Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for neglecting senior fast bowlers and picking a newbie in Mohammad Hasnain for the upcoming World Cup 2019.

“You invested three years on Usman Shinwari, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir but at the time of the main event [World Cup 2019], you picked up a new guy [Mohammad Hasnain]. How would these players feel as they performed for years but when the main event comes and it is the time to show off their skills in front of the world, they are not selected,” said Akmal, while talking to local media.

The wicketkeeper batsman also voiced his support for fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who failed to make into the 15-members World Cup squad for Pakistan. “Amir is a kind of bowler that can topple any side on a given day, as he did in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2017. So one should not be dropped from the side for not performing on one or two matches,” said Akmal.

Earlier, Akmal criticized the cricket management for ignoring him for the upcoming World Cup.

“The selectors, coach and the captain should look at these youngsters [performing in domestic circuit]… never mind this is part of life, and I am optimistic to make a comeback again,” Akmal said.

lol... trying to sneak in wahab with amir and shinwari.

Dude seriously needs to get a life

Who cares what an incompetent TTF like you has to say ? God knows how many catches you shelled.

Pakistani cricket is a fair representation of Pakistani politics. People will ally with whoever in order get back in to power.

Why is he optimistic for a comeback?
Does he not know that the PCB has also been investing in Mohammad Rizwan.

Amazing so much love for Shinwari etc , like the old boys association

Glad Shinwari and Wahab are nowhere near the squad. Amir has a stronger claim just because you can rely on him to keep things tight and be a good backup bowler.

Also, an Akmal's opinion holds no credibility.

Wahab and Usman are proven TTFs so I am glad Inzi did not select them.

Amir has lost his form but I still hope he can make the team instead of Junaid Khan who is another TTF.

Inzi is doing the right thing investing in a younger bowler like Husnain.

Can u explain why Shinwari is a TTF in ODIs?

And why Amir is only out of form having taken a grand total of 5 wickets in almost last 2 years with a bowling avg of 100?

I swear you guys throw around the term TTF without even watching or knowing that Shinwari has been one of our best bowlers from the past year

I wanted to give my 2 cents but then I evaluated:

I am trying to rebut a Kamran Akmal argument. That can't be classified as good use of my time.

Off to watch paint dry. A more intelligent activity in this context.

Not a fan of the current team management but just because you carry someone for 3 years doesnt mean you have to take them to the WC by ignoring every other factor.

There are examples from other teams as well e.g Shami over Umesh Yadav (When he was part of the most of ODI squads on the last 2 years, Shankar or Rahul over Raydu, Behrendoff or Jhye Richardson over Hazlewood etc.

You have to consider the form, conditions and balance of the team. Yes Shinwari was a tough call but then why didnt Rumman come back to the team after he was fit. Thing is Shaheen Shah came in and he showed more potential over all and now Hasnain has come in who is rated highly the captain, coach and some ex legendary fast bowlers.

I dont mind team management picking someone knew if they think that guy is an upgrade and just like any other decision it can turn out to be good or bad. Shaheen though has proved himself and is now the 2nd best pacer in the team and if Hasnain can also create the same impact then I dont see any problem.

Hasnain over Shinwari is awful, but there was no place for Riaz and he has rightly been not selected.

Usman Khan should have been picked over Hasnain but Usman Khan has a tendency to leak plenty of runs but can be also a big wicket taker.

But who knows, maybe they see something special in Hasnain and decided to roll the dice on a potential great wild card. I don't necessarily agree with it but I'm willing to give him a chance and as of right now. Pakistan have their two top bowlers (Afridi/Hasan) and now they're rolling the dice to find the 3rd x-factor type.

Bad luck for Usman and I think if his health had been more consistent, I think he would have been picked.

He's a failure who wants to encourage the seniority culture, which would be the only hope he would have to get picked. Not surprising. His international career is over and it's the same for Wahab. Younger, more talented players have replaced them. Amir needs to up his game or he will be gone soon too.

Hasnain offers something different. The quarter of Wahab, Amir, Junaid and Shinwari are hardly dissimilar from eachother and no single name stands out anymore. A wildcard capable of 150ks who no other teams have seen seems like the better option to me and i'm glad they went for it.

Look at the talent and potential to improve , not stats. That's the way we got Wasim and Waqar and also Amir of old. Who knows Husnain might be the next big thing for Pak cricket.

You handpick Pakistani fast bowling talent and see them fly and touch the skies.

This is how Pakistan produced ATG’s for the world.

Wonder why Kamran is not happy with Hasnain’s selection.

*hint hint* Umar Akmal isn’t selected.

He is right about Shinwari, but completely wrong about Amir. Its not 1 or 2 matches that he has not performed, its 2 years of being a complete failure. And the less said the better about Wahab.

I don't know why this useless guy is even relevant anymore. He should have been binned forever after the Sydney debacle.

People need to give respect where due.

Some very rude comments to a loyal servant to Pakistan.

If we, nobodies, can give our opinions and then get replies and care for our thoughts, I think he has also got right to voice his thoughts on these issues, no matter how many catches he dropped.
