You are comparing Kohli as he is now with Gill in his prime. Peak 2016-2018 Kohli was insane and could have chased down any total.

Pant was never a good T20 batsman. His whole career shows that. Nobody hyped Pant for T20. Pant is mainly hyped for Tests. He lived up to it. All bowlers who bowl at 150 k will get hyped. Mayank yadav put into place? When? He took 2 wickets on his return.

Indians are good judge of batting talent, since we have a history of producing so many. We have had so many examples of Sachin, Kohli, Rohit, Yuvi living up to their school cricket hype. If Suryavanshi was fast tracked, people must have seen something special in him.

However still very early days for him - he will be brought into our national team only after rigorous first class training.

Some guys like him get lucky. Auction day is a frenzy day. People make mistakes like this. Kareem jannat conceded 36 runs in one over to Rinku singh + Rohit sharma in a T20 international last time he played here. THat is the only reason i rememeber him. Somehow it has escaped the attention of bidders especially that team was already bowling heavy.
