I am probably stating the obvious, but it goes without saying that India is much more "Liberal" society compared to Pakistan. Since the early 90s, Indian society has become a lot more liberal where freedom of expression, fueled by Capital money has churned out immensely productive personnel and a highly competitive environment.
When we talk about the issues with Pakistani cricket, we eventually talk about the "System" that somehow prevents our success - be it either in "polishing" talent or producing a complete "product" (to borrow Hafeez's words)..
This "system" is nothing more than our "Society" and the flavor in which it manifests in day-to-day life.
Is Poverty a reason? Is it corruption? Indians are also corrupt at many levels but that doesn't seem to affect their prowess in any way.
When you read the stories of many of these new cricketers, be it Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, or Shardul Thakur or Natarajan.. all of them came from poor backgrounds.. and I am talking not even middle class backgrounds.. yet, Indian "society" allowed them to flourish. Siraj's father is/was an auto-rickshaw driver and his mother is a house maid...and yet here is competing against Australia and creating success for himself and his team.
So what is Pakistan's real problem? We are the same breed of people and yet we seemed to slipped behind immensely in the last 20 years.
What has the Indian society done to give it's youngsters so much of confidence and mental strength?
What is this "system" exactly that we think is the problem? How can it be changed?
