They can use them for their own personal agendas and political motives, who wrote such constitution which makes army so powerless?

In a democracy the Army obeys the civilian govt. Thank god my country doesnot have army doing coups and generals ruling as dictators.

You have radical religious nutjobs in power. I'd take an army ruling over such extremists any day.

Democracy is flawed to when the people who vote are too stupid to undesrtand politics and needs of the nation.

Imo the most important thing is to have a great, honest and genuine leader be it army rule or elected by the people.

So what is the perfect or best system of Govt according to you?

1.We have a elected leader in place who can be removed whenever the people vote againist him.

2.What you would take may apply to Pakistan, thank god we hardly have such thoughts in India.

3. Indians understand politics and the need of their nation. If foreigners dont like it, well deal with it because no one in India will vote according to what non Indians think.

I think it is right that the army should know it's place and leave the government of the country to a civilian administration. Just because Indian public is relatively naive and easily led doesn't mean the system is wrong. The govt reflects the people, and if we have a fundamentalist Hindutva govt in power currently, then at least it is representative of the Indian vote base. That is how democracy works.

Can you give any reasons as to why India inc yourself have voted for a party of Hindu extremists?

It is safe to say that Democracy doesn’t function in India; a system copied from the Western world.

Indian democracy has lead to Hindu Extremists in power, who effectively have control of WMDs.

I rather have the control of WMDs in the hands of a responsible Military than in the hands of Extremists.

Such is the irony behind the war on terror.

You got it all wrong here. It's well documented that the nuke threat is the highest in Pakistan because of extremists. Now what's irony is you.....

Citing a 2009 article is pure jokes, but I will laugh along.

It is well documened that Modi was banned for religious extremism in the international sphere, Imran Khan, heck even Nawaz Shareef, were never banned for extremism.

Note the reference is to leaders, not civilians, because it is elected leaders who have control of a nation's military, and with Modi's track record, India is a ticking time-bomb - no pun intended.

I think most armies are like that one way or another. Only difference is the Indian army is ruled by a terrorist and illiterate man.

Despite labeling Pak an extremists nation by geo-political parties and promoting fear of nukes falling into radicalized extremists hands, Pakistan has never elected radicalized extremists as PM to represent them.

Whereas the largest democracy in the world and despite being one of the most educated country in the world has not only elected a radicalized extremists Hindu PM, who for political gain started a war on false pretense and continue war mongering.

Not only politicians but the so called independent media of India also took the majority of the gullible Indians for a ride by day in day out drumming the superiority over Pakistan’s military, media independency (an illusion) in India, fake illusion of isolating Pakistan, and claiming that Pakistanis are more radicalized than Indians despite the fact when India had elected radicalized extremists Hindu lunatic who openly support and supported by radicalized extremists Hindu group such as RSS.

So when supporters of radicalized extremists Hindu PM and radicalized extremists Hindu groups here sound like loud mouth aunty of India, Arnab, and claim that Indian understands politics and the need of nation then understand that they support extremists Hindu groups as long as they are promoting violence against Pakistan and Kashmiri.

Back to OP, off course the Indian army is forced to be a puppet, I highly doubt that most Indian soldiers want to go to a war, recent events has clearly demonstrated that.

Laughing along wont change the views on Pakistan.

It is also well document that Modi was denied visa as he was facing charges and has since been exonerated and has been welcomed all around the world.A sitting US President found it necessary to write a article in a magazine praising Modi.

Neither Modi nor anyone in India was found harbouring people like OBL or Hafiz Saeed.

So its obvious which country's leadership has issues.

Heck even Masood Azhar wasn't banned for terrorism!!

Denied is not the same as banned, but do not take my word for it:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-narendra-modi-was-banned-from-the-u-s-1399062010

Do you really believe the world respects India? India was a laughing stock until Manmohan Singh softened foreign investment rules which gave birth to Indian’s booming economy. The nations mentioned, and many others, just want a slice of the pie and are playing the game.

I mean, Modi on his world tour asked UK, USA et al to lift/raise the cap on Indian immigrants, and his request was shot down before he could finish his sentence. Heck Trump even reduced the quota for Indian H1 VISA applicants!

This doesn’t sound like respect to me.

So what if OBL was found in Pakistan, he was on the CIA payroll up until the Afghan war ended. Hafiz Saeed? Charged by the same institutions that banned Modi? Sure.

Ban is what was on OBL on Hafiz Saeed and others. Modi was only denied visa and stopped from going to USA.

Which country was or is laughing stock is not for anonymous posters on forums to decide. But Indian leaders were creating new countries, making nukes and were having a space programme way back in 70s and 80s.Ofcourse being closer to the soviets meant India was never close to US. But Indians were at no point in time on extreme visa vetting lists of the US.

The UK PM came to India looking for a FTA. She was told the terms if she wanted a FTA. Indian PM didnot go asking for a deal.

OBL or Hafiz Saeed are UN sanctioned terrorist. Its sad you think there is nothing wrong in harbouring the likes of them.

Please do show me the UN resolution that says Modi is banned.

Wrong. OBL was wanted, not banned.

What is sad is the people of India have voted a Saffron terrorist as their leader. A sheer sign of a successful democracy if there ever was one.

The rest of your post is just chest-thumping.

It's sad you come here everyday to compare India
with Pakistan which has been at war and fighting your intelligence agency for 4 decades. You guys have no shame picking on a country 1/5 your size. If India had faced even 10% of what Pak has then you wouldn't be here bragging. Given India has not been involved in any wars and does not face adversary 5x its size, it has massively underachieved. Why is India's economy still 1/6th of China's economy despite all of western 'support'?

OBL or Hafiz Saeed or Masood Azhar are banned individuals with whom no US entity can have any relations.

Modi was denied visa for alleged failure to uphold freedom of religion.

Calling someone a terrorist on a online forum doesnot make anyone a terrorist. Thats your desperation speaking.

Much like repeating yourself doesn't make a point credible. Though I do find it intriguing that on one hand you do not care what other nations think, but then when you believe it bolsters your argument, you are quick to sing the hymn.

Are you aware of how a star functions and ends? I ask because there is a clear parallel between India and a star.

India believes it is a rising star on the global stage, but you see at the core of a star you have Nuclear Fusion, where two atoms collide to create a new element and the difference in mass is converted to energy. This is akin to Hindu extremism in India where Hindus collide with Non-Hindus, resulting in a wave of right-wing Hindu energy. Now, in a star, the energy attempts to escape the surface but it is drawn towards the centre by a force known as gravity, or in India’s case, the force of insecurity trying to escape the relics of British rule. However, it is well known that in the end, gravity always wins, and ultimately the star will collapse thus ending in a spectacular Supernova, in the same way India will implode spectacularly as right-wing Hindu nationalism becomes self-indulgent.

1. This thread was not started by me. It was started by a non Indian. PP has lots of threads on India, including on topics like Indian elections.

2. If you go back and read history. Pakistan started the war in 65 and it has continued since then. Pakistan supports a secessionist terrorist movement in J and K. Pakistan refuses to abide by signed agreements like Shimla Agreement.

3. What western support? Indian economy is 5th largest in the world. Only 2 western economies are larger.

Shifting the goal posts doesn't change the fact Modi was banned on religious terrorism charges.

I pointed out some facts and now you are on damage control mode.

Good night.

You need to try harder. Modi was never banned. A visa denial is not a ban.

Then again you think harbouring terrorists is no big deal.

Adding salt to facts to buttress your claims doesnot prove anything. It only makes you look salty. Less Namak and more facts help in discussions.

Lots of rhetoric, but no substance with this one.

If I go read history India started insurgency in Pakistan that lead to creation of Bangladesh.

Indian economy is 5th largest in the world, 3rd largest in Asia still behind Japan and far behind China. But #1 in population.

In a democracy civilians make the decisions, not generals........This is what Jinnah said on the military:

“Do not forget that the armed forces are the servants of the people. You do not make national policy; it is we, the civilians, who decide these issues and it is your duty to carry out these tasks with which you are entrusted.”

First of all 1971 comes after 1965. What was Pakistan trying to do with OP Grandslam? Any idea?

India is number 2 in population and no.5 in the size of economy. For a country that won its independence from a colonial superpower around 70 years ago, its not bad. Could India had done better? May be we could have. But we have done well.

As is the case with any country, Indian army is the puppet of its establishment which in Indias case is heavily dominated by its intelligence agencies and bureaucracy. Notice even a passive highly educated and liberal Congress leader like Manmohan Singh was co-opted and forced to toe a hawkish line when it came to Pakistan.

Armies need to be the puppets of civilian government. That's actually a good thing:))

Armies shouldn't run around grabbing power or conspire against their own civilian governments.

Armies need to be the puppets of civilian governments. And that is a good thing. But when that civilian government is run by a right wing terrorist group, that becomes a problem.

Do you really believe the world respects India?

Respect is earned, not given. The world respects India as the fastest growing major economy, and on its way to soon becoming the world's 3rd largest economy.

India was a laughing stock until Manmohan Singh softened foreign investment rules which gave birth to Indian’s booming economy.

If you give Manmohan Singh any credit for liberalizing the economy of India, you are pretty clueless about how it happened.

Manmohan Singh was very much a part of the bureaucratic apparatus of socialist India which put independent India in a hole for over 4 decades. During those 4 decades there were many free market economists like Omkar Goswami pleading for liberalization and the end of the "license raj", pointing out that East Asian countries were booming while India stagnated.

The top bureaucrats like Manmohan Singh were very happy with socialist India, it was only when it became very obvious how far India had fallen behind, and the financial crisis of the early 1990s that forced them to change.

Overall, the contribution of bureaucrats like Manmohan Singh to the socialist stagnation of India is much greater than any contribution they may have made to India's economic takeoff after liberalization.

So who decides who is terrorist group?

It's overblown man. Most of it is rhetoric. Did Modi attack Pakistan after their pilot was captured? India has enough checks and balances like any democracy

On India's insistence a number of Pakistani organisations and individuals are either on UN terror list or on EU,US,UK,Australia etc terror lists.

Pakistan ofcourse hasnt managed to do the same to Indians.

Result is that in frustration they call XYZ Indian or Indian organisations terrorists on online platforms. Because thats the max they can do as hardly any country takes cognizance of their narrative.

So what good has declaring them as terrorists done for India?

Last time I checked, Indian media claimed a Pakistani based terrorist organization killed 40 odd Indian Army soldiers. Then IAF did fake surgical strikes killing a couple of trees. In response PAF shot down 2 of IAF's jets and captured a pilot.

This is the right view. the army obeys the civilan government.
In this case however, the armed forces are caught in tough place, having to fabricate evidence for some aspects of the last month.

1. Look who is on FATF list. Which country's citizens have to go through extreme vetting for visas etc etc.

2. Indian media didnot claim JeM claimed the attack.

3. In response PAF lost a F16 and India lost a mig 21. The Indian pilot drank tea in Pakistan and was strutting home in 48hrs. While pakistan airspace still has NOTAMs.

Hahahah shot down F-16... why stop at one. Abhinandan shot down five F-16s and then landed his plane and ordered chai like a boss. There are no limits on fiction :))

If Abhinandan was such a hero why did he have to go for two week long debriefing and then sent on medical leave?

As for FATF, fun fact after Pulawama attack and Pakistan victory, India wanted Pakistan put on black list of FATF but the move was rejected and Pak remains on grey list with a possibility to move to white list in June.

The NOTAMs are necessary because there were reports that IAF will send planes towing closely behind civilian jets for a surprise attack. Yet another win for Pak, averting Indian designs through superior intelligence.

I know it hurts you to the core, but reality is a lot different to what you are used to.

Army is under the democratically elected Govt . I do not think the Pakistani model is exemplary .

So there are people in Indian who believe IAF shot down F16.

what is wrong with y'all?

It is a serious question, what is wrong with y'all?

you can always discredit any claim with evidence.

Stop being elementary and don't let your false/negative nationalism take over your critical thinking.

Last 70 years how many years has Modi ruled ?? Indians made a choice in 2014 after being convinced by Modis development agenda. Its elections time again now ppl will decide who will rule again.

LOL, such a bad thing that the Indian military works under the Indian Govt.

What’s ideal is what has happened in Pakistan all these years. To hell with democracy. A military dictator is anyday better.

Not the point. You asked for a basis, and got it.

Please, for the love of sanity, be sure to spread the news.

yes , once Modi was refused VISA to USA & Hafiz Saeed & Masood Azhar are social workers , got it & yes , Laden was just loitering around when the evil Americans found him next to a military compound - damn , it is a conspiracy WITHOUT BASIS :)

LOL, such a bad thing that the Indian military works under the Indian Govt.

To be fair, this didn't work out too well given the recent pistol-whipping Indian army received at the hands of the Pakistan army. This can mean 1 of 2 possibilities. 1. The Indian Government are incompetent and have no idea what they are doing, or 2. The Indian Army are incompetent and have no idea what Pakistan is capable of. I am not sure which is worse, perhaps both.

Oh my. Despite the proof that USA/UK banned Modi, you call it a conspiracy, without basis. I pity your kind.

Just fess up you learned something new today.

Thank goodness we don't have a terrorist as our leader. We don't have Hindutva leader as our leader, nor a person who orchestrated the first genocide of the 21st century against Muslims. Thank goodness we don't have an uneducated chai wala war monger. Lastly, thank goodness we don't have people who blindly follow their leader without questioning him.

Pakistan Zindabad!

Thank God your opinion means zero in India.

Superb! You are now using the term *Banned* and not *Denied*.

Slowly but surely.

Love it.

:)

Nice try at bandying words. Doesnot prove anything. You have tried this for so many years.Dont you get tired.

No alleged saffron terror organisation is on any terrorist list anywhere in the world today. There is no saffron terrorism.

But i can list some pakistanis on various banned lists though.

Yawn.

You used the term *banned* in your post, not I. The truth is the easiest thing to remember after all. Modi was BANNED. No amount of tearful folly can change this fact.

Typical of people like you shifting the blame on to others.

And please, save the English slang, it doesn't suit you.

Your first terrorist was Zia , unmatched legacy who took Pakistan towards World Domination - oh, he was wearing a Uniform , how complicated :)

The term banned is pretty easy for you to remember. Isnt it?

Modi got a rockstar welcome in US. A sitting US president praised him by writing a article on him in Time. Modi addressed the US congress. No amount of bandying words on online forums will change the fact that while India gets a number of Pakistani organisations and persons on terror sanction list of US UN UK EU etc, Pakistanis can only do so on online platforms.

Hence the frustration.

Pakistan may have its fault, but no Pakistani leader was ever banned from entering the USA/UK based on religious terrorism charges, unlike Modi. Oh what joy and irony!

Such a delightful fact.

:)

I never understood how praising an Indian leader is considered an achievement in India? Is this because praise is non-existent in India? Who knows. I remember how some Indians were jumping for joy when Modi gave his right wing speech in English. I was like, and? Is this the first leader in India who could speak English? What a disgraceful achievement.

I mean, Imran Khan is praised and respected world, and this before he became PM. As it has been said, actions speak louder than words - no pun intended.

Yes, when is the movie coming out?

No sitting Indian PM was stopped at US airport and frisked and searched. Pakistani PM was.

Zia, who helped US defeat Russia? Atleast he use to visit US regularly and was never banned to enter that place. Speak about your own chaiwala terrorist, who killed all those Muslims in Gujrat and Kashmir. He is still doing that, where is the outrage?
