Is this Moeen Ali or The Wolf of Wall Street? :leo

No one hates anyone because they are religious, ludicrous suggestion. But why is Moeen Ali supporting the IPL which is a discriminatory league in itself?

If there's accusations of racism and prejudice surrounding Moeen Ali, then don't you think its a tad hypocritical to be playing such a league. Of course, when you dangle a fat pay check in front of your face, these things are quickly forgotten.

If your referring to the lack of pakistan players in the ipl then rather than discriminatory I'd say it's a political issue. Why would Moeen decline a chance to participate in the ipl? He currently only holds a white ball contract with the Ecb and any player would maximise their chances to make a decent living if given the opportunity.

Would you turn down the chance to earn 700k for a few week's work?

Would you turn down the chance to earn 700k for a few week's work?

That's my point, we focus a lot on racism, discrimination, prejudice but in the end of all of this does not matter when you can run and get a fat pay check for a weeks despite being a hate league.

Bunch of hypocrites, all of them.

Is that the going rate for ignoring discrimination in ModiTown?

Let's see if he yet comes to his senses and 'chooses to' depart midway.

So I'm assuming you wouldn't turn it down either? Does that make you a hypocrite?

How is he ignoring discrimination in ModiTown? He's getting paid to play cricket, that's what he'll do. The discrimination is not of his doing, neither is he condoning it as far as I'm aware. But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't begrudge him for getting paid an absolute fortune for a few weeks cricket.

In fact ask Pakistani players if they would play in the IPL, they would jump at the chance.

As I said, they're free to go but why are overseas players talking about taking the knee, speaking out about discrimination and whatnot when they're supporting a hate league that openly sanctions discrimination on the basis of nationality?

Yes, they should be welcomed with open arms. Sport's about building bridges not burning.

How much did you sell your soul for? If anyone should be protesting against the discrimination in "ModiTown", it's Indians like you. It's your country.

Moeen Ali is an Muslim Englishman. He has nothing to do with the politics of India and Pakistan. As far as I'm aware there are Muslims everywhere in the IPL, including some owners and administrators. Not sure why you're whining about Moeen securing the easiest money he'll ever get when your posts against him are disrespectful at best and hateful at worst.

The IPL doesn't have any control over this, this is the doing of the Indian government.

Normally, he shouldn't have to apologize, but here it was a nice thing to do to not create a poor impression about a player.
I understand that but Moeen is grown enough to understand the consequences of his decision to leave early (whatever the reason).

My understanding is that it was a pre-agreed decision by both parties. If Ali suddenly decided in the middle of the series that he wants to leave then it's would be a different situation.

That’s precisely why I’m saying Root doesn’t have to apologize. He can simply state the scenario and it’s fine.

Apologizing is an unnecessary step.

You need to go back and read what happened, you clearly have no knowledge of the facts. Joe Root is "grown enough" to know when he needs to apologize for mistakenly throwing a team-mate under the bus.

The thread is about Root apologising for his mistake. IPL or Indian government has nothing to do it. The fact that this is even in conversation shows obsession to drag a random entity into ur discussions. The fact that india and ipl has so many Christians, muslims shows they are not discriminating . Cringe worthy thoughts.

Is IPL a hate league? I was under the impression that they would like to have Pakistani players but they are barred from doing so by the Indian govt. Pretty sure that if the govt lifted the ban you would see a few Pakistani players getting bought.

I stand by my statement.

If Moeen made this decision, then why should Root apologize for stating it?

I have umbrage with the fact that some of these overseas stars take the knee, nod their approval for movements such as BLM, tell us that they are against all forms of discrimination; but then partake in an event that goes against these principles.

So its not about any one individual, its about the collective. Indian govt. may have given the order but IPL and with overseas players taking part, have accepted discrimination as far as I'm concerned, selling out for the big easy monies.

I appreciate others won't see it that way, they will think its acceptable and so on. I just look at the bigger picture and think to myself, no that's not right. Perhaps I'm expecting too much from a fascist country like India but I was always prepared to be shown otherwise.

Stop making a fool out of yourself and learn to comprehend better. This rotation policy is the English management's decision. It was pre-arranged but Root's statements made it seem like Moeen had abandoned the team mid-tour. This is why Root and their head coach thought it necessary to clarify the situation and apologize to Ali.

I know about the rotation policy and the fact it was pre-arranged.

Let’s agree to disagree.
