Is India falling prey to the same wishful thinking as Pakistan?

I have noticed PP being highly critical over reinstatement of Kamran Akmal into the the Pakistani team mainly because of his age. This despite the fact that he outperformed in the domestic season and Pakistan are lacking an opening batsman who can provide impetus at the top for which Kamran is a perfect fit. He also did not get enough games to settle down and prove his worth.

India too have brought in Yuvraj Singh and in all probability feature in Champions Trophy too. Given that PP has been critical of Kami's inclusion, does the same apply for Yuvraj too?

I think Yuvraj is back because of his 150 recently against England. Hard to say no to a batsman when he has just played the best ODI innings among all batsmen for his country in the past few months.

Insulting to compare Yuvraj, who was a brilliant ODI player with trash like Kamran.

When will people understand, it is not that Kami is past his prime or in form or scored recently, the reality is he has been given ample opportunity and has never performed apart from the odd fluke innings. He has terrible technique, no footwork, atrocious fitness, was the worst keeper to ever play international cricket and is even worse at fielding.

Well Kamran has never been a match winner for Pakistan and with Sarfaraz as their captain and w/k , Kamran is quite dispensable. Secondly, with limited to being only a pure batsman and with his fielding skills his chance of being a liability is much higher than Yuvraj who can still be quite a useful fielder , bowling option and coming good with runs

Lol comparing Yuvraj to Akmal is a joke in itself. Despite his inconsistency Yuvraj is a match winner who has the ability to play impactful knocks and can also be useful with the ball. Plus his recent 150 against England more than warrants a place in the side.

Difference is we have other people as alternate options for final 11 even with Yuvi in squad , do you guys have that luxury?

Yuvraj would still walk in Pakistan's side

its just that India has youngsters knocking on the doors

We have Pandey, Jadhav, Pant, Raina, Rahane as middle order options other than usual suspects like Dhoni and Kohli and 2 openers.

My combo would be to have Pant, Rahul, Kohli, Jadhav, Dhoni, Pandey/Raina as top 6. Yuvraj clicks 1 out if 3 times and young guns are far better fielder than him.

Most Indian fans think they lack in batting with the likes of Dhawan, Yuvi and Dhoni all over the hill.

Very little wishful thinking.

We are quick to criticize 35 YOM Kamran who got selected after a strong domestic performance in all form of cricket but are OK with inclusion of a 43 YOB with dreadful performance in Test, FC cricket and PSL , what a double standard.

Yuvi was inconsistent whe nhe was young and fit, his last century was the first in 5 years. Plus away from Asia, he is the most average ODI batsman out there.

At any day he's better than those Akmals, Shahzad, Hafeez, YK and Malik.

which universe is he better than YK? perhaps you mean just ODIs

Atm i think him and malik are equal level. malik maybe slightly higher

Yuvraj is pretty overhyped, as evident by this thread, but there is still no comparison between him and Kamran. Kamran is horrible at cricket, Yuvraj can still be useful on his day.

Only if you read carefully what OP said, of course we're talking about LOI and not tests. And Yuvi is a proven match winner with the ability to play in pressure situations, can't say the same about Malik.
