Is Game of Thrones the greatest TV show of all time?

Go ahead and show me how Breaking bad has a case over games of thrones.

Let me start.

Breaking bad: oh geez this dude suffers from an incurable disase and started to live a double life to leave back some money however he needs to hide it from his nagging wife and kid. I hate how he is constantly panicked, frustrated and in passive aggressive mode while rarely shows a backbone to stand on his own ground. A whole episode on trying to get rid of a fly? Are you freaking kidding me? Not everyone is a neurotic nerd.

Games of thrones: so many different emotional, inspiring and thoughtful stories to follow and ponder upon. To just name a few: the question about God and power of religious manipulation. A son's inability to please his father not due to a lack of talent but due to physical limitations. A sister sold out by her own brother for power. The question of what makes you a "wilding" and what makes you civilized. An illegal son looking to find some meaning in life. The greed for power amongst men. The double games, manipulation and treason.

If you like to be entertained by watching a wimpy guy getting panic atracks all the time and getting nagged by his wife. He is busting his balls day and night but still can't command respect from his family than perhaps breaking bad is for you. The good parts of the show get heavily overshadowed by the bads one.

If however you like to have your believes about life questioned. Like to think about different dynamics at play. Like to think about the father-son relationship, and like to see what greed, manipulation, self-entitlement and power hunger can do to people. Like to observe and ponder how being just, righteous, selfless or even just an ordinary good person could ever be possible in such a setting. Then GOT is your thing.

Lmao I don’t even know where to start  I guess some people just can’t comprehend what real quality is and that’s ok

The show again has a terrible fan base. Try criticizing the obviously awful season 7 writing filled with plot holes and plot armour in front of them and their reply is “DOnt wATch iT iF YoU doNt LikE iT”. These people are just blind fans who fail to understand that one can like a show but still criticize it. Too many sheep in this world. Either that or they are so blind when it comes to their fanbo y ism that they purposefully overlook these obvious flaws that ruined what should’ve been a very good season.

Today I read someone say Breaking Bad is mediocre because it is a show about a dude who suffers from an incurable disease and starts to live a double life and tries to hide it from his family. But a show where 5 men on cracking ice manage to survive a whole day against thousands of undead warriors while one of their guys runs back miles and delivers a message to a different city which allows a lady to come save them with her dragons all in a space of one day is just so amazing.

This is the problem with viewers today. Any kind of nuance and subtext is just completely lost on them. Atleast Breaking Bad is one of the most popular shows ever but its unfortunate how many high quality movies and shows are just overlooked in place of mediocrity like 13 reasons why because people actually believe that kind of trash is complex. I’m not a GOT hater (in fact I was obsessed with the show during the first 4 seasons and have re watched it multiple times). But there’s just better stuff out there. Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sooranos, The Shield for example

aliasad1998 Whats your guilty pleasure show? I loved supernatural till season 5 and IMO had they decided to hang on the boots at that, it would have been considered a classic in the upcoming years.
Sadly money took precedence once again thus turning it into an absolute joke rendering it unwatchable afterwards.

Probably How I Met Your Mother

I think Breaking Bad is a better show than Game Of Thrones. This is because GOT has too many plotholes in recent seasons that cannot be ignored. While BB was almost perfect in that regard.GOT is an absolutely fantastic show, but the storylines have been messed up bigtime by the directors, who showed how bad they actually were, when they ran out of GRRM's material to adapt.

Breaking Bad cares for every character, storyline and doesn't mess up any logic.

It has to be.I don't see any reason why it isn't. Nothing comes close , not even the wire , sopranos or breaking bad. This is the GOAT material right here .
Discuss.

Thinking again a year later.....

No.

It’s the grandest, it’s got the biggest scope, and I don’t want it to end. I am emotionally invested in it and have a horrible idea that Dany and Jon won’t make it to the last reel.

But some of the characters are limited in dimension and sometimes it loses a bit of internal logic.

The Wire is such a study in complex character, and grand themes such as how institutions corrode morality.

Not a line is wasted in BB. Every word seems to move the plot forward. It’s so taut and tense.

Just saw this post of mine. Thank Goodness.
Not even in top 10.
And yes I was drunk when I made this thread.

I don't understand, why do you guys revert to Pakpassion when drunk lmao. There's so many other thrilling things you can do while drunk, how is creating a thread on PP one of them :)))

I say this because there are a few more posters who go on drunken thread making escapades.

Last season was hogwash. So, now I would rank both sopranos and wire higher.

Not a fan of last season of wire but it still was better than GoT

Question to all those who posted on this thread bar one, it might be overrated but that still doesn't make it bad, you need a certain suspension of belief and dramatic license. I hear you some times during the last season, especially in the set-piece episodes, some of the holes were as big as the ones in the ice but come on after six invested seasons it did more than satisfy, I haven't read the books, so my question is how many of you have? Read the books that is.

The first 4 seasons were really something special. It was up there with Breaking Bad, The Wire and The sopranos for me then but not after the last 3 seasons. 5 was terrible. 6 had some great parts but overall was just good and 7 was visually awesome but had awful writing

I've always been quick to call out the lack of quality in the recent GOT seasons instead of getting caught up in the hype, wouldn't rank this show in my top 5. The later seasons have suffered from pacing issues and a big emphasis on filler which could have been used to build towards the finishing stretch, clever writing also wouldn't need them to spend so much per episode.
