I believe this is because Pakistan didn’t replace their PM once he was ousted in 2022. This year long state of limbo has caused all of these chops, changes and instability.

It’s a shame because the timing of it was during a World Cup year as well.

Personally, I feel that the current caretaker government did its best to let the flow of the team that was being built in 2019 to continue going until the 2023 World Cup.

Pakistan cricket team’s failures under Babar Azam in that World Cup were his and only his own doing. Nobody interfered in his preferred selection and players.
 
Pakistan cricket is currently at its all time low. Nobody is sure about his position whether he will remain in his job or not and this uncertainity is also having an impact on our players which is demoralizing them and its reflecting in their performances.

Everything has gone to downhill in Pakistan since IK was ousted.
 
With things going the way it is, the quality of Pak cricket will deteriorate like its hockey. Players should just look out for themselves and focus on franchise.

Yep. Rest of the cricket world laughs at how comically poor PCB is run.

There was that brief time period with Mani & Wasim where some level of professionalism was put in place along with a domestic structure that had some resemblance of sense and its been completely shredded. It's not even the insane rotation of coaches/selectors/chairman/domestic structure but its the shameful stuff like leaking private messages with your captain, masala news etc. that makes Pakistan cricket even more unstable than anyone can imagine.
 
This musical chair in Pakistan cricket has been happening for a very long time and no one seems to have an idea, when it is going to end.
 
Too many changes in the administration as well as in the Team that have brought us to this point. Performance has declined too much. Players are getting injured and missing important tournaments. This is getting worse day by day.
 
Chairmen, selectors, coaches and captains come and go but Pakistan’s zero talent and mediocrity remains constant.
 
Shah Khawar today in his presser said:

"I don't think changes in the board in the last year have affected the team. It might be a minor reason, but there are other factors, and once the new board of governors is formed, and the new chairman takes charge, they will look into this,"

And people ask why is our team so inconsistent? Why do players play so selfish?

It's why players are all about self-preservation because PCB is like the Wild West. Anything goes. Under a mess like this, it's still crazy Pakistan still get really talented players without a proper system or coaching.

Well said. That instability is one of the biggest reasons for our downfall. When your coach resigns within 5-6 months where the team has not played a single ODI series then the issue is with the board, not the players or the coach.
 

PCB announces departures of Sohaib Sheikh and Tania Mallick​


The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced today that PSL Director Sohaib Sheikh and Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket, have stepped down from their roles to pursue new career opportunities.

Sohaib had rejoined the PCB 13 months ago after previously serving the organisation from 2016 to 2019, while Tania began her tenure at the Gaddafi Stadium in October 2021.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer:

“Sohaib Sheikh and Tania Mallick were key members of the PCB management team, making meaningful contributions to our progress as an organisation. Sohaib was part of the core team that launched the HBL PSL in 2016, successfully delivering four seasons, and he returned to produce another high-quality event earlier this year.

“Tania worked with dedication to uplift women’s cricket in Pakistan, making strides at the grassroots level to expand the pool of players. Alongside PCB’s ongoing support, her efforts were recognised internationally by the ICC, where she served as one of the two Full Member representatives on the ICC Women’s Committee.

“The PCB appreciates their hard work, dedication and contributions, and we wish both Sohaib and Tania every success in their future endeavors.”

Frequent chopping and changing is not good. Need to have a long-term captain and a long-term coach (lengthy reign).

Legendary Pakistani cricketer Zaheer Abbas is poised to assume a key position within PCB.

Abbas will be nominated to the PCB's Board of Governors (BoG).

Finally they have cracked the code for winning matches at home.

Saud looks like a good bat against spin, Ghulam is hungry coz of delayed opportunity, Babar is definitely gonna come good, Rizwan is their best ever keeper bat.

Fast bowling is still a big problem though , especially in test format.
 
BoG approves appointment of Sumair Ahmad as PCB COO

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sumair Ahmad Syed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) following approval by the Board of Governors in its 75th meeting, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi at the National Cricket Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Sumair Ahmad, a seasoned civil servant with an extensive administrative experience, most recently served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. He assumes the Chief Operating Officer’s role from Salman Naseer, who has been appointed as Advisor to the PCB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) department. Salman began his tenure as the Chief Operating Officer and had previously indicated he would not seek a contract renewal in a similar role upon the completion of his five-year term in February 2025.

Welcoming Sumair Ahmad and expressing gratitude for Salman Naseer’s years of service, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said:

“Sumair is an outstanding professional with proven administrative skills and deep industry knowledge. We are delighted to welcome him to the PCB family and are confident that under his leadership, we will continue to strengthen and improve our administrative structures, moving closer to our goal of becoming a model, high-performing organisation.

“Salman has been an exemplary leader at the Pakistan Cricket Board, making invaluable contributions during his tenure as the Chief Operating Officer. His experience and insights have made him an asset to the PCB. Given our plans to establish PSL as an independent entity and to expand the league with two additional teams in 2026, we have appointed him as PSL’s Chief Executive Officer. He will also serve as Advisor to the PCB Chairman, ensuring his expertise continues to guide our strategic goals.”

On his appointment, Sumair Ahmad said:

“As a lifelong follower and supporter of Pakistan cricket, it is a profound honour for me to join this dynamic organisation as its Chief Operating Officer during these exciting and pivotal times. I am deeply grateful to the PCB Chairman and the Board of Governors for their trust and support. With the collaboration of my colleagues, I am eager to play a meaningful role here at PCB.

“This organisation holds tremendous potential and cricket serves as a unifying force for the people of Pakistan.

“During my tenure as Chief Operating Officer, I am committed to helping the Chairman bring his vision for Pakistan cricket to life. This vision centers on achieving success with our national teams, enhancing infrastructure, expanding opportunities for aspiring cricketers and ensuring good governance. I am excited to contribute to this journey and work towards making a lasting impact on the game that we all cherish.”

Salman Naseer expressed gratitude and support for Sumair Ahmad:

“It has been an honour and a privilege to lead the PCB’s management team as Chief Operating Officer. This journey has been deeply rewarding, as we collectively made significant progress and overcame various challenges.

I don't think the fast-bowlers are that bad. But they are not that good either. I am more interested to see how they do in South Africa where the wickets will be more favorable to them than they have been anywhere else they have played in the past year.

Their biggest problem is that they lack discipline. Even when the pitch has enough, they either take time to find the right lengths or are just all over the place. I don't know if its inexperience or whatever else. But they can't blame the pitches not having enough in South Africa.
