What's new

Leeds United | 2020/21 Season

Very important and impressive win today.

But the injuries are a big concern: Seems like the other new signings Rodrigo and Raphinha joins Koch and Llorente on the injury list. Bamford was also showing discomfort in the end.

Another impressing win. Just incredible to see a newly promoted team running over established PL teams.

Raphinha showed his class yet again. If we can keep our place, we could have a very interesting summer transfer wise.

Not really thinking about the relegation zone anymore. For the first time this season, lol. This team is seriously emerging now and it can go far. Palace are an established, long-term and reasonably consistent Premier League side — and yet last night Leeds could easily have beaten them 6-nil.

Safety guaranteed now, what a return its been. Fantastic.

Can now really look forward to blockbuster games vs Liverpool, City, United without any pressure. Bring it on!

Assuming we keep the core of the squad (Alioski, Berardi, Hernandez the only likely departures this summer) and sign in the areas we need and apparently are priortising (Left back, Phillips cover, another centre midfielder to replace Klich), we look like we could genuinely challenge for the Top 8.

Played well against Fulham and can start thinking about next season in the Premier League.

I wonder if a few teams will be sniffing around the better players Leeds have.

I wonder if a few teams will be sniffing around the better players Leeds have.

I think Raphinha and Kalvin-Phillips will be attractive in the summer.

But there is a massive project going on in Leeds and Phil Hay has reported Leeds will look to sign 5 players in the summer, so Lees would want all the top players to stay, but some will definately leave and I think Alioski is one of them and there are also reports saying Helder Costa will be released, and by selling him Leeds will get some much needed cash.

Although it wasn’t the perfect footballing performance and our passing in midfield — as well as our defending, as per usual — was quite messy at times, I was actually really impressed by the team’s *resilience* against Fulham.

We were particularly unlucky to have Ayling’s beautiful early goal chalked off by yet another pathetic VAR ruling, but the team didn’t let it affect them at all, and both of the goals we scored either side of the equaliser were lovely. Meslier made some absolutely brilliant saves and was on top form, commanding his area.

Leeds were ultimately deserved and relatively comfortable winners against what I thought was a pretty ordinary Fulham side; looks like it will be between them and Newcastle for the final relegation space.

39 points will surely have sealed our Premier League place for next season now, so let’s relax and have some fun in the remaining fixtures.

Marcelo Bielsa: Leeds United boss holds contract talks with club

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has held talks with the club over a new contract and is "not considering alternatives."

The Argentine, 65, who has been at Leeds since 2018, signed a one-year deal 24 hours before the start of the current season in September.

He reiterated he would decide his future after the final game of the season, at home to West Brom on Sunday.

"The evaluation of the continuity of a manager is such a delicate decision," he said.

But he added: "I can't not say I have revised with the authorities of the club all the variables that means to carry on.

"I am not considering any alternative option. I am being sincere, I do not have alternative options."

Leeds have also announced that Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi, who helped he club win promotion to the Premier League in 2020, will leave the club in the summer.

Swiss defender Berardi has become Leeds' longest-serving first-team player since arriving in 2014.

The 32-year-old, who suffered a serious knee injury at the end of last season, made his Premier League debut against Southampton on Tuesday.

Spanish midfielder Hernandez, 36, has made 16 appearances this season.

"Both players have had a huge impact and will go down in history," a Leeds statement read.

"Both will always be welcome back at Elland Road."
