One of the biggest problems i see in Pakistan cricket is both the team & the audience don’t invest in the right players nor do they stay invested in them for a long time. For eg.
1. After the West Indies game, everybody wanted Haaris Sohail dropped & Aasif Ali to be bought in. Now after the 3rd game, everybody wants Haaris back & Asif Ali dropped!!!
2. Till recently everybody wanted Mohd Aamir to be dropped, now suddenly he is the second coming of the Christ (but only till he fails in a subsequent game in which case people will start wondering why Junaid Khan is not in the team)
3. Everybody here in PP & elsewhere were excited when Shaheen Shah Afridi was fastracked after PSL, he was supposed to be the next Wasim Akram or Shoaib Akhter. Now why has everybody given up on him after only a few games?
In contrast, if we take indian team as an example - they persisted with Dhawan, Pandya, KL Rahul inspite of a string of failures & now the team is reaping rewards for their persistence. Similarly other teams too identify talent, stick with them & avoid constant chopping & churning so as not to affect morale of the players.
Why are the Pakistan team management , the ex-cricketing media experts & also the PPers too fickle to remain invested in players? Why is it that when Pakistan looses a game, knives are drawn & somebody on the bench (or sometimes somebody altogether out of the team) is always thought to be more capable of winning the game than the playing 11? Is the team’s impatience & constant upheaval the major reason why the team doesn’t perform well?
