I think this thread encapsulates it . . really unfortunate, because all the signs are that Paksitan could have played a very very good match here . . the pitch, the spin that lyon extracted, the runs we have already put on the board . . its sad!
Anyway, if I were to paint a scenario . .
1.) They plan to make up an hour a day if I am not mistaken, which is 14 to 15 overs . . I am going to count that as bogus because it's not going to happen for weather as well as over rates . . so let's forget that!
2.) Discount point number 1, there are a possible 90 overs a day so meaning we have 270 overs left in the test match . .
3.) For us to have any chance of winning, the maximum overs we can lose are about 50 in the next 3 days . . so that leaves us with 220 overs
4.) In the 220 overs, Pakistan has to bowl Australia out in about 180 overs . .
5.) Assuming Australia will bat at 3.2 an over in those 180 overs, they should have a match total of about 550 runs . .
6.) That in essence means . . Pakistan will have to score a further 250 runs in the 50 overs maximum they can bat . .
and that, is the best case scenario
Coming back to reality:
We will lose another 80 to a 100 overs in this test match . .
Pakistan will dominate the rest of the game and on Day 5, we will all be creating threads about how we should be have been 1 - 1 because we played so well but got really unlucky!
