Just for Sharjeel. The remaining verdictwill come later down the line.
Just for Sharjeel. The remaining verdictwill come later down the line.
Verdict will be this: "Verdict is expected in the next couple of days"
Where did you hear the news? With PCB they most likely drag few more months at least
What time can we expect to hear?
I am surprised they stated the 26th for Sharjeel, when in fact the first day of work [Monday] would've been ideal.
seems to have been done without any thought!
Unbelievable and downright unprofessional.
It'd be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Anti-corruption Tribunal probing the spot-fixing charges on several Pakistani cricketers did not consider the applications submitted by two players, Khalid Latif and Shahzaib Hasan, who had requested to defer their suspension for the time being on their playing cricket.
PCB’s lawyer Taffazul Rizvi told media on Tuesday that the tribunal while not considering the applications, forwarded to its office without any action.
Taffazul said the tribunal could consider the applications if the petitioners would ask for it again. But in that case, the lawyer said he would also have the right to raise objections against hearing those petitions.
Taffazul avoided replying when he was asked if those petitions were not the tactics used by Khalid to delay the hearing process.
He said the verdict on Sharjeel, another accused cricketer of the case, would be announced by Aug 26.
The fourth accused player is long-discarded Pakistan opening batsman Nasir Jamshed who is also facing the allegation of spot-fixing reported in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year.

Don't know if anyone should take a lawyer's words that too of an opposing party seriously. It was not a press release by tribunal or the interview of any member of tribunal. Can't understand your (or anyone's) reaction when the time limit is one month to announce the verdict.
Reports indicate that verdict on Sharjeel Khan to be announced on 30th August

Shows how unprofessional and unsure is the board handling this casePakistan opening pair Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif set to face long bans for spot-fixing
KARACHI: Pakistan's opening pair of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif are set to face long bans and heavy fines from the three-member anti-corruption tribunal, formed by the country's Cricket Board (PCB) to probe into the spot-fixing scandal in the Pakistan Super League.
The tribunal, headed by a former judge of the Lahore High Court, is expected to announce its verdict on Sharjeel on Wednesday and then turn its attention to the Khalid case.
The two could face a ban of 2-5 years and a two million rupees fine.
"The two cricketers are expected to get similar bans when the tribunal gives its verdict early next month," a PCB official told PTI.
The PCB has finished its final arguments and filed all evidence against Sharjeel and Khalid, who were sent back from Dubai in February on the second day of the PSL after the anti-corruption unit of the PCB found them involved in suspicious activities including meeting with bookmakers.
Sharjeel and his lawyer Shaigan Ejaz have accepted the authority of the tribunal and appeared in all hearings, and also made it clear they had full faith in the tribunal.
On the other hand, Khalid and his lawyer Badar Alam kept on challenging the constitutional validity of the tribunal and its appointed members.
In one particular hearing when Khalid's lawyer raised objections to the tribunal members, one of them -- former PCB Chairman Lt General (retd) Tauqir Zia -- was reported to have exchanged harsh words with the lawyer.
Attempts by Khalid to challenge the tribunal in the Lahore High Court also failed, not once but twice.
Earlier, former Pakistan Test captain Salim Malik was given a life ban for match-fixing by the Justice Malik Qayyum inquiry commission in 2000 but a lower court later overturned the ban.
In early 2011, another Pakistan captain Salman Butt, and pacers Muhammad Aamir and Muhammad Asif were given minimum five-year bans by a ICC anti-corruption tribunal for spotfixing during the series in England in 2010.
All three completed their bans and are now playing competitive cricket with Aamir having made a comeback to the Pakistan national team.
In 2012-13, Pakistan's Test leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was imposed a life ban by an anti-corruption tribunal of the England and Wales Cricket Board for fixing in English county cricket while playing for Essex.
Other players have also been fined for not cooperating with the Justice Qayyum inquiry.

^^^That was Yesterday, now another Tomorrow??? LOL
Read the above article. Also a couple of sports journos have stated the same thing about Wednesday being the day Sharjeel verdict will be announced.
So 2 years for Sharj and 5 for KL?
Meanwhile, Dawn also learnt that the PCB had also decided to challenge the decision of the tribunal, if it announces lesser punishment to any cricketer, including Sharjeel.
“Yes the PCB has the right to appeal if it deems the punishment is less to the crime committed. Just like the players the PCB also has the right of appeal against the tribunal’s decision,” PCB’s lawyer Taffazul Rizvi told Dawn.
What is 2.5 years suspended???
What is 2.5 years suspended???
What I understand is it means actual ban is of 2.5 years that is if he doesnt do anything wrong during these 2.5 years if he will than ban will be extended to 2.5 years.
Does anyone know if the ban starts from now or from the date of his suspension back in February?
