Kamran Ghulam deserved at least a Silver category. Anyhow, Fakhar and Rassie are good picks for Lahore Qalanders.

A huge blunder by not picking a local guy who keeps wicket

Now they will have to hope Shai Hope who isn’t really a T20 player is available for the whole season

Despite being a Zalmi supporter, I won't be surprised if Qalandars win the PSL three times in a row.

They will miss Rashid Khan badly. He provided them with impactful 4 overs in the middle i.e. wickets with guaranteed economy.

Strong squad still and probably the favorites at this point.

I do think loss of Rashid will be huge and I think they'll find that their bowling attack isn't quite the same without him. Not seeing any sort of amazing spinner selected either to make up Rashid's loss so they may struggle quite a bit in the middle overs with his loss.

Possible XI
Fakhar Zaman
Sahibzada Farhan
Abdullah Safique
Rvd Dussen
Shai Hope
Sikander Raza
David Wiese
Shaheen Afridi
Haris Rauf
Zaman Khan
Faridoun Mahmood

If hope does play then I would move everyone down a position and play hope at 3

Shai Hope at 3 will slow down LQ innings plus Abdullah batted at 3 last season.

They have a really good squad. It would be better if they can add another power hitter in the middle order.

Lahore Qalandars match schedule in PSL 9.Would it be a hat-trick of PSL titles for them this season? 🤔

Rashid Khan is unlikely to play in PSL 9 due to his back injury. He is still not fully fit and he pulled out of this year's BBL earlier as well. Lahore Qalandars will find it difficult if he is not available for them in this year's PSL.

They have a very well balanced side but Rashid Khan exlusion will hurt them for sure as they dont have any good spinner in the squad.

Sikandar Raza might cover it a bit but stil he is not a specialist spinner.

PSL Nine Supplementary and Replacement Players announced

Lahore Qalandars reserved their picks for Rashid Khan, fully unavailable and Dan Lawrence, partially unavailable to the franchise.

The Qalandars are gearing up for the PSL in the training camp today.

Rashid Khan of Afghanistan expressed good wishes for Lahore Qalandars

I want to express my best wishes for my team Lahore Qalandars.

Best wishes to captain Shaheen Afridi and the entire team.

I'm sorry I couldn't be a part of PSL 9, I have yet to recover from my back injury.

Good luck to Samin Rana Aqib Javed and Captain Shaheen Afridi for the whole tournament.

We will defend our honor, have fun in PSL.

Now let's see how good Shaheen is as a captain with a okay bowling attack.

Poor fielding and Haris rauf's presence will cost them the whole tournament. They were pretty ordinary as a team and shaheen seems to be struggling without his world-class player like Rashid that he had in the last 2 seasons. Lahore is gonna end up being at 3rd or 4th this season.

Lahore Qalandars have strengthened their squad by welcoming South African left-arm spinner, George Linde, into their ranks. Linde, who has just arrived in Multan, is now eligible for selection in the upcoming clash against Multan Sultans scheduled for February 21.

New Zealand’s hard-hitting middle-order batter, Tom Bruce, is also on his way to join the squad and will be fully available on the bench from February 24 onward. With his addition, Lahore Qalandars’ roster with overseas player will be fully completed.

Lahore Qalandars are without the services of Rashid Khan (recovering from a back injury), Dan Lawrence (missed out due to national selection for England), Shai Hopes (playing in BPL and partially available), and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (did not receive NOC).

Lorcan Tucker, the Irish wicket-keeper who flew in for the opening game against Islamabad, will return after the Multan leg.

Good player. He’s a very useful batsman too

Seems official replacement for Rashid Khan now

Before winning the last two editions of PSL, Lahore used to regularly miss out on the playoffs, often finishing bottom. I think they will finish last again this season. They have been brutally exposed without Rashid Khan.

This team selection and the bowlers they've got are just not up to the mark.

Zaman Khan went for 48 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket, Mohammad Imran Jnr conceded 41 runs in 4 overs without any wickets, and Jahandad Khan only managed 1 wicket for 22 runs in 2 overs against Peshawar Zalmi.

Honestly, are they serious? Coming into PSL 9 with this kind of bowling lineup is a real letdown. They seriously need to reconsider their strategy.

Can LQ still change their fortunes? 🤔
====
Qalandars have lost all five of their matches thus far in the league. Moreover, they are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table.

To keep their playoff dreams alive, Lahore must secure victories in all of their remaining five matches, aiming to accumulate a total of 10 points. Historically, in PSL tournaments, 10 points have been the benchmark for playoff qualification.

Aaqib Javed, the head coach of Lahore Qalandars while talking to the media said:

"We can still turn the impossible into possible; if we have lost five matches, we can win the next five,"

"The current conditions offer an equal playing field for all teams, there is no advantage to any team if they bat first or second."

"Bowlers like Haris Rauf are scarce; they are the backbone of Lahore Qalandars and Pakistan's bowling,"

"We have a history of doing impossible things so we can fight back this time too,"

"The strategies can sometimes work or go against. The team knows what to do now and is confident to make a comeback."

Regarding star player Rashid Khan, Javed acknowledged the scrutiny he faces, stating, "Rashid Khan has no alternative; we are missing him so is every team."

Looking very tough for LQ.

This season, the Qalandars are having a tough time because Rashid Khan isn't there. Also, they keep changing the batting order with Abdullah Shafique, Sikandar Raza, Ahsan Hafeez, and Shai Hope, making things all shaky and without a solid combo. The once strong bowlers, like Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, aren't doing great in PSL 9, having a hard time staying on top and getting wickets like they used to.

Lahore Qalandars are teetering on the brink of elimination in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.

Shaheen-led Qalandars has endured a string of defeats in their campaign thus far. With six losses in as many matches, the two-time champions find themselves languishing at the bottom of the points table, desperately seeking a turnaround in fortunes to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Qalandars next challenge comes in the form of a crucial match against Babar Azam's Peshawar Zalmi. This match will be extremely important for them, as they must secure win to maintain any semblance of hope for playoff qualification. In order to stay in contention, Qalandars need to win all four of their remaining matches, securing a total of eight points. However, their path to the playoffs is fraught with obstacles, as they also rely on favorable outcomes in other fixtures to strengthen their chances.

So after 6 losses... LQ think it's time for a comeback?

They were sleeping for 6 games. The dream was broken for them so they had to wake up and come to the real world. They are out of this Season.

Finally one point for LQ (thanks to a rained off game)

Defending Champions Lahore Qalandars are the first team to be eliminated from PSL 2024.

This happened just like it happened with England in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

As per reports, South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen will play his last match for Lahore Qalandars tonight against Islamabad United in the PSL 9.

The 34-year-old was available for eight matches only and is leaving to participate in Cricket South Africa's domestic T20 tournament, CSA T20 Challenge.
