Is Mohammad Hafeez selfishly excluding national team rivals from the Lahore Qalandars XI?

LQ finally seemed to have learnt their lesson when it came to choosing their squad and focussed on choosing players who could form a strong middle order to stop the collapse/build on the platform made by their openers.

Yet when it comes to choosing the XI they choose a middle order of Devcich, Taylor and Brathwaite??

That means...

Agha Salman (LQ's best perfomer last season) is left to sit on the bench.

Haris Sohail (brought in to the squad to strengthen the middle order and has shown he is excellent in the UAE) is left to sit on the bench.

Saad Ali (the lesser of the three options in T20 but still...) another middle option is left to sit on the bench.

So, all three middle order Pakistani basmen (with at least one of them being a direct rival to Hafeez for the national team) are left to warm the bench by captain Hafeez. Is Hafeez really so selfish he would risk underrmining LQ just to save his own spot in the national team?

Braithwaite is pretty mediocre. Since that World T20 has performance, he really hasn’t done much. He gets smashed with the ball and mostly fails with the bat. I would replace him with any of the local batsman.

Agreed, but I'm sure they keep him for the bowling option. And yeah every now and then he has an ok day when he doesn't concede too many and takes a wicket.

Can you guys confirm that Haris Sohail is fit or are you overreacting as always? Last I read, Haris Sohail was going to give the PSL a miss because of his knee.

Saad Ali could probably play but I haven't actually seen him play. He is someone that I actually want to see play but then who do you drop unless AB decides to keep wickets.

Agha Salman is blatantly average. Devcich is a better batsman and bowler than him. I am pretty sure that Agha Salman is not a threat for Hafeez. In fact, I think Corey Anderson should be playing ahead of both.

Tha biggest issue LQ have is they only picked Taylor as a keeper. Taylor isn't good enough for this tournament. At that point, you might as well play a local keeper which I don't think they have either. And I don't think AB wants to keep wickets.

Overseas batsmen > Pakistani batsmen. This is a fact. LQ need to put up a strong showing this season and there’s no point starting lightly.

I have posted before the start of this PSL that Hafeez will do this. He has remained in Pakistan team despite mediocre record due to this mentality of his. Agha Salman or Harris Sohail can do far better than Devicich.

ABD is a blessing in disguise for LQ. They should declare ABD as captain for the rest of the tournament.

Field settings, backing the young bowling talent after he dropped the catch AB has done really well.

If Hafeez would've been on the field Karachi would've won the match.

Wrong on both counts i'm afraid.

Haris is fully fit as confirmed by Saj and LQ. See LQ's training photos.

They have two domestic keepers, one of whom is a quality prospect (Umair Masood).

I'm assuming the decision is being made by the captain and Aaqib Javed. Maybe AB is listening to the injured captain but why would Aaqib Javed give in to someone who is out of the tournament?

Maybe Fawad Rana makes the decisions and that's why the franchise sucks. You do realize that the accusations are baseless against Hafeez.

The players we are discussing are Haris Sohail, Saad Ali and Agha Salman. It's not like he is keeping Babar Azam on the bench.

In any case, Haris if fit should be playing ahead of Agha Salman.
