Ireland v Pakistan | 1st ODI | Dublin (Malahide) | Aug 18, 2016 | Ireland Innings

Azhar MUST use 20 overs of Nawaz & Imad. As of now, Nawaz has passed the batting test, while Imad hardly has got the chance. Whoever bowls well (I am not talking about number of wickets here), should play against ENG. Also, Hasan & Gul should take the new ball - unless Wahab is dropped, one of these two should share the new ball with Aamir against ENG. In fact, I won't have bowled with Aamir at all, or may be 5 overs; rather would have given few overs to Babar.

I was thinking the same. Ideally he should but let's see if he does.
 
2 changes needed in next matches. Sami Aslam for Mohammad Hafeez and Md Rizwan for Sarfraz. Not sure how good Gul will be or Will he last until the tour ends
 
Good innings but still too many dot balls even from Sharjeel. Problem is we won't be able to hit so many boundaries so easily against other top sides so need to cut down on the dot balls. If we want to score such big totals.

As expected Aamir is opening. This guy Azhar is really difficult to like - he will use full strength to demolish Ireland & take bravado from that.
 
There is no speed gun, but I think Aamir is bowling low 80s or even high 70s. This indicates that he is not fully fit - when the tries to over stress, loses his swing a bit. Probably one year from now on (& a full FC season), heèll be able to do this at 140KM+
 
Are you serious Azhar ?
Ball is swinging and you are starting with spinner

In last test he was bowling at average speed of 84 mph

he was bowling around 86 MPH in whole Test series . i Dont think so that he is not Fit

Maybe I'll 5 overs with Amir and since he has give a wicket already.

Read my post once again - I have seen almost every ball of Aamir in Test series.
 
Clever move by Azhar to bring in Malik imo. Ireland were looking to attack the 2nd bowler and with Shobys off spin they will be careful and hopefully we can apply pressure . Good Move .

Nothing clever about it. It is the oldish Pakistani technique where we had Hafeez instead of Malik.

So, Azhar needs to apply pressure & tactics to defend 337 against Ireland? This is absolute dumb & defensive - this 2 ODI is there for testing combination before England Series, which every team touring Ireland/Scotland does. Unless, Azhar is planning to open with Malik against Hales & Co., this is absolute dumb & stupid decision. PAK is struggling for a new ball partner of Aamir and now Azhar has brought Gul, because he is senior. Every Tom, Dick & Harry knows that Gul is a better exponent of old ball & Hasan is there for the new ball.

PAK's ODI Captain is absolutely befitting the team's ranking.

This is why Azhar Ali is a terrible captain. You have a young swing bowler in the side and you open with Shoaib Malik and then bring Gul. Everybody and their granny knows that Gul isn't a new ball bowler.
 
Oh Bhai the score pressure is enough here for Azher to experiment a bit . How many overs did Malik bowl then ?

Absolutely agree with you on this. Azhar Ali is just not captaincy material.
 
Gul is bowling a tight line here ...I am impressed with the return og Gul .
 
Whyd Gul get the new ball and not Hasan. Wahab should be playing over Gul any way

For a change, my dirty mind tells it could be part of bigger plot. PAK team is full of whose who - white Kookkaburra loses shine very early, after 6 overs, this ball might not swing that much, which actually should expose a medium pacer swing bowler of 5-10, that actually would reinstall Gul & Wahab in the team smoothly. Otherwise, I have absolutely no cricket reason to explain why even a club Captain should open with Gul over Hasan.

Does it matter much - Wahab will take the new ball then, because of his seniority. Azhar knows exactly what has earned him Captaincy & what will keep him there.
