"It's not enough to just hit 2-3 boundaries in an over and then be dismissed" : Haider Ali

So disappointed to see some of the comments here. Give the kid.a break

He needs to get rid of this leg side hoicks. He is not even near as talented as Ahmed Shehzad or Umar Akmal so he should stop imitating them and learn from their failures
You have got a very poor understanding of batting if you think Shehzad had more talent than him.

Haider just have a good hand eye coordination when it comes to whacking it on leg side, that's it Ahmed Shehzad clearly had more shots in his armoury and his timing was immaculate as well , However his strike rotation and gap finding skills were non existent.

Have you seen some of Haider’s sixes over cover and extra cover? He’s clearly got more to him than Shehzad. He’s had a couple of really good knocks so far this tournament, let’s not go back to harping on the kid.

Shehzad could only time the ball when it was in his strong zones. He has very slow reactions to the ball, a complete opposite to Haider who is a natural ball player with great instincts.

I have maintained plenty of times, that he is not out of the oven yet. He needs to bat and bat long to understand the right method to score runs.

Once again just can't progress past what the title of this thread says, 14 runs from 8. You can see how well he can time and hit the ball, but he just can't carry it through for a lengthy enough innings at the moment.

He's still very young of course, and this is only the first match of a 4-match series.

Needs to fix this problem quick. He's a a talented kid. Anyone can see that with his clean hits and solidity at the crease

Yep, clear talent there. No temperament or concentration.

He needs to learn quick Missed a straight full toss today which shouldve been despatched

Has all the ability but needs to calm down n focus

Seems to want to slog every now n then which he needs to cut out quickly if he wants a career

Until a more promising number 5 batman is available, Haider should continue to be given chances.

Should be batting in the top 3 really. Doesn't have the brain nor temperament yet for a lower order spot.

It's a shame the top 4 for Pak feels congested otherwise i'd send him to open.

A technical deficiency he needs to fix is not watching the ball closely on to his bat till the last moment. I've noticed it since the beginning of his career. He gets into good position but does not complete his shot well at times

One area that he needs to work on is that he premeditates some of his shots.

That's when he gets done by some ordinary balls that he should be hitting to the boundary.

But it all comes down to a lack of experience. He'll come good.

The deficiencies he has are easily fixable with more experience. Not even had a full year of international cricket yet, all the lad needs is time.

#5 slot is perfect with four senior guys ahead of him to take the pressure off.

Babar should school him that T20 can also be played with proper cricketing shots and balls to be played on merit.

I see him going nowhere and especially under one of the worst player development people being in charge of the team.

I have never seen an Asian batsman get out off the leg stump line that much. Usually they are excellent off their legs.

How is it possible he keeps getting out on those 'easy' balls?

Haven't watched him playing live but read here that he is good. Yesterday looked at score, he was playing on 14-15, started hotstar to see him and next ball he was gone.

Hope he does well in next games.

He goes way too hard at everything from the get go. Needs to learn the art of building the innings and shifting through gears. Has a long way to go, but he's got the skills for it

He is a victim of tape ball cricket. No doubt he has speedy hands and has all the time to hit the ball. But he should make a difference between tape ball cricket and international cricket. You do not need to hit every ball. It is okay to play a dot ball. And, you need to practice the skills of playing dot balls. Not just hitting and hitting. A good batting coach should identify flaws and fix them. Cricket is also a mindset game as well not just hitting balls.

Said this a few times and possibly on this thread too - right now the only real difference between U Akmal and Haider A is that HA has better PR in terms of knowing what to say.

In terms of what to do when batting, he may as well be an U Akmal.

ppl over reacting, he got out to a badly executed shot, theres no reason he shouldnt have tried to slog a full toss on his legs.

despite all the negativity he played a useful knock in the context of the game, came in at 110 and left at 130 two overs later. his knock didnt hurt the pak chase

he needs to persist, theres no reason to try and play "sensibly" at 5 in a t20i lineup, if hes gonna err, rather he erred on the side of aggression than defense.

He has a lot of ability, needs to be persisted with and get some good coaching. Should spend time with Babar Azam on tour to learn the art of playing a T20 innings, and then work with Mohammad Yousaf when not on tour.

Seems like a decent player from what I have observed and perhaps needs to be persisted with. Needs to learn not every ball can be hit for 6 runs. Nevertheless, the potential is evident.

Posters are asking him to do this and do that. The guy has played 8 first games. The way he is going to improve his batting is by playing more first class cricket. PCB need to ensure he plays 20/30 FC games batting at 4. This will improve his whole game. If he keeps on playing T20s it will affect his development. I would keep him around the LO teams and allow him to play PSL, but outside of that he needs to be playing first class cricket regularly batting at 4.

Haider, Hasan and Faheem won us the game with their quickfire cameos. Rizwan anchoring the innings was important but without those cameos Pakistan would not have won.

In total they made: 53 runs @ 13.82 runs per over

I know people here love to criticize each and every single thing but thing is Haider came out with intent, was timing the ball beautifully and didn't waste any balls.

Missing out on a full-toss was a pretty big blunder on his part but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that those 14 runs were incredibly vital.

Umar Akmal was decent in T20s for the most part. Perhaps our best T20 batsman in 2010-15 period.

Once again Haider hits 2 boundaries in an over and get out. Doesn't augur well for his future.

Needs to spend time in first class cricket. He clearly has all the tools and just needs experiance.

A player like Haider Ali needs to be backed and given more time than others. If Haider Ali is backed the same way Babar Azam was then he’ll probably end up being our best all format player.

Agreed but won't stop the kiddies from jumping on his back expecting a finished article already.

Needs to go through the learning process like Babar did.

If Haider doesn't start showing results he should be dropped. Pure and simple. Can't be a passenger in the team no matter how many innings he needs to get settled in or 'backed'

Pakistani batsmen are usually the worst but he has some good qualities that are required to play modern cricket. He has some characteristics that you will usually not associate with Pakistani batsman.

But he is raw as an egg and needs some proper coaching and guidance. Not sure if he can get that in Pakistan and it’s culture of mediocrity.

He has the same raw ability as Tom Banton, although the latter is struggling at the moment, you can be sure that England will make a player out of him and he will be their future star LOI opener after Bairstow/Roy.

Haider Ali can easily go the Umar Akmal/Nazir way, but he has the potential to average 35-40 at a SR of 100+.

Should be kept away from international cricket for now. Absolutely no gameplan or method to his batting.

Hes got all the shots but needs to work on his shot selection big 2 games upcoming up for him now
