He was very poor in WC and I didn't like his lazy attitude either so def not a fan


Also he's a bit of a tullay baaz type too. Maybe #6 in t20s. Problem is we can't afford too many hits and misses either. For every time Sharjeel and Latif come offf they will also have an off day. Just the nature of these types of players

Today was a great win Pak team showed unity under Sarfaraz captaincy, really doubt how much unity will be left with Akmal in the team again. Akmal bros. have a great record not only of blocking youngster [can one forget how Sarfaraz made debut in Tasmania 2009when Kamran was dropped, & U.Akmal declared himself injured not to play the next match as a protest for his brother was dropped] but also playing divisive politics and their infamous coup attempts against successful captains like Younis Khan.

he might have been harshly dropped, but I don't think he deserves a place on merit anymore- he's in horrendous form- he can barely score in domestic cricket, and has a supposed injury on top of it

Life of a hitter is really unpredictable till he establishes himself. Even then its not 100% safe. Sehwag himself was in and out of the team at times. Raina is out of the team now. Has been in the past too. Maxwell was dropped recently.

Add that with the complex politics and knee jerk approach surrounding Pakistan cricket, nothing is impossible.

If I were Shehzad, I would keep scoring runs and bide my time.

There will always be chances.

He doesn't seem to be scoring runs but luckily for him age is on his side.
 
I have reservations regarding Khalid Latif. He is a bit of a hack but the good thing is the approach from the captain and coach is right. Playing the most explosive batsmen at the top that's the way to go.
 
This obsession with purging the team of hacks has been holding us back for the last 15 years. You can't win limited overs cricket any more without big hitters. Just take a look at the successful teams today. India might be the exception to the rule, but they have very inventive batsmen, we don't.
 
How ironic Sharjeel was Shehzads waterboy more than a year ago and now is an absolute powerhouse of a batsman with a trademark shot.

So glad to see the back of Shehzad in PP overs and dragging the team down with his low SR.
 
Is this khalid Latif the same guy who was selected for Asia cup after few years all of a sudden and when he played badly PPers here were calling him useless and were wanting his head??

Or was that some other dude?
 
Sharjeel's offside game is improving albeit slowly... pak must take it granted that sharjeel can't get runs every match and he will have his poor form continuing...pak must give him confidence and not drop him then...bcoz he is not a hack...mukhtar shehzad are hacks... so is rafatullah and iftikhar.... and others...but sharjeel plays prior cricketing shots.... I have a feeling he will succeed against Australia.. ..the bounce there will help him.... and well Khalid has surprised me with his timing and power....so a good begining for sarfraz as t20 captain
 
Is Latif really that good? I only saw him in the Australia match in the World T20 and he killed the momentum of the chase with too much tuk-tuk. So I don't know if that was an anomaly or his usual style of play.
 
Clearly Khalid latif lacks stroke making shots , he cannot even connect hits once in a while that to a miss hit i still remember his world T20 innings.

How many shots Shoaib Malik have? I would've let it go as an unbiased opinion, cos it sounds pretty fishy that a poster that posts in avor of neanderthal mediocre Shoaib Malik is questioning a better performer who takes the other batsman and finish matches in 14th over even though starting slowly.

Khalid Latif is fantastic addition and his inclusion is showing a different Pak batting side. Don't really care about biased posters trying to push against good performing players.

Khalid latif is limited player plus he is opening for you, need to maximise first six overs. He always tangles himself somehow i have seen him in domestic too and remember that world cup innings ? Does kill the momentum .. last two t20's were easy jobs.

Talking about malik may be this would be his last series, if he doesn't perform then bye bye tata ..

Give them this series and see how things go. I guess after these two performances Khalid Latif deserves a longer run
 
At the end of the day it's only 20 overs.

Go for it, attack.

Some days these lads will get out early but so what, you have enough batsmen there to cope with 20 overs.

These guys are at their best when they attack so let them go for it.
 
It wasn't an easy pitch to bat on so he struggled earlier on but the important thing is that he did not throw it away like the WI batsmen.

Should be persisted with even though he is not as talented as the other new comers.

He may have struggled early on today but didn't give in and finished the match strong ... stick with him and Sharjeel for the next 1 year or so. Enough of these knee jerk reactions. We also need to get Shahzaib Hasan in the team. Having him in the top order will add another power bat to the line up making us that much more explosive.
 
both sharjeel and latif need to work on rotating strike. They can't hit 6's and 4's all the time
 
Lol no, they're in the team as hitters so should look to maximimze boundaries. Obviously singles doubles should be there, but not a priority.

It's only 20 overs.

Doesn't matter who is limited, as long as they give us fast explosive starts in LOIs. They're not opening Tests and nothing wrong even if they're limited.

They'll have bad days too but we need to stick with the duo. It's the way forward at least in T20s.
 
So far the two are pretty decent at hitting boundaries. Really need to rotate the strike a lot more, gives you more of a chance to build a total or chase one down.
 
Latif still needs to prove himself. Sharjeel has a longer leash.

They will struggle to pile it on against quality attacks though. But not many option better than Sharjeel at the moment.
 
Sharjeel can stay for a while yet. Not sure on Latif, needs to improve big time didn't look convincing for long periods today.

Not a long term option imo, let's see if he proves me wrong.
 
Pretty good effort by Khaled Latif, the way he encourages fellow player playing alongwith him shoulders responsibility definitely captaincy material, continues to keep the run rate at consistent level. Khalid Latif again finished the innings, improving his average [from 15 to 19.8] as well as strike rate [106.25] better than the existing crap Shoaib Malik and U. Akmal and denied them a bat make a mockery out of Pak cricket.
A Job well done.

Another good knock by Latif - looks comfortable and assured at the crease.
 
I'd like to throw the name of Shahzeb Hassan in the hat too.

On true pitches, his style of batting can be really useful.

+1. With Sharjeel Khan the 2nd opener should be one who has better batting technique than Sharjeel Khan.

As long as he can get runs at a SR of 85-90, he's good enough. We don't need both our openers to be sloggers.
 
Like i said yesterday khalid is very limited tangles himself if we are changing upside down make proper changes.

Also i don't think mickey will have much patience with sharjeel.

Bowl him fast medium deliveries at Good Length at 5th 6th stump from 8 feet height and He will not have any clue about what to do.

Imagine if we are chasing a total of 190 khalid will kill all the momentum, this guy is not the answer only can hit off spin bowlers.whatever runs he scores like this will be useless.
 
Soon people and the thread-maker will be cursing Latif.He is a very mediocre batman.He is Shehzad without the attitude.

I've watched their partnership back at least 2-3 times since that match, it was some of the cleanest hitting I've ever seen from Pakistani batsmen in years.

Very frustrating but no sympathy for what they've allegedly done.
