by region i mean a district, city, county etc.

Not a whole country cuz that would be broad generalization

New delhi Vasant Vihar.

It was the posh area of New Delhi and it was big joke.

****** houses that have been made like flats and not even huge. Worst time of my life.

4 lakhs pakistani rent for a locality like satelite town

Slums in India.
As volunteers for SPIC MACAY, we would visit slums to teach the destitute children there for free.
The conditions there God you felt like throwing up at times .

None, the place I probably hated the most was Ambala and Vellore as a kid but with age I don't mind them both.
I do dislike crowded malls of India on the weekends.

You must have really really high standards if that's the worst place you have ever been to.

Nope. The fact that if that is new delhis most posh area then thats just sad.

A town house in toronto brampton is much better then the houses in vasant vihar.

Paying indian 2 lakh for such houses was ridiculous. Plus the locality wasnt even that special

Yeah comparing a third world cesspool like Delhi to Toronto, a world class city excelling at pretty much all development indicators is a sensible thing to do after all.

Bro you should check out the posh areas of islamabad or even rawalpindi

Bro the topic is 'worst areas you visited' and not 'worst posh areas you have been to'.
I'm sure there are plenty of poor areas in Delhi. Old Delhi being one despite the hoopla about famous Mughlai dishes and paranthas.

Nopes, Chanakayapuri is the most posh area of Delhi.
And Vasant Vihar is huge, only some part of it can be called posh, same with NFC.

The city where I was born and brought up and where I will spend the rest of my life.

Chennai local train.
I know its not a place, but still.
Visited Chennai during summers and decided to use public transport for local site seeing, man that was my worst decision ever. Missed Delhi metro :(

But but but, PTI made Peshawar clean.

Well it does look clean if your source of information is the social media team of PTI. In reality it was, is and will be a big pile of dump (save for a few areas like cantt).

If you go from Peshawar to Islamabad and Lahore, it feels as if you have left Afghanistan for Pakistan.

Is it worse than some of the undeveloped villages in southern Punjab? I went to a couple of far flung villages there, and it was like the dark ages, but not really dirty, just very rural.

For me it is Kohat. Everything about it was depressing and scary even. There were no redeeming features

Haven’t been to undeveloped Punjabi villages. Anyway, it is not fair to compare remote villages with a provincial capital.

Islamabad yes but Lahore is no different from Peshawar.

I haven't been to Pakistan for a long time, but even major cities in Punjab like Faisalabad were a dump compared to Lahore and Islamabad. That might have changed now of course, but my impression of Pakistan has always been that there were two or three major cities in Pakistan which were developed to some sort of standard, the rest were still very rudimentary.

Islamabad yes but Lahore is no different from Peshawar.

Lahore is a huge city, so of course you will have areas that are really poor, but overall, there is absolutely no comparison between Lahore and Peshawar in any way.

Even as a whole it's not much different. Considering the corrupt party spends so much on Paris.

Are you for real ? Besides Colombo no other city from the subcontinent comes close to the current Lahore , Only Islamabad for cleanliness . Some of the newer housing societies in Lahore are first world good.

Almost any city in Punjab. The whole state feels like a dusty, overcrowded highway and people seemed to be lacking basic courtesy.

The pind part however was pleasant, and the hospitality we receive is second to none.

Including Chandigarh?

You have no clue what you are talking about. No clue whatsoever.

Yes because you are the only genius one. Majority of Lahore isn't much different from Peshawar. I know it's hard for you to accept because imran vomes in the way.

Housing wise it much better then Peshawar while cleanliness it's not much different from majority of other cities.

It's much more cleaner then it was 5 years ago.

i dont understand. I had family memebrs aswell who say that peshawar is much cleaner. But 2 years ago when i went their, the canal was disgusting. It had soo much garbage in it. ANd the shops especially the tandoor was just disgusting aswell.

Fort McMurray, Alberta. I wouldn't even send my worst enemy there, maybe some Nooras deserve to go live there for the rest of their lives.

My paternal ancestors and elders came from a place called Loralai in Balochistan - having visited there is a very difficult experience seeing the conditions in which people are surviving. It is almost heartbreaking.

Incorrect.

Also Islamabad is miles ahead in terms of cleanliness than Lahore. We all saw how the utopian Paris of the "Lahore Lahore aye" types came crashing down with a little bit of downpour just a couple of months ago.

When Delhi didn't even have proper buses, Chennai had local trains, those are that old and helped create the awesome middle class of Chennai during tough years.

Which states are you from that you disliked Punjabs cities?

Some absurd replies here, clearly many Desi posters haven't experienced Hell.

Middlesborough. What a dump. Their residents are affectionately known as smog monsters by Brits who live in cleaner and more attractive cities around the north east.

I visited karachi and it was hell on earth, there are nicer parts but the city in general was hellish. The dust, dirt, trash and heat just makes it worse. I'm sure they can do better.

I think you mean Indian Punjab cause I doubt you've been to the bigger Punjab (Pakistani Punjab).

All Indian cities I have been to. No exception. Over polluted, choking air, over populated.

Among non Indian countries and cities, I have to rank Dubai and Vegas. Not because they are over polluted or over populated. But because of the natural weather there. Went there during summer to both places and it was burning hot.

I wonder how Arabs lived before the modern western tech arrived. Brutal weather. You cannot even step outside without getting fried.

Birmingham is like a scene out of Mad Max, makes downtown Mogadishu look like Knightsbridge.

The only thing they're top of the table of are crash for cash claims.

One of the Caribbean island, disparity from rich to poor was extreme. Its like within minutes from beauty to hell.

The shopping area is pretty good though, the Bull Ring and all the streets around it are not a bad day out.

To be honest I've been to both and Peshawar does look much cleaner than other Pakistani cities barring Islamabad

And I went during ANP times actually so no PTI bias here

One of the island but almost every Carribean Island has similar issue. Usually visitors are limited to resorts or shopping area, which are design for visitor to spend money.

Whenever I visit to different country I make sure I visit where locals live and every city has bad, worse and good.

Thank you for finally seeing Dubai for what it is. I don't know why, but western people are almost unphazed by the terrible weather in the Gulf countries. You'd see white people walking and jogging in 40-44 degree heat in Qatar, same in Dubai.

They are okay to visit but absolutely horrid to live in. You'll have no time outdoors and it will begin to weigh on you.

Westerners usually go to those countries for a tan, they will spend a lot of their time in pools or in the sea which would be quite cold in temperatures of mid-20's.

I lived in a compound (it's like a neighborhood) with quite a few European and American families and they'd be jogging and walking as if birds are chirping with a nice breeze in the backdrop. It was hot, humid and boiling.

Pools I can understand, but these folks are just trekking along while everybody is cursing the weather.

ANP did good work as far as cleanliness is concerned, but Peshawar right now is at its worst because of the BRT project. It is the worst time to visit the city.

No wonder melanoma is so common among white people.

North Karachi - never seen so much dirt and litter in my life!

Makes the rest of Karachi seem like a paradise :danish

I went to Karachi for the first time a few days & have to say was very dissapointed but perphaps because i live in Islamabad when in Pakistan or didnt see the right areas. However the PAF museum was excellecent.

There are a few areas which arent up to standard mainly because of litter but a bit dramatic to compare it to africa. I can assure most of Birmingham is far better than Sheffield.

At least we get the bins collected on time which is more than what can be said for certain cities :P

London... parts of it at least. Really thought wow how do people think this is a good city.

The city where I was born and brought up and where I will spend the rest of my life.

Man I really wonder if you truly live in the right parts of Peshawer. I have visited Peshawer for a month to two months almost every year of my life. It is an amazing city. Beautiful and charming both.

As for cleanliness I left from Pindi to spend some time in Peshawer in 2016 and it was so much cleaner. The police was also much improved.

Peshawer has a lot of character to it

Another mention is Karachi after Bakra Eid. Seriously which civilized society spreads animal blood and gut all over its neighborhood area and then lets it sit there for months? There is nothing more jahalat than this.

Pindi is dirty as well, I was comparing Peshawar to Lahore and Islamabad. Peshawar was relatively clean till 2016, but it has been a big mess since the BRT project started.

I live in one of the cleanest areas of the city but of course there is more to Peshawar than just that. Yes the city has its charm, but if you go to some of the less privileged parts of the city these days, you would know what I am talking about.

Yes there are dirty places in Lahore as well, but the posh areas of Lahore are far better than the posh areas of Peshawar (Mall road, Shami road, Defence Colony, University Town, some sectors of Hayatabad etc.).

Islamabad of course is far better, doesn't need any explanation.
