Karachi Kings defeat Islamabad United by five wickets in 14th match of PSL 5

Spin bowling is just not about skills but about using brain as well and Umer has got high bowling intelligence
 
Umer has made the difference here already. While anybody who creates some impact in PSL gets a chance, Umer after being tremendous last year didnt get his opportunity in T20 internationals anyways I hope he does well again this season
 
If KK doesn’t win today, most likely Pakistan’s top two city franchises will miss the cut off.

To add to that, these two teams have the best two PAK players - batsman Babar, pacer Shaheen. That’s T20 cricket.

And, these two franchise have probably 7 starters for PAK in next T20 WC - Babar, Shaheen, MoHa, Amir, Imad, Rizwan & Ifti. May be we can add Fakhar &/or Sharjeel as well - something is not right here.

If it was upto me he would have played in Aus series before WC 19 where all sort of experiments were being carried out and Yasir was the lead spinner. He has got the skills, the brain, there is no reason he shouldnt be atleast in T20 squads of Pak.

Karachi and Lahore are the biggest markets of cricket in Pakistan. People in Lahore already getting fed up of PSL due to Qalandars.

Yes definitely everyone knew yasir isn't good enough for white ball cricket
 
Amir has been ordinary in last couple of months. Only did well in BPL but other than that not good enough from an experienced bowler like him
 
Even Sohail Tanvir has been doing better than Amir, outbowled him in national T20 cup and has been doing much better in PSL 5 as well
 
Shadab at 7 and Umer Khan at 8

We need to have attacking bowling options

I spend very little to analyse T20, hence you’ll often notice me putting comments for T20 way off the bulls eye - like yesterday, I actually didn’t know that IPL goes for player reset in every 2-3 years😝

Now, coming to the two issues of best player & PAK squad, from general cricket logic (which is definitely applicable for other formats) I can say that first one is for mis-management - too many chefs spoiling the biriyani in the big two city franchises. Cricket is an unique team game where despite 11 men starting lineup, for individuals can dominate. Just yesterday I wrote that 1980s Kiwi attack is better than current one; though I do agree that all 4 pacers playing against India should make that Kiwi squad. Because of that one man army - fought almost alone against a Division, and still won often!!! KK & LQ are wasting their talent pool from chaos. On paper KK should win 8-9 out of 10 games with that roster.

Second one is for Misbah - I missed Haris Rauf also in that list - that makes 10, in probable PAK WC squad!!!! Still, both franchises are struggling. No matter what is happening in back drop, officially these are PAK’s preferred players and they are not delivering on field; or making useless numbers to keep them alive - like Mo Hafeez’s 98*

Either, Misbah is picking wrong players for wrong role (error in role profiling for individuals), or may be most of these players don’t deserve to be selected!!!! May be, Misbah should rethink about what’s the purpose of everyone in that list for a WC in Australia bar Babar, Shaheen & probably Amir, Rauf.

Can definitely be done as in T20s you shouldnt be needing a lot of batting depth if you can sort out a good top order. Imad should still be in the squad and rotated accordingly. If one of our pacers can improve bit of batting than Umer Khan can become a permanent fixture on LOIs

In my opinion Jordan is one of the best T20 pacers around who can bow yorkers at will
 
Since he has improved his batting he has not played international innings I guess we need to see I guess there is improvement but need to validate

5 fifties against NZ and England. Never knew the likes of broad, Anderson, Boult egg. He's not a hitter but can bat at test level.

He is just too old for PAK wickets. His skills are still good, but he doesn’t have the shoulders any more to be effective on these placid tracks, for the length he is effective. Guy is another unfortunate quarbani of Inzi-Misbah cursed era, otherwise he is at similar age of the other Asif and I am sure 12-13 years back, guy wasn’t like this.

Scoring 50 in Tests is not a big thing. Did you forget Yasir Shah has a Test 100 that too in Australia against Starc, Hazlewood etc?

He has 3 50s in ODIs and 3 in tests at 21 years of age and most of them are in Eng and Nz. He always had the skills, its just that our fans don’t understand the process of player development. Yes sometimes investment is done in wrong players but I dont think its the case with Shadab as he was rated since his younger days. Still a lot to improve but he does have the skills to develop on
 
IU should have sent Asif over Shadab. He’s played okay, but not given enough momentum with Ronchi already playing anchor

Shadab wasnt known much for his power game since his younger days. He was more of a top 6 kind of a batsman. Looks like he has developed that part of his batting, he did have some hitting skills though as he once won Pak a T20 match with a six when needed

Just like Imad Wasim.

But showing he's better than Imad.

Both not good enough options. Can't hit at will.

Yes it's any easy thing to get a test 100 lol. Mind you 2 fifties against NZ in odis.

He will not be good enough to bat in Top 6 in any format unless he plays regularly in first class

He played international cricket for Aus and has A pretty good record in Aus domestic cricket as well so he was never a bad player but mis treated by Aus and underutilized by NZ
 
ISLU will set a below par total.

Any day Asif can hit better than Shadab.

He doesn’t need to hit at all, in fact he doesn’t need to even bat - if he can finish with 3/19 bowling between over no 7-13, in alternate game; I’ll take Afridi’s trademark score : 0(1), from him every day. That little batting laps he can cover in fielding, but these couple of fancy innings is not going to make up the damage he can do with ball.

T20 is a bowlers’ - 20 quality overs, only 2 inform batsmen is enough.

I guess he realizes that and that is why he is developing his power game which is evident to bat at no 7 or 8
 
Why the hate for Shadab so far he has got the results every time he batted in top order. Excuses like drops happen to everyone especially on T20s..
Shadab has I.peived his batting a lot and was always a good bowler as he proved in world cup.

Imad can hit huge sixes. I went to Pakistan matches in WC and he was one of the few players who could sent the ball into crowd.
