Happy to see a MP from UK representing UK's true soul - its tolerance for multiculturalism. I dont know about his political history or achievements. Looking forward to hear from UK posters about him.

Why do liberal leaders feel they have to appease different religions, IIRC Sadiq Khan visited Hindu/Sikh temples in India too.

Nothing politicians do is without a reason. Our own Modi ji pauses his speech during azaan..and a few days ago was visiting mosques and buddhist temple in singapore. Even if it is cosmetic PR, these are welcome signs.

JC isn’t a liberal, he’s a socialist.

Two letters: PR.

In Corbyn’s case it probably isn’t. I’ll never vote for him because I don’t agree with his economic policies however what you see is what you get with Corbyn - he’s a genuine guy unlike most other politicians today.

One can be both, they are not antonyms.

Yeah, they are. The liberal exalts the citizen. The socialist exalts the state. To quote Churchill: socialism attacks wealth; liberalism attacks monopoly.

All I wanna say about Churchill the monster is
“You show me a capitalist, and I'll show you a bloodsucker”
― Malcolm X

Churchill who was in charge when British were ruling over India should be the last person to comment on liberalism.

It's not appeasement to know your constituents better. It's a condition for democracy.

Easier to discredit the source than to consider the words. Notice how I don’t discredit Malcolm X? Come on, consider the words.

Fair enough, If I take out Churchill it makes sense w.r.t industries not w.r.t health/education unless you are saying NHS isn't great?

There was no NHS when Churchill gave that definition.

The modern liberal chooses the private sector or nationalisation depending on whether or not it empowers most people and is cost-effective. These days the preferred option in mutualisation, where a given sector becomes the direct property of the uses, not indirectly via the state.
