Few jobbers, but overall decent squad. MUCH better than last edition.

On spin tracks Sanga, Mahela and Malik will be crucial on batting friendly tracks Gayle and Pollard will go crazy.

Should win this edition.

Some confusion about Abdul Ameer - some people saying Abdul Hameed instead so not sure about that.

I really hope Imad or Babar captains the team and not one of the foreign players. It's a really good squad.

On paper should win. Best batting lineup I've seen out of all squads.

Good to see the band back together in Sanga and Mahela, two excellent players of spin. Then you have young Babar Azam.

Gayle and Shahzaib could be an exceptional opening pair.

Very strong team. Hopefully Shahzaib is playing instead of Manzoor. If Usama Mir is fit he could be a key player for Karachi on these low and slow wickets in the UAE.

Lol what a poor team.

Mark my words, will again get humiliated and that's what they deserve. Too many accumulators and their captain Malik is also a dud.

Gayle is hit or miss. Feeling bad for Slog already. :danish

Gayle
Shahzaib
Sanga
Malik
Babar
Bopara
Pollard
Immad
Bangash/Usama (If Sanga keeps)
Sohail Khan
Amir

Should have picked a decent keeper. Bangash is too ordinary and a waste of space

Yeah.

And Sanga, Malik, Babar, Bopara, Imad.

What are they playing? Tests? Or ODIs of 90s? Their choice and they'll regret again. Malik is brainless.

What? :danish I'm ISLU fan man .. You got the wrong guy. :najam

Lahore is decent this time.
Really ??I thought you were a Lahori,,, mainly Islu guys are way too sophisticated,

All in all ,all teams are better this time apart from Quetta, they've gone from bad to worse,
If regional players matter they're a true Karachi team :)))

Fire squad.

Shahzaib, Gayle, Pollard to slog.

Malik, Sanga, Babar as accumulators who can also hit.

Bopara, Imad can also hit.

Then you got the experienced Jayawardene who might start from the bench, showing how good the batting is.

Amir, Sohail, Imad, Usama, McLaren, plus Malik and Bopara as options - that's a solid bowling attack.

This season is ours for sure. :kk

I like this team a lot better than last season's. Batting has improved a little, but there's no smashers besides Gayle, too many accumulators (Malik, Azam). Still lacking a decent wicket-keeper. Does Sanga still keep? I'd rather have him focus on his batting. Also a little weak on bowling outside of Mohammad Amir.

My ideal XI:

1. Chris Gayle
2. Shahzaib Hasan
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Shoaib Malik
5. Keirron Pollard
6. Babar Azam
7. Ravi Bopara
8. Imad Wasim
9. Saifullah Bangash
10. Sohail Khan/ Usama Mir
11. Mohammad Amir

Overall, a better squad than PSL16 but not enough to compete

Am I missing something, weren't they finalist last time around and had the best record in the group stages? How is that even close to bad?

Decent team but who is the captain? I can't expect Malik to still be the captain after he chicken out last time around.

1 Shahzaib Hassan
2 Chris Gayle
3 Babar Azam
4 Kumar Sangakkara
5 Shoaib Malik
6 Mahela Jayawardene
7 Ravi Bopara
8 Imad Wasim
9 Usama Mir
10 Sohail Khan
11 Rahat Ali

Karachi Kings will be the first team in cricket history to play without Captain... :inti

You love for Rahat is commendable or is it still a work in progress ?

Rahat is about to enter his best years. His action has improved(thanks to Mickey) like all the other bowlers(barring Amir) in the test squad. They are finally starting to understand how important your lead arm is for accuracy and generating easy pace. His spell at Edgbaston was the best he's ever bowled and I believe he will only build on that from here. Not that others bowled poorly but Rahat took the pitch out of the equation by landing the seam with supreme accuracy and command. He gets on top of the ball better than Amir partially due to his height but he has a slightly higher action as well.

That aside, I'm only messing here. He's not an LOI bowler. But Mickey knows how gifted Rahat is and if he can develop his bowling acumen, he'd have uncovered a gem. That's why he's retained him in the test squad and called him in ODIs. Unlike the fickle fans here, he understands cricket therefore able to identify players with genuine ability. He knows he's gonna need 6'0+ hit the deck seamers in Australia.

Another bowler who hits the deck great seam presentation is Ali Imran Pasha and if Mickey miraculously spots him, he will be traveling to Australia/NZ. It's a tragedy we wasted a bowler like him because of nepotism. Just frustrating that he's been rotting in domestic for the past 10 years while all the trash is recycled.

Anyway, went off topic.

Gayle
Babar
Sanga
Malik*
Bopara
Pollard
Imad
Bangash+
Kashif/Sohail
Md. Amir
Abdul Ameer

I think, it's just a bit imbalanced side as both Shahzaib or Kasif is missing out for Abdul Ameer (Or Abrar - they have to play one emerging player), while Babar has to open (alternative is Shahzaib to replace Babar, but Arthur won't do that).

There are 2 telling weakness in this team - Bangash has to play as WK, while the other teams have much better WK-Batsmen - if Kashif is played, Bangash should bat at 9 or even 10, which is a wastage spot in T20. Second one is that, there is no genuine spinner in the side - Imad & Kashif are similar type darters, while Malik & Gayle are not reliable. If the UAE wickets are as pathetic as the WI series, may be KK attack will work, but of 170 per condition, it's not a good attack.

If I were KK's strategist, I would have never batted first with this team - they won't defend much with that attack.

4 openers already with Gayle, Shahzaib, Babar, Mahela... and they are all good.. Khurram Manzoor a waste of space...

Khurram Manzoor well done.

Lobbying and Connections have worked brilliantly. Job well done off the field.

Their team is stronger than last year, no question about it. They could be serious contenders this year.

Karachi kings announced Kumar Sangakara as a Captain for their Side for PSL 2017 edition

Would've preferred foreign bowlers than getting Jayawardene and Pollard. I still think we're massively weak in the bowling department. KHI will not be able to defend sub 150 scores. Sanga to captain is a good move though.

Lol what?? Blind hate at its best. If you think Pollard, Gayle, Sanga and Shahzeb are accumulators then you need to rewire your brain or something. The only proper accumulators are Babar and Malik. Bopara and Imad can switch between accumulating and hitting. Khurram is hit or miss(more likely). And FYI their captain is Sanga.

I don't think that the spin bowling is that weak. Imad will be effective in T20Is on most surfaces due to his "you miss I hit" strategy and excellent control.

Don't forget that KK also have Usama Mir who is a proper legspinner who gets decent bounce due to his height and he might be a handful if the pitch turns. Malik and Gayle might also help around with 1-2 decent overs at most.

But Bangash is an undeniable weakness. I doubt that Sanga would take keeping duties.

Karachi have a better team then Lahore this edition. But again Gayle will struggle against spin on these wickets

I missed that Sanga can keep. That covers the biggest issue, if they play Mir in Banghas's spot.

Who is Aamad Alam the all rounder ?
He is 18 years old U-19 Karachi Whites all founder. Top scorer of U-19 3 day games wid around 550 in 5 or 6 matches. As per his stats available of PCB's website, Ammad seems gud midlle order potential wid health striker rate.

Do you think that Sanga will take the additional responsibility of keeping alongwith captaining, batting and mentoring as well?? I think that's too much even for Sanga. But you never know.

In T20, keeping doesn't need more skills than a 1st baseman in Baseball. 85 minutes, 120 balls, of which may be 20 will come to WK. Also, a missed chance doesn't cost much, therefore, I think for better balance, Sanga should keep - that makes it a very good unit. They had 2 similar type of all-rounders, decided to keep Imad (probably because Sakib might not be available for whole tournament, blocking a foreigner's quota is not wise), that can be compensated by the WK-batsman.

The bold part was one trick Umar missed, which one day will cost him big time.

Hmm....I must say, that is actually very convincing. Hope Sanga keeps for the sake of the team.

So ideal XI could be
Gayle
Shahzaib
Sanga
Malik
Bopara
Pollard/Babar(If in XI, Babar should play at 3)
Imad
Usama Mir
Amir
Sohail
Abrar/Abdul Ameer

This XI guarantees atleast 12 overs of decent bowling plus explosive batting at the top and bottom with solidity in the middle.

No Sohail - Bopara & Pollard can bowl medium pace + both their emerging players are medium pacers. In T20, Sohail might go for plenty in UAE, because of his business length. Few years back, he had a very good yorker at pace, but at 35-38, I don't think he is required. Also, I am sure Arthur doesn't think of playing 5 pacers, for which they exchanged Tanvir, who is a far better T20 bowler. Sohail will play as Amir's replacement, to give him rest, not along with him.

Take out Sohail & drop everyone one slot down, to play Babar at 3 - it's a very good T20 unit for UAE.

Sanga's keeping in CPL this year was absolutely breathtaking.

T20 isn't played like that. You have ONLY ONE proper T20 bat. That is Shahzaib.

Gayle is hit and miss, will probably fail again against spin. Pollard isn't doing anything since a long time now.

Even if you do include Gayle, that's only 2 batsmen. The rest are all nudgers and accumulators. :P Good luck! But you guys don't really have a chance.

Oh we'll see...............but don't hide when you are proven wrong :)

How have two Under 19 players who sneaked through ?

Abrar is gotta be really special talent or something is Fishy.

Abrar is a right arm leg spinner according to Karachi kings website. I hope he's good

32 wickets in inter district under 19 with 4 fivefers and 1 tenfer at an Ave of 13.75.

If he has no relation with any administrator or player than his Selection is fine.

Sangakarra has been dropped from the playing XI by the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing BBL, and the KK geniuses have made him captain.

Gayle is way past his prime.

Sure he is. But that doesn't mean he isn't the best in the business. Still not too bad in leagues and his ton vs England isn't even a year ago so I expect youngsters to learn lots from him.

Karachi to win all games and dominate PSL.

:kk

Will be fighting it out for the wooden spoon again this year.

LQ is the strongest one this time, followed by zalmi

Dude, Qalandar's bowling is non existent. Same as last year. Batting heavy lineup. To win it, guys like Tanvir and Bhatti would have to bowl out of their skins, which doesn't inspire much confidence.

what do we have, amir imad and sohail...no one really to rely upon. our batting is also messy, can't take the hell out of bopara every time

Just like Last Time Around In Lahoriyon ki Phainty Deni Hay Is Bar Bhi :yk

Mian :malik to lead his new home all the way :kk
