England openers have batted so well in this tournament that their remain batsment have not had an oppertunity to either bat, stay at the wicket .... and bat well.

Based on their batting performance, if Pakistan gets rid of Butler and Hale quickly it will expose the batsmen who have not performed to their full potential. Infact, they have performed very poorly as compared to rest of the teams.

England opener have scored 61.3% of the team's runs.
But their batting postions #3 thru #6 have scored only 34.4% of the runs coming from the bat.

England opener have averaged 51.25.
Batting postions #3 thru #6 have avergaed only 17.69.

England opener have a S/R of 145.90 in the tournament.
Batting postions #3 thru #6 have a S/R of only 104.07.

These are huge differences ....

But the way Butler and Hale batted today vs India.... the million dollar questions, how do we get them out cheaply?

England relay heavily on butler and hales if one of them fail early it will certainly test england batting lineup

My favorite part of our innings is watching the initial bowling attack, it really does help set the tone for the game. If we do strike early on, then the empire will need to strike back which they haven't shown in THIS particular tournament, but have the potential and capability of doing so. Advantage would be Pakistan me thinks if we get those early wickets.

I think the OP is new to Pakistani cricket. We are specialists in bringing out of form batsmen back into form and out of form bowlers back into form.

I don’t think lack of game practice over last few games will make much difference as England have played a lot of games coming into this, plus their players are practicing enough. This won’t be an issue

OP is a legendary poster.

Definitely need to remove both openers in the first 4 overs.

it has to come from shaheen and naseem in their first overs- 1 wicket apiece. Otherwise we are up against it

The only way Pakistan can win is by bowling first, taking frequent wickets and miraculously restricting England to 140-160.

Babar, Rizwan take the game deep and then our middle order blasts away.

If you bat first against England, then the game is gone because this England team loves to chase scores

Early blows are the way to go. This English side is merciless once set.

WOW Dude !!
This is some excellent analysis and great statistic to find the holes in their batting battery. I don't think many have got this extremely important fact check, crossed their minds.
This is what a true Think Tank, should think and work like.

This is the kind of home work we need to prepare our game plan. Knowledge is indeed POWER!

I also think Pak pacers have been doing pretty good, so there is a higher probability that we take them out early, at least one, if not both openers.

What's the bowling statistic look like on this ground during this WC?
Wicket takers in terms of, "pacers vs spinners", and within pacers vs spinners, we may need to look into "left arm bowlers vs right arm bowlers"?

Bro respect him. The guy is a GOAT. Only the real ones recognise him.

To say it won’t be a issue at all when evidence and stats show otherwise is very naive for you to say.

Here you go...

S/R is almost identical in all category.
Left Arm spinners have best E/R and average.

Afghanistan did at the Adelaide oval. England also has confusion about what target to set. Most of the time teams lose their plot not knowing what to set.

W63,

Can we plug in a filter into these stats and narrow it down to MCG?
This will give us a better insight to see who could be our key bowler on this ground and on this pitch?

Is it Ifti, Shadab or Nawaz? All three are in different categories.
And then we need to see who has higher chances of getting more wickets? Rauf/Wasim/Shah or Shaheen?

The English batsmen don't really struggle against spin. As a matter of fact, they have the highest boundary percentage in the world against spin (17%) with SA at 2nd place (13.9%). From all the English batsmen, Malan and Stokes seem to struggle against off spin which make Iftikhar's overs very important. Babar should be thinking about including Ifti at some point.

Yes it is a good sign. An early strike by Pakistan and the pressure of a final- anything can happen. England batters will come swinging but it doesn't mean they'll be connecting everything.

Six T20Is were scheduled to be played at MCG .... but three of them got rained out. Other three were;
IND-PAK, IND-ZIM and Eng-IRE.

IMO, it is too small of a sample to judje anything. But here is pace vs spin at MCG in those three matches;

Pace:

https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/e...e=200;template=results;trophy=89;type=bowling

Spin:
https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/e...e=200;template=results;trophy=89;type=bowling

E/R is identical but paces have slightly S/R & Average.
