Firstly you clearly don't understand the fact he's been retained and can't just 'quit'. Secondly, it's not a loser mentality. The point is he's the be all and end all of this team. In fact it's the total opposite of loser mentality he's literally the only person who can win them any games hence his gameplan is he has to go deep and retain his wicket.
