Biden says his message to Iran is 'don't'

U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday said he expected Iran to attack Israel "sooner, rather than later," and warned Tehran not to proceed.

Asked by reporters about his message to Iran, Biden said simply, "Don't," and he underscored Washington's commitment to defend Israel.
"We are devoted to the defense of Israel. We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed," he said.

Biden said he would not divulge secure information, but said his expectation was that an attack could come "sooner, rather than later."

Earlier, White House spokesperson John Kirby said the reportedly imminent attack by Iran on Israel was a real and viable threat, but gave no details about any possible timing.

Kirby said the United States was looking at its own force posture in the region in light or Tehran's threat and was watching the situation very closely.

Multiple media outlets reporting Iran will be attacking Israel imminently. I do wonder what this is going to look like if it happens. Will Israel respond with a tactical nuke, does Pakistan get roped in, or is this the downfall of Israel and its allies as they get roped into another catastrophic war which will bankrupt the west once and for all? Scary times.

France, India, Russia, UK issue travel warnings over Israel-Iran tensions

Countries including France, India, Russia, Poland and the United Kingdom have warned their citizens against travelling to Israel, the occupied Palestinian territories and, in some cases, the wider region amid threats of an Iranian attack in response to a strike this month on its consulate in Damascus.

Iran has threatened reprisals against Israel over the strike in the Syrian capital on April 1, which killed seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members, including two generals, leading to fears of an escalation of violence in the Middle East.

The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on Friday advised its citizens against travelling to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories.

In a statement on the social media platform X, the ministry added that relatives of Iran-based diplomats will return to France and French civil servants are now banned from conducting any missions in the countries and territories in question.

The UK told its citizens to avoid all but essential travel to Israel and Palestine over the “possibility of an attack on Israeli territory from Iran”.

In an update, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office warned against “all travel” to northern Israel, the Gaza Strip, areas near Gaza and the occupied West Bank – excluding occupied East Jerusalem and Route 1 between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Russia strongly recommended its citizens “refrain from travelling to the region”, emphasising security risks in Israel, Lebanon and Palestine.

“The situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone as well as in the area of the ‘Blue Line’ between Lebanon and Israel remains unstable,” its Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Poland’s Foreign Ministry also advised against travel to Israel, Palestine and Lebanon.

“It cannot be ruled out that there will be a sudden escalation of military operations, which would cause significant difficulties in leaving these three countries,” it said in a statement. “Any escalation may lead to significant restrictions in air traffic and the inability to cross land border crossings.”

India’s statement covered Iran and Israel, calling on Indians not to go to the two countries until further notice in view of the “prevailing situation in the region”.

The Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi said Indian citizens who are in the two countries should observe “utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum”.

Separately, German flagship airline Lufthansa extended its suspension of flights to and from Tehran until Thursday and will not use Iranian airspace during that time.

At some point Iran is going to have to stop hiding behind it's proxies otherwise their sabre rattling will have no effect anymore.

At some point Iran is going to have to stop hiding behind it's proxies otherwise their sabre rattling will have no effect anymore.
With the burden of sanctions, Iran can't go on the attack themselves... they will use their proxies. As you can see Hezbollah attacked Israel with rockets right after Eid. This shows Iran using them to take their revenge.

Iran is stuck between devil and the sea. It doesn't want to have to face a retaliation as Israel will use it as an excuse to pin point accurately strike locations across Iran like it always wanted to, especially ones related to Iranian nuclear locations, oil facilities etc..

On the other hand it needs to save face among it's own population, proxies etc. If Iran doesn't react they'll be called out for bark and no bite. I think the best solution available is to fire missiles at barren Israel locations and ensure no casualties.

Proxy war is the least they could do and that js the only possible solution according to them. Direct attack won't do good here.

nothing will happen

Iran full well knows what usa did in Iraq with shock and awe

The firepower usa can unleash is unmatched .

Iranian forces take over Israel-linked Portuguese ship MCS ARIES

ranian forces took over the Portuguese ship "MCS ARIES" in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to Israeli media. The ship is currently sailing through the Persian Gulf, according to ship tracking site, Marine Traffic.

Israeli media outlets added that the MSC Aries is apparently associated with Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer's Zodiac Maritime Shipping Company.

There were 20 Filipinos on board the ship.

Al Hadath posted on X, "The ship that was seized by Iranian forces was “commercial” and carrying containers and was heading to India.

Numerous media outlets cited a video reportedly seen exclusively by the Associated Press showing a helicopter raiding a ship near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. A Middle East defense official reportedly told the wire service that Iran is behind the attack.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday that a vessel was seized by "regional authorities" 50 nautical miles (92 km) northeast of the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah.

UKMTO did not say which authorities it was referring to, however the two reports share the same location, and there are no other incidents in the area.

This event comes amid threats of an Iranian attack against Israel, as Israel has been on a high state of alert since late Thursday night. World leaders have been working to avert direct confrontation between the two rival countries.

So these carrying containers and was heading to India. In the future, India may have to choose between Iran and Israel.

Joe Biden expects Iran to attack Israel 'sooner than later'

US President Joe Biden says he expects Iran to attack Israel "sooner than later", as fears grow of Iranian retaliation over an air strike that killed top commanders early this month.

Israel has not admitted attacking an Iranian consulate in Syria but is widely believed to have been behind it.

US officials have told CBS News, the BBC's US partner, that a major attack on Israel could happen imminently.

Israel says it is ready to defend itself. Mr Biden told Iran : "Don't."

"We are devoted to the defence of Israel. We will support Israel," Mr Biden said. "We will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed."

Iran backs Hamas, the Palestinian group fighting Israel in Gaza, as well as various proxy groups throughout the region, including some - such as Hezbollah in Lebanon - that frequently carry out strikes against the Israelis.

On Friday, Hezbollah said it had launched "dozens" of rockets from Lebanon towards Israel. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman said around 40 missiles and two explosive drones had been launched. No casualties were reported and there were no indications of involvement from other actors.

A US official told CBS the barrage was separate from any expected Iranian attack on Israel.

BBC Security Correspondent Frank Gardner says Iran is deliberately keeping the Middle East and Washington guessing.

Ever since the lethal 1 April strike on the consulate building in Damascus, from which Israel believes Iran was directing its covert arms supplies to Iranian proxies in Lebanon and Syria, Iran's security establishment has been debating its response.

This is all about calibration. Hit too hard and Israel will respond with devastating force. Go too lightly and Iran will risk being seen as weak and ineffective. From a tactical perspective, it makes no sense for Iran to respond right now, when the region is on full alert and when the US has been telling the world what to expect.

Pragmatists in Tehran and Qom will be urging restraint, while hawks, including the ageing Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, will be demanding a firm response.

But Iran does not want a full-scale war, nor do its neighbours on the Arab side of the Gulf. Governments there have already asked Iran for restraint. The question now, our correspondent says, is whether it is the hawks or the doves who prevail.

The mounting tensions have led countries including the US, UK, India and Australia to warn against travel to Israel. Germany called on its citizens to leave Iran.

The US state department also barred diplomatic staff and their families in Israel from travelling outside the cities of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beersheba.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met members of his war cabinet amid the warnings.

Some Israelis said they were not worried about a potential Iranian attack.

"We know that we are surrounded by enemies, in the south, in the north, the east and the west," Daniel Kosman told AFP news agency at a market in Jerusalem. "We are not afraid, I can promise you. Look around: people are going out."

The Israeli government has not issued any new advice to its people on top of existing guidance to stock up on water, food for three days and essential medicine.

Israeli radio, however, reported local authorities had been told to prepare for the possibility of an attack, including by assessing the readiness of public shelters.

Last week, the Israeli military cancelled home leave for combat troops, bolstered air defences and called up reservists.

Thirteen people were killed in the 1 April missile strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

They included senior Iranian military leaders, among them Brig Gen Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of Iran's elite Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.

Israel has not commented but is widely considered to have carried out the attack.

Officials in several countries have been trying to dissuade Iran from launching an attack, fearing it could spark a wider regional war.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has spoken to the foreign ministers of China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in an attempt to convince them to use their influence with Iran.

After meeting the commander of US Central Command on Friday, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said the bond between the two countries had been strengthened by the threat, adding "we will know how to respond".

The war in Gaza was sparked when Hamas attacked Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip, killing about 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and taking more than 250 hostage. Israel says that of 130 hostages still in Gaza, at least 34 are dead.

More than 33,600 Gazans, the majority of them civilians, have been killed during Israel's campaign in Gaza, the Hamas-run health ministry says.

The conflict has also seen Israel trade almost daily fire across its northern border with Hezbollah, while Iran-backed groups in Iraq and Yemen have attempted to hit Israeli territory as well as US bases in Iraq and Syria.

Yemen's Houthi movement has also attacked shipping in the Red Sea, sinking at least one ship and prompting the US and UK to conduct air strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen.

It means something about to happen soon.

Iran will bear consequences for any escalation, Israeli military says

Iran will bear consequences if it escalates violence in the region, an Israeli military spokesperson said on Saturday.

“Iran will bear the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation any further,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement.

“Israel is on high alert. We have increased our readiness to protect Israel from further Iranian aggression. We are also prepared to respond.”

The statement was sent after the statement was made in reference to the seizure of a vessel between the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

Russian foreign minister calls Israeli strike on Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus 'political killing'

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Saturday called the April 1 Israeli strike on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus that left at least 13 people dead, including a high-ranking general, a “political killing,” Anadolu Agency reports.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Lavrov condemned the Israeli attack in a phone talk with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

“Any attacks on diplomatic and consular facilities, the inviolability of which is guaranteed by the relevant Vienna Conventions, are categorically unacceptable, as well as political killings,” he said.

Seven Iranian military advisers are said to have been killed in the attack, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), whom Tel Aviv accused of taking part in planning the Oct. 7 Hamas incursion.

The top diplomats exchanged of views on the state of affairs in the Middle East, and agreed to maintain the “high level of coordination” on regional and global issues.

“The sides stressed the interest of both sides in consistently increasing political and diplomatic, as well as trade and economic cooperation, including in the transport and logistics sector, including transit transportation,” the ministry said.

A bit of drama but surely it will increase internal pressure on Netanyahu.

Israel is the least safe it's ever been.
Iran needed a bogeyman and the Zionists also need a bogey man. BB was in trouble and attacked the Iranians, the Iranians "attacked" to show the Mullahs value something more than money but in reality its all just bull

Iranian 'attack' won't do much damage but sends a sign to neighbouring arab countries to not overstep the mark with them.

I believe Iran needs appreciation here. Although not enough but atleast they are helping Palestinians, Hamas, Lebanon in a way other aren't.

So they are more intent on fighting each other than a country that hates all Muslims. Sounds about right
Iranians are fighting a coalition consisting of the US Israel and Gulf States. That was the whole point of the normalisation.

Iran is a paper tiger but has built up support from the masses in the Arab countries by these actions.

It's almost as if it was designed to have no effect on the ground but to give Israel a massive boost to it's waning popularity in the west.
Really? Don't you think it's having the opposite effect?

I mean Americans must be wondering why the hell Biden is promising iron clad security agreements to Israelis while they are on their murderous missions targeting embassies.

They aren't. Iran Mullahs need enemies to stay in power. Those enemies need Iran to be the bogeyman. The drama is all good but its the innocent people that get killed

International pressure should be on the Israelis to immediately deescalate as they have pushed the whole world into a war.

The reality is that Saudi and Iran have caused untold damage to Muslim countries and the end result is that they and all the Muslim countries are weaker than they have ever been. Maybe this Allah's punishment for us Muslims for having little imaan and even less justice in our lands where everyone gets treated like this.

If they can actually do some damage to the israeli war machine then they should shut up and get on with it. If they can only toss a few pea shooter drones which will be shot down with ease, then they would be better leaving Hamas to fire their little rockets across the border and that would at least avoid exposing their impotence. Maybe Iran actually has the ability to cause a lot more damage in reality but they don't dare to do that for fear of igniting a much larger conflict with NATO. Again, if that's the case just keep quiet and let Hamas keep tossing their little rockets.

Iran through its United Nations mission in New York issued a statement that appeared to offer Israel a way to prevent further escalation if they consider their conflict "concluded."

"Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus," the mission’s statement, posted on social media platform X, read.

"The matter can be deemed concluded," the mission argued. "However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY

iran seems to be having a lot of Reciprocity exchanges with its neighbours, and then swiftly concluding in the hope of no further escalation. seems like the regime is losing face domestically, but this is a dangerous game to play, theres a lot of regional players who need an excuse to neutralise the Iranian regime, but dont want to engage in open conflict.

And what about genocide of people of Gaza by Israel?
This whole thing is orchestrated by Iran since Oct 7th.
If we dig deep into what is what in history, it should be discussed in a different thread.

The current escalation may look like Israel vs Palestine. But everyone knows that Palestinians are only a decoy and an excuse. The main villain is Iran pulling the strings from behind. They overestimate their power and it’s showdown time. Iran will get owned badly which is likely to happen if it’s an all out war. This will bring permanent peace to the region.

I am sure all Arab countries will be silently cheering Israel.

From what I hear it seems houthis from the south are also firing missiles at Israel breaching Saudi airspace.
