What's new

IPL franchise owners openly being allowed to discriminate in non-Indian leagues?

Seems like PCB wants to save face and is refusing to provide NOCs without some assurance that their players will be picked. Can't blame them really.

There is no issue on the BCCI and franchise owner side. They only care about money and want to win.

The issue is fundamentally political and until there is political approval from the Indian government nothing will happen. I don't see anything changing with the upcoming elections in 2023 (Pakistan) and 2024 (India) elections.

Ramiz has categorically stated to all the boards barring BCCI that if they want the PCB to issue NOC's to their players for their respective leagues, these boards will have to reciprocate and issue NOC's to the players for the PSL.

This approach will only carry weight if Pakistani players are in high demand in T-20 leagues world wide.

Babar Azam being asked about benefits of playing in the IPL.

Kamran Akmal in an interview:

"Indian players should not play in the PSL. The Indian board is doing the right thing by not allowing their players to play in overseas T20 leagues. They are aware that the IPL goes on for two months, and then there is a lot of international cricket as well. The players are so strong financially that there is no need for them to go and play in other leagues.

"Our board can also learn from it as it can prolong the careers of players. They have 14 to 15 players who have played over a hundred Test matches, while we have just two or three such players. India value their cricket and their players. The IPL pays players a lot. The BBL is nothing in front of the IPL. No league in the world can match the IPL."

Have Mumbai Indians broken the mould?

With a line up like that, don’t be surprised if Numan Ali is even selected

… as a batsmen

The Shane Warne Sachin Tendulkar USA tour in 2015 apparently made losses. I question whether this league will be successful. How many matches will the desi populations turn out to watch the matches? The ILT20 had matches with empty stands.

The success of T20 Leagues depends on the support of the local population, local market and interest.

Only desi students will come to watch matches, provided ticket prices are cheap. I don't expect any local interest whatsoever. Its similar to UAE,Malaysia etc associate teams filled with Ind/Pak expat players. I don't know why ICC never supports countries like Nepal where clearly there is a massive love for this sport. What is the point of trying to break the US market. Its already saturated with NBA,NFL,MLB,Boxing etc.

SA 20 owners not picking any Pakistan players for 2024 season? Nothing has changed it seems!

What do you say @Rana?

You’ve got to hand it to Indians/Pro BJP+ Modi supporters for their ability to try and justify nonsense let me tell you.
They try to justify anything, sense nonsense it doesn't matter as long as India wins the argument

How will these owners justify to their people back home that they are hiring pakistanis?

Who will risk billions of dollars of goodwill for a stupid league?

I've asked you to read your posts before and I do so again.

If India is so hell bent on marginalising Pakistan through a sport then why does it play Pakistan in tournaments?

Somewhat hypocritical and very small minded wouldn't you say?

Why will India give Pakistan a walkover? How does it help India?

If this is the case then it is a clear violation of the spirit of cricket, which is supposed to be a game that transcends boundaries and promotes harmony among nations.
I hope that this issue is resolved soon and that franchise owners reconsider their stance and allow Pakistani players to join their teams. I believe that this would benefit not only the players, but also the leagues, the fans, and the game of cricket as a whole.

Why will India give Pakistan a walkover? How does it help India?

So excluding innocent players and tens of millions of people from watching their players to "hurt' and "marginalise" Pakistan is perfectly fine unless it costs india a couple of points in a tournament?

The idea of using sports to 'isolate' Pakistan is laughable as it is but the hypocrisy is just astonishing.

Yes its fine.

As our External affairs minister said, "We do what is beneficial for us".

What stopped pakistanis from buying teams?

lol, there’s Indian owners in almost every franchise league around the world, those franchises pick Pakistani players.

How did SRK justify to you and all the Indians back home when he hired Mohammad Hasnain in the CPL?

CPL is hardly watched in India. Gets little coverage.

SA20 and ILT20 are on prime time.

What does the viewership or coverage have to do with an Indian owned franchise hiring Pakistani cricketers? Where’s the correlation?

You do realise that the ILT20 have expressed interest in Pakistani crickets for the next season? What will you say then?

If majority dont know or don't care about an event it doesn't matter what happens there.

Some tournament of retired players was played with Indians abd Pakistanis playing together. No one bothered.

ILT20 has one non Indian owned team and they have already signed Shaheen and Shadab.

SA20 put Naseem Shah in the auction. No one bought him.

Similarly ILT20 can show interest in pakistanis, its unlikely that except desert vipers other teams will bid for them.

I give up, dude you can’t accept when you’re wrong, you just go off on a completely different path.

The issue was Indian owners buying Pakistani players. You said how will Indian owners justify to their people back home that they’re hiring Pakistanis.

Your response is that because no one watching CPL it doesn’t matter LOL.

YOU HAVE ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION LOL IM SO DONE MAN😂

Indian right wing - How will Indian owners tell their people back home that they bought a Pakistani player in a different league.

Also Indian right wing - As long as no one watches the league it’s all good.

Some bollywood walas started recording songs with pakistanis in Dubai. Initially it went well as no one knew. Everyone thought that the songs were recorded before the visa ban on pakistanis.

Once the matter came to light, bollywood got very hostile reactions. Ultimately they stopped this.

What right wing? The current hostile attitude towards Pakistan isn't limited to one spectrum.

If hardly anyone knows that Shahrukh Khan once hired pakistanis, how will there be any reaction?

And even SRK has now realised the risks of such hiring and avoids hiring pakistanis.

SA20 and ILT20 are on prime time.

No Indian was aware of SRK hiring a Pakistani in the CPL because according to you, it wasn’t on prime time.

And even SRK has now realised the risks of such hiring and avoids hiring pakistanis.

SRK is the owner of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. His franchise has hired a Pakistani. According to you, ILT20 is on prime time in India.

How will these owners justify to their people back home that they are hiring pakistanis?

Who will risk billions of dollars of goodwill for a stupid league?

How will SRK justify to you and the billions of Indians back home that’s he’s hiring Pakistani’s on PRIME TIME.

Look forward to your response, if you have one😆

Imad Wasim was born where exactly?

Born in Wales, moved to Pakistan at a young age. Has a Pakistani passport, needs a visa to play in the UK.

What’s your point?

Afaik and he has dual citizenship. So just like Azhar Mahmood or Imran Tahir played IPL, Imad Wasim is part of ILT20.

Don't be surprised if Amir plays someday after getting a British passport.

Exactly. Shoaib Bashir visa took long because of his background. Now the poster is ignoring Imad Wasim's background and indirectly implying he's not Pakistani lol. Absolute brainless stuff.
Visa took long. If it wasn't a British passport, visa may not have been granted. Hardly any pakistanis get visa to India these days.

If he had a dual citizenship he wouldn’t have needed a visa to play for the county teams.

An Indian has hired a Pakistani, risked billions for a “stupid league”, where’s the public outrage?

@Rana @Major so no Pakistan player's are selected for The hundred league

When will be PCB file a discrimination case against these league just like you advocated Against IPL team's

:kp

Not a fan of IPL franchises owning and leveraging their brands elsewhere.

This weakens the brand value of IPL and BCCI will have to step in at some point. Ask the franchise owners to reserve IPL team names exclusively and force them to dilute their ownership - either in IPL or foreign leagues. Pick one.
