IPL was suspended in May, a month after it had started, because of a rise in coronavirus cases among players in India.

The tournament resumed in September in the UAE.

CSK were second in the table when the competition was suspended and held on to that spot despite losing their last three group games.

They then beat table-toppers Delhi by seven wickets in the first qualifier.

KKR were second bottom with only two wins from seven matches in India.

However, they won five of their last seven group games in the UAE to finish fourth in the table, before beating third-place finishers RCB in the eliminator on Tuesday.

KKR then survived a mighty collapse in the second qualifier to beat Delhi on Wednesday.

Both teams have only won while chasing in Dubai. So Toss is going to be a huge factor. Other than that I've to edge with KKR on this one, they're in form despite not all players firing and Russell being unavailable, imagine if they all get it going.

CSK on other hand have been carried by Faf Gaikwad up top, if they fail, then I don't really see them doing much and final could be a damp squib.

'If they are playing in Sharjah, no way. Going into Dubai, they have upper hand': Watson picks winner of CSK v KKR final

Shane Watson, former Chennai Super Kings and Australia batter, named his pick for the winner of the CSK vs KKR IPL 2021 final in Dubai.

The IPL 2021 final between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is only a couple of hours away but predictions on the winner of this edition have been picking pace since the beginning of the Playoffs. The latest ot join the bandwagon is former CSK and Australian cricketer Shane Watson.

While speaking during a chat on ‘The Grade Cricketer’s' Podcast, the former right-hander picked his favorites to win the IPL 2021 final in Dubai. As it turns out, his choice doesn't come as a surprise, because of his former association with a particular IPL team, but he also provided some very strong reasons.

"I've got CSK. Not because I am CSK through and through but going into last night's game (Qualifier 2 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals). I have got no doubt that CSK would have been more comfortable and would have preferred to play KKR in final in Dubai.

"If they are playing in Sharjah, no way. Going into Dubai, with a really good wicket, the ball doesn't turn as much; definitely, CSK would have preferred to play KKR. This is because KKR have been playing a lot of their games in Sharjah recently and there is a quick turnaround going into Dubai.

“CSK have got the upper hand because they have been playing on that wicket recently and have performed pretty well there. CSK will be high on confidence. The moment for where CSK would really go as galvanize together would be MS Dhoni scoring runs," explained Watson.

MS Dhoni-led CSK had defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 4 wickets in Qualifier 1 to directly qualify for the Playoffs. On the other hand, Eoin Morgan's KKR first had to defeat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (by 4 wickets) in the Eliminator before edging past DC in Qualifier 2 (by 3 wickets) to make the final.

CSK will be gunning for a 4th title while KKR will be eyeing their 3rd.
