MI have pulled things back here , GT seem to have batters who play well get big volume of runs but do not have the gear to fully use the starts.

GT has managed to assemble an out and out bowling unit. One leg spinner, one left arm spinner. 3 tall pacers. one skiddy pacer

Too much going on while MI is bowling, bowlers are getting multiple inputs. Rohit should allow Hardik to lead the team freely. He is showing visible disappointment when batsmen hit boundaries and appears frustrated with Hardik. He needs to remember that he is not the captain anymore.

It seems like groupism still exists within the MI team, and the body language of certain players doesn’t look good at all.

Maybe they need Bumrah back.

Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 36 runs to clinch their first win in IPL 2025

Put into bat, GT managed a total of 196/8 in 20 overs, led by B Sai Sudharsan's half-century and good contributions by captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. MI's run chase fell apart right from the first over, when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Rohit Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 48, but Prasidh Krishna bowled a superb spell to pull MI back. MI captain Hardik Pandya performed well with the ball on his return from suspension, but flopped with the bat.

Everybody said Sunrisers were a beast team. Now they have lost two matches in a row.

It is a top heavy team. We have seen ohw top heavy teams failing big time in the past. Gayle, baz, kohli, ABDV, watson played for RCB at one point coming in one after other.

Just goes to show IPL is so competitive. It’s not just about having a great team on the paper, but about having a continuously performing Team

CSK is a great example. Most of the time they had average unit with no many superstars. But they have been the most consistently successful franchisee. Never got wooden spoon. 80% of the time they reached playoffs.

They been very shrewd with their selections. They had some very solid T20 cricketers playing for them over the years. Like Raina is arguably the best Bharatiya IPL batter ever without the superstar tag. Jadeja, Bravo, Dhoni, Du Plessis etc all very On point players.

But it’s got to be the culture bro. Chennai culture is amazing

MSD + Stephen Fleming combo worked wonders. THey had deep batting line up, deep bowling ilne up. Also for majority of the IPL history they were one of the top fielding units.

Kiwis are great professionals. It was a masterstroke to hire Fleming.

The longest sixes in this IPL so far. 2 SRH boys at the top.

Nice finish.

I think this is it for Chennai this season. Dhoni, Jadeja are past their prime in IPL.

CSK with this ghatiya team deserves to be at the bottom of the table. In this day and age if you have to depend on a retired Jadeja and 42+ Dhoni to win you matches you should stick to domestic t20 leagues, IPL is not for you.

Chennai clearly looks out of sorts in this tournament. Dhoni has to open and try to hit out , he cannot be batting at number 7 or 8. Dhoni has to open and try to use the power play , a quick 20 - 25 will give them momentum.

CSK is playing outdated cricket. Its Shivam Dube or bust for them and they put him under so much pressure. Ruturaj looks a big Misbah fan with his statpadding SR. CSK has not chased a score of 180 since 2019. Can you believe that ??

And yes SRH lost but thats OK. Atleast they are not dying wondering. They will be in the play offs - they are too good not to be in the playoffs. Want to see CSK, MI out of the contentions for playoffs.

We will need to quickly rebuild. Many players from our championships winning teams are finished.

No need to rebuild I would say. There are enough quality batters for Ind. Issue is the senior leeches hanging around till eternity. The next T20 WC is in SA where scores of 180-190 plus will be needed. Ind T20 team has some amazing batting quality. They should get Patidar in the Ind t20 team.. Very good spin basher which Ind team has been missing. SKY's captaincy has been aggressive and super impressive

The next T20 World Cup is in Bharat and Sri Lanka brother

The 2027 CWC is in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia

Yeah I meant for both. In Ind too as well - you will have scores of 200 plus regularly and in SA the odi game will have evolved even more with scores of 300 being par scores in SA. So the senior leeches have to go and allow the nreer gen to prepare for the T20 WC and ODI WC. There's no way kohli klrahul rohit jadeja should be playing the next ODI wc irrespective of the CT win.

Why does CSK defeats feels so good?

:qdkcheeky
Because you guys are sadists! :)

When RCB loses to any team, I am happy. So, I am a sadist too. But they may win the title this year.

CSK,MI, and KKR are the successful teams. Hence the fans of other franchises want them to lose. Having said that, I agree with most of the posts here about CSK. They are playing in old template and they don't have good players to challenge good teams. DC, RCB, PBKS, and SRH are the top teams now.

Manjrekar somehow commented in cricinfo that time came for rohit to think about retirement every morning. Rohit have to put best effort and it's not matching with output( indirectly saying he is fone).i hope this ipl will make him retire.kohli will go only after Rohit.

I think this year bowlers have done some homework (compared to last year) they have learnt that picking wickets is the best way to put a brake on scoring... Pitches also don't seem to be too flat... A match in Bangalore should confirm this, let's see...
