Look at his versatility:

A party song.

A ghazal.

I have never seen such a versatile singer in any language.

In terms of versatility, no one comes close to Kishore Kumar in my humble opinion.

Funny songs, love songs, sad songs, feel-good middle of the road songs like 'chala jata hoon', 'musafir hoon yaaro' etc etc.

I love Arijit, but Kishore is king.

Yes.. but Rafi could sing based on the how actor would act in the song(as per Shammi).
In terms of movies Rafi and Kishore are numero uno..

so yeah Arijit is the best of last decade though..

IMO KK is better than Arijit but the versatility of Arijit is unmatched

He has improved in leaps and bounds over the past decade, I remember listening to him in some competition way back and he sounded like he was singing in the shower but due to hard work and determination he has transformed into an amazing singer, so kudos to him for that.

As for most versatile ever, there are a few who are better than him, although he still has time to further improve.

What do you think about Shankar?/

What do you think about Shankar?/

Shankar Mahadevan?

Actually come to think he has a larger range than Arijit since he was classically trained.

If you want versatility, watch this fun video of him getting into a (somewhat drunk :asif) deul with another legend that is Hariharan

Yeah he participated in Fame Gurukul along with Qazi Tauqeer of Kashmir who actually won that show. Now a days you can see Qazi singing Arijit's songs and posting them on his youtube channel. :inti

He isn't a versatile singer nor best of the decade. In terms of bollywood playback singer, yes. But overall, definitely not.
