Should Pakistan make use of him form and give him the confidence by moving him up the order. It’ll only improve his game further with added responsibility.

For the ODIs against SA, Pakistan should look to go with this line up.

I UL HAQ
M RIZWAN +
B AZAM *
S SHAKEEL
H ALI
F ASHRAF
I WASIM
S KHAN
H ALI
S AFRIDI
M HASNAIN

Based in current form yes. With so many part timers the best strategy is to goby current form

I don’t think so.

Faheem has always been a good hard wicket cutter and puller.

But bowlers will soon enough work out that he is suspect against any bowler who brings him into the front foot.

I don’t think he’d have any problems playing at #6 in LOIs.

Faheem Ashraf - As a temporary dashing T20I opener?

Seeing a lot of complaints recently that we bat too slow in the initial power plays and need a fast fix.

Forget about Sharjeel Khan, Azam Khan or Adam Khan.

Let’s give Faheem a shot. He’s already shown he’s more of a batting all rounder than a bowling all rounder anyway, let’s just take full advantage of his batting form and make him open.

Could be a discount version of Rohit’s story from a dull middle order batsman to a DASHING opener.

Maybe Faheem can do it. Have no hope from the other guys down the order anyway.

Will management have the cojones or are we wasting a promising DASHER?

A 30 off 15 upfront could go a long way to snatching early game momentum.

Doesn't look any worse than the current middle order players. If we can promote Shadab to 5 in T20s, then why can't Faheem get a go higher up the order especially if he's in good form? If it works great, if not then we just bring him back lower down the order.

Well he is definitely better than Khushdil and Iftikhar lol

Faheem is a very good batsman against pace. Proper cricketing strokes, so I think 6 is about right where he should be coming in around the 14th over mark

No

He’s a bowling all rounder and using his good form with the bat as an opener will only be a detrimental to his development. We need a specialist opener. Rizwan and Babar will do against B and C teams like the current SA team. Against the likes of India, Australia and England they will struggle.

It’s laughable to think he would flourish as an opener like Rohit Sharma, he’s in a class of his own.

Get rid of the dead bats like Iftikhar and Khushdil and replace them with genuine match winners. Keep babar and Rizwan to open until Misbah uses his brain and realizes we don’t have a modern day opener other than Sharjeel. Slide Azam into the middle order as a specialist batsman and keep the gloves to Rizwan.

I'd go with Asif Ali, he likes fast bowling and often gets out caught on the boundary after a few big hits. Also very very average against spin, not someone you could rely on through the middle-end overs

Can move up to 6, on current form I'd say he's a better bat than Imad and Shadab. Hope his PSL side sends him in even earlier at 4 or 5 though so we can see if he's cut out for it

Give him the license to go after the bowling. He usually holes out in the last 5 overs. Atleast he can take advantage of the fielding restrictions this way

The dashing big hitting should be coming from the middle-order. Babar and Rizwan will do well batting at the top.

What was Faheem's batting performance in any form of cricket before NZL tour. He bowling is still awful in bowling . Let him settle down in any role before making him dashing or what not ?

No, a very bad call and it might destroy his career altogether. At best you can move him one position up, at #6.

imo, the best call atm would be to have Haider open with Rizwan. You can't afford to have two 120-130 SR batsmen opening the innings in a t20. Babar needs to go 1 down to allow for Haider to open and play his shots. Haider and Rizwan will also be good for Rizwan as it'll ease pressure off him

Faheem Ashraf - Strike Rate in T20Is

v Pace - 153.1
v Spin - 48.6

Weird comparison. Faheem mostly plays at no 7 or lower in t20s. He usually comes out to bat in slog overs when fast bowlers are operating. Don't think there is enough sample size of him facing the spinners in t20s to make such a comparison.

Was given the license to go for the kill and showed his worth in the powerplay with a good cameo that kept IU ahead of the run rate.

Slotted at number 7 in the Pak team list - which I presume is the batting order also - against Zimbabwe!

He is pushing for a spot up the order, probably at 6. However we have a settled middle order right that he just isn't good enough to move into so he'll have to keep playing at 7.

If everyone wants to bat up the order , who will bat down ? There has to be some good coach who can identify the exact roles of each player , but unfortunately, Pakistan has likes of Misbah and Waqar , who are not good enough to mentor a school team

So Pakistan playing with one less batsman - or guess Pakistan dont think much of his batting!?

Misbah the genius at it again. He has been doing so well in test format and he has dropped him to accommodate a buzurg trundler.Misbah go away.
