I'm just being told that he's holding the innings together, shsssssshhhhhPlaying for his fifty... irrespective of match situation
Golden boy![]()
Saved by umpire this time, just gave away the wicket after his 50, I'd honestly have Umar Akmal over him at this stage.
At least he pretends to play according to the situation of the game.As in the guy who failed seven fitness tests in a row and averaged in his 20s for the last couple of years in ODIs before being dropped?![]()

He's been in awful form.
This is a good innings to get him out of the rut. Has made sure PAK didn't collapse.
Let others carry responsibility of scoring while played at a pathetic rate. Got a life on 50. His strike rate was 65 in an ODI match Rofl.
Someone had to bat on.
Quick 30s and 40s don't cut it either.

But 60 off 90 balls, seriously?

Comeon guys he's so young he will learn)
He just started his 3rd full year in ODI cricket team, and has been a consistent squad player in all formats for atleast 1 year
More like someone had to hold one end up and hold back to put more pressure on the partner to play scoring shots. Selfish innings and contributed to the dismissals of his partners who had to make up for the slow rate on which Azam played.
He has more experience than Fakhar Zaman, who not only faces the new ball but is maintaining an average of around 60 with a strike rate of 110 while playing only 5-6 matches. And Zaman scored against better teams not West Indies.
If he attacked, PAK would be 150 ALL OUT.
Let's not give that much credit to the likes of Hafeez.
PP overs are the best time to bat in ODI cricket especially in Dubai.

He isn't a hack, make some effort and look up for his odi stats. An avg of 35 with 85 strike rate is pretty healthy for a hack who's regularly in and out of the team.By attacking in all situations like a brainless hack?![]()
OMG it is Misbah all over again. That is what Misbah fans used to say.... they wanted us to believe that if Misbah bats more than 60 SR all hell will break lose, Pak will be dismissed for 150, moon will split in half, rivers will start running in reverse, trees will dies down, there will be world famine, deadly plagues will eliminate half of world population.
The fact is after Mr. Tuk Tuk's retirement Pakistan ODI batting has improved drastically.

Twisting stats to suit your argument wouldn't help you. It actually means he's even better away from home which can't be said about most of our batters. In UAE: 27 AVG with SR of 76 (31 Matches)
This is the guy you wanted today?
If Babar Azam's scoring avenues are blocked, he looks like AHmed Shehzad, why am I not surprised by this
This was sarcasm my brother!! Azam is one of the most experienced players in the side currently. He is almost from the same time Sarf became a consistent player in the ODI team (2015) and has played the same number of games as him.
Babar Azam 31 ODIs
Junaid Khan 62 ODIs
Sarfaraz Ahmed 75 ODIs
Ahmed Shehzad 79 ODIs
Mohammad Hafeez 190 ODIs
Shoaib Malik 252 ODIs
I fail to see how Babar is 'one of the most experienced players in the side'...
Babar holding the innings together atm - think a few people have some issues about him
Holding the inns? A flat wicket, everyone else scoring a run a ball and babars batting like hes plsying for a draw. Pretty selfish and poor inns
He does start off a little bit like Shehzad but mostly make up for it. There's a reason why Shehzad averages 33 @ 72 while Babar doesn't...
Of course, over the course of his career Babar will be expected to improve the pace of his innings.
Babar is a slight upgrade on Shehzad. He will eventually get found out and his avenues blocked.
At least he pretends to play according to the situation of the game.
Completely agree , any opener who does strike below 100 consistently is average . you do expect your No3 to be striking above 90 as well ,as on an average they do get to play 8-9 overs of pp .
Srilankans don't look to flustered. They will be keen to chase down anything below 300. I think they won't mind that.
SR of Babar is 88...

I hope you own up to this nonsense.

He has an average of 50+ and 7 centuries in 38 matches. I’ll give you credit if he fails for another year.I would ask some people to own up to abuse I was hurled at when Bobby was destroying Lanka![]()
Give him zimbabwe in next series and there will be tons, double tons and all will be forgetten, he cant even play pace overseas.
He has an average of 50+ and 7 centuries in 38 matches. I’ll give you credit if he fails for another year.
5 100s in the UAE, most of them are against WI or SL as well..He has an average of 50+ and 7 centuries in 38 matches. I’ll give you credit if he fails for another year.
Amir won Pakistan Test matches overseas and a CT.No, the honor goes to Mohammad Aamir.

What has Babar Azam done?
A lot of that hype is justified by performances. The question is whether whether Babar is the most over-hyped player in Pak cricket history. No, he's not. Aamir has been way more hyped and has been a much bigger disappointment over a much longer stretch of time.
A lot of that hype is justified by performances.
Other than bullying minnows, what has Babar Azam accomplished so far to be talked about so highly?
The commentators today even brought up how he had scored 5 of his 7 100s in the UAE.
It's okay every players has a rough series.
Look at Mahela. Averages 33 in ODIs but he is still a legend.
Look at Kohli. The second ranked Test batsman and potential GOAT but look at the series he had in England.
Maybe a couple of more poor ODIs and Babar's place could be in question. But for now keep him in the team and I think he can be one of Pakistan's best batsman of all time.
He won't be dropped but 31 runs in 5 innings is just.... atrocious.
Kohli has a 150+ score in the 2nd test against deadly attack. Though it was a lost match, he atleast fought for it. bringing up these comparisons to justify abysmal performances of another individual is a joke. It's okay every players has a rough series.

It seems the guy has gotten more selfish as the years have progressed, or maybe its just teams know where is shot selection is and block his areas. Just like they did with Ahmed Shehzad
I don't understand your logic. What his selfishness has to do with his failures or vice versa? You are saying he is not making runs out of selfishness? How does it benifit him? It may be his incompetence but selfishness, Nah!
No his strike rate in the recent series vs Srilanka was 74, a huge drop from 80s and 90s he was reaching before.

Babar's record is pretty average if you get rid of SL and WI.
