This tournament is exposing the imbecility in PCB selection policies. How silly was it to announce the squads so early?

After watching Lahore posting 165 I didn't bother to see the rest of the match as I assumed it would be walk in the park for Lions but now I regret I didn't watch the match :) Cricket is indeed a funny game

I think you misunderstood, commentator tried to highlight that Nazir should have been given more opportunities like North and look what North did today, he scored a century.
 
It's a shame we don't have any speed-gun here. Really wanted to see the pace of Junaid Khan.

Not impressed by Anwar Ali today. He seems to have gone backwards since the last time I saw him play. Wonder why so many Pakistan players who impress at youth level don't seem to make the step up to senior level?!

You could see he really didn't want to embarrase Kaneria any more, hence just going for a single. what a sportsmanship shown :)
 
The second match between Lahore and Abbottabad was easily the best of the day. And that too because Abbottabad decided to give the Lions a real fight.
 
What an innings by Imran Nazir. Sensible cricket all the way. He has learnt his lesson. Im so happy. Imran Nazir haters eat humble pie. He faced 2 quality bowlers today on a lively pitch so please dont come out and say the bowlers were rubbish
 
how many have sialkot won in a row now since 2005???they seem unbeatable.
 
How the hell can fawad and hafeez keep getting selected ahead of this T20 master. He delivered a treat today. Risk free cricket. Get him in ASAP

Nazir may be having a feeling that one day danish might be appointed as captain,so its better not to hit him hard.

Shame that the selectors announced the ODI/T20 squad before this tournament.

I am sure some elements in the PCB (for instance Mohammad Ilyas) pushed the selectors as they were afraid some players might play better than those picked already.
 
Today showed how much natural talent the guy has. If he starts to use his brains like he did today than the world is his oyster
 
Great knock by Nazir. Just proves why he is such a vital player in a limited overs squad. Only in Pakistan will such a talent get mistreated the way he is. Just look at some of his shots, he middles and times them with minimal fuss. To top it off, his placement was also exquisite today.

He's not old either. Travesty he has been ignored over the years. Bloody Shahzaib get in ahead of him.
 
Nazir showed solid defence today. Im so pleased for him. It was a thrill a minute.

Imran Nazir is only 28 and superb in the field. Hes one of the best fielders around. Im shocked to see why the selectors keep ignoring him. They prefer turtles like fawad and hafeez instead for T20's. Absolute joke

I'd like to see his solid defence against an international attack in even slightly challenging conditions

Everyone gets so excited after every Nazir ICL/Pakistan t20 effort but in reality these bowling attacks are nothing compared with what you get in international cricket, and so are the conditions

FOr the 43345th time, Imran Nazir is not the answer

Yea but which player in world cricket really does well in challenging conditions nowadays? Trott is probably the only one I can think of.

Get him in. He's better than Shahzaib.
 
Good performance from Nazir today but hopefully it's not another false dawn. Just when you think he's developed a brain and learnt to choose the right deliveries to go after, he comes into the Pakistan team and develops increasingly stupid ways to get out!
A consistent Nazir would be a great asset for the Pakistan team, I hope he realizes this too...

So u prefer failures such as Hafeez in T20's who have never performed. ANwar Ali khan is a class bowler and so is Danish kaneria. This was a lively pitch so I dont know what u are on about. R u sure u are not Amir Sohail?
 
Nazir should have always been an automatic choice for T20's

like Asif is always an automatic choice for tests.

Hafeez is not that bad.he is a good offy and brilliant fielder.He can hit big sixes as well.But fawad is absolutely garbage.should be thrown out for once and all.Nazir deserves a persistent run in t20 and odis.
 
Seems like there are still Imran Nazir haters here who still think he should not be in the T20 squad. Simply mind boggling

I do prefer Hafeez over Imran Nazir

Atleast hes a better fielder and bowler
Both will fail miserably with the bat

How in the world was this pitch lively?
It was a pancake

And did you think Kaneria bowled like a class bowler?
And you're labeling Anwar Ali as class without him having played an international match to date. Hes a decent prospect at best, not class.

Imran Nazir has failed in international cricket against international attacks again and again and again and hes been pounding domestic attacks every year again and again and again.
Nothing has changed. Stop getting excited
 
Lets see what Amir Sohail has got say. I bet he comes out with some rubbish. He needs to keep his trap shut

Imran Nazir is a better fielder than Hafeez. What are u on a bout. hes a cheetah in the field. Hafeez failed 7 in a row in T20. Hes never performed in T20. Imran Nazir had a great T20 world cup in 2007 and is a must for T20. Shocked to see u still prefer Hafeez after his 7 failures on the trot in T20.

I said, even slightly challenging conditions. I did not mean a minefield or something

There are plenty who do well.

Australia's entire batting line up have done it quite often (barring North)
England and South Africa and India all have batting line ups

Star players in this category around the world includes

Kallis, Amla, De Villiers, Strauss, Trott, Prior, SR Tendulkar, Sehwag, Laxman, Dhoni, Watson, Katich, Clarke, Gayle, Chanderpaul, Ross Taylor, Tamim Iqbal, Sangakarra, Jayawardene, Samaraweera etc
 
Imran Nazir is not a failure in International T20. hes average is around 25 which is not bad in T20. Dont forget hes a wonderful fielder and and a matchwinner

IMO hafeez is a slightly better fielder.

4, 7, 7, 10, 27,59 and 33 is no where near great

Hes mediocre against good bowlers, and will remain so

His 3 scores came against Bangladesh, India and New Zealand. 3 poor bowling attacks

Failed against Scotland, Australia, Sri Lanka and when he batted against India in Durban (moving conditions under lights)

The problem is that he looses his mind when ever he plays in an intl match and tries to slog each and every delivery with eyes closed.............where as in the beginning and now as seen in domestic cricket he plays his natural game and slogging is not his game, he is really better than that..............

Can u tell me what Hafeez has done in his T20 international career??
Nazir is a better fielder. Hafeez is average

His approach was all out attack in domestic cricket too in the past, but he claimed to have understood that his approach wasn't right and mended it.

Judging by todays innings, those claims might very well be true, so there's no reason he shouldn't be able to apply himself in International matches.

Admittedly Nazir is no Kallis, but any team that has visited England over the last 5 years and ball has swung (even a little bit) no player has really survived.

As for slightly challenging, it's not as if anyone else in the Pak team is any better, barring YK and MoYo and occasionally Kamran Akmal.

(Also, please take Samaraweera out of that list)
