Give Buttler the gloves Id say

Ducket hs done nothing over 4 tests

Jonny is a better batsman than anyone barring Cook and Root.

I'd say he's not far behind Root at all.

I don't know if he should keep or not but he should be regarded as a proper batsman playing at the top/middle.

I would bat Jonny at #4 and give Buttler the gloves in the next game. Part of me says that would be a bad idea though. England's lower order has been excellent and tweeking with it is risky. Plus, Buttler can do some damage if he gets set batting at #4.

England maybe need to take the same call with him that Sri Lanka did with Sangakarra all those years ago. 3 or so years ago with Bell, KP, Trott etc this wasnt possible but now this is needed

Especially now when its apparent that their batting talent for Test cricket isnt very deep

Only in England will you burden one of your best batsmen with the wicketkeeping gloves.

Duckett is a quality player and will come good. Tbf to him a 19 year old playing 4 teats in Asia, 3 on spinning tracks, it cant be an easy debut.

Jonny's made it pretty clear that he really doesn't want to give up the gloves and wants to carry on in the team as a keeper batsman.

I agree. He averages 48 in 1st-class cricket so he's good enough. England should go:
4. Bairstow
5. Ali
6. Stokes
7. Buttler
in the next game.

Said that before the series.

He should play as a batsman and bring in Buttler to WK.

England middle order is too weak.

He's not a specialist keeper anyway.

Have you got a link to quote of him saying he doesn't want to give up keeping?

Bairstows kept regularly for his entire career, Ducketts the part time keeper.

Bairstows statement was made in interviews on sky after the days play during the summer against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Will try and dig up a quote later if you want it.

Don't really see the "burden", call fielding a burden then lol. He can play at 4 and still keep.

Butler is a dodgy keeper. Also, when was the last time Butler played red ball cricket and how is he suddenly a great player of spin?
