The golden rule in any team game - Offense wins game, defense wins Ring (That was Red Aurbacher's comment, the Boston Celtic Head Coach, who won 8-9 consecutive NBA - you can replace Ring with Title for soccer).

So far 5 points lost for the Yanks not spending enough for the back line - 2 against Spurs & 3 here. Also, Karius is proving why he was available for 4.5 million; when Juve spent 35mn in 2001 market for someone called Gianluigi Buffon.

Money doesn't ensure success - BUT, without spending, you don't even have a shot at the title. Those Yanks have no emotional attachment with Liverpool Club or Soccer as a game - it's just a business tool for them. They have brought the best Manager for that - Klopp will keep LFC in Champions League spot with a "Net Positive" window, for the Yanks to fill their coffer & they'll keep selling the best players - Torres, Suarez, Starling ....... next inline is Coutinho & Firminho - then Klopp will spend fraction of that to bring next batch of U23 potentials. These same Yank bunch is spending crazy for Ortiz or David Price for their beloved Boston Red Sox.

Terrible to hear. American businessmen of this sort should be kept far away from football. Let them stick to their gimmicky NFL nonsense.
 
It's pathetic how our inept defence surrenders at the first sign of pressure from the opposition. That is our weak point that has to be addressed as do our two terrible goalies. From being comfortable at 1-3 we gave away about three goals in ten minutes or something. I am devastated....heartbroken.I won't be able to swallow my dinner tonight:danish We score plenty of goals but seldom keep them out at our end. This philosophy of scoring more then the opposition will not always succeed. By depending on this we are covering cracks with wallpaper. Now suddenly we find ourselves third in the league four points behind the leaders. Forwards did there jobs where as the defence and keeper let us down, again.
 
The most devastating result for many years. Hopefully Klopp will realise the defence needs a change.

Everton will once again try the physical approach as they did against Arsenal but Liverpool have strong players who can handle this type of game. If we play have decent we should create enough chances to win the game easily.
 
Everton always play a very physical game against Liverpool in their attempts to make up for being less skillful. Our defence will be tested for sure. We'll score at least once, the test will be to keep the ball out from our net.
 
Said from day one sturidge isn't a player who fits in the pressing and high intensity game klopp wants to play.
 
Another poor performance leading to a 0-1 defeat against Southampton. There seemed to be plenty of possession without much penetration. Thanks to our keeper for once we were lucky to come away only having conceded one. On another day it could easily have been three. Mane's absence is being felt as well as the small size of the squad. If according to reports Jurgen Klopp has £40 million to spend this month he should go ahead and buy a few instead of waiting until transfer deadline day. Good news is we now have an almost fully fit squad with Coutinho, Can and Sturridge all back.

Yes, huge fan been following the team for a very very longtime. The team is looking potent for the first time since Suarez's departure. Shaky defence, but Milner has been a Godsend at LB, Clyne has been solid for a while but not much cover for him if he gets injured apart from changing Milner to the right flank. Gomez is coming back from injury and he was never a fullback even though Rodgers played him there, Moreno just doesn't look the part defensively anymore. A lot depends on Lovren and Matip at the back, Klavan still has much to prove. Midfield is gold with cover for most players, most creative team in world football atm not just epl, but way too wasteful upfront, no cutting edge. Goals are only being scored because of ridiculous amount of creativity. Apart from Sturridge there is no proven goalscorer but he seems under confident from being out of the team and is way too injury-prone. Origi has a lot too prove, Ings could fit in well if he's ever fit. Firmino may score goals but he's not a natural finisher. The team needs defensive stability and a proper striker who can finish and works a lot off the ball, someone like a Mandzukic. The main man in this team is not one of the players but the manager himself. Best manager since Dalglish/Fagan/Paisley (Bootroom) carries the crowd and propels the team ahead, epl is brutally tough but Klopp can deliver ucl football and maybe even challenge for the league. Future is bright and could have been much better had it not been for those rascals hicks and gillette!
 
Took a big risk in playing such an inexperienced side against Plymouth. It was a boring match with hardly any chances until they hit the post then Origi misses a penalty. We're in the next round which is the only thing that matters. Everything is quiet for us on the transfer front. Now for Swansea in the league followed by the second leg of the Cup match.
 
Keep losing to the so called weaker teams in the Premiership.

Defeats to Burnley, Bournemouth and Swansea in the league this season.
 
Same old problems have come to the fore once again. After starting the season off well we are struggling to score goals. This has been the case with Liverpool over the past many seasons where a good start has been ruined by a mid season crises where within a few week's we're eliminated from many competitions. Today again we huffed and puffed against a well organised Southampton side. The few chances we created didn't lead to anything, Sturridge put a sitter over the bar. I think we were denied a penalty just before they scored when Origi was tripped in the box. Over all Southampton deserved to go through to the final.
 
A shame you guys lost. I was hoping we get to beat you guys at Wembley to win the league cup.
 
Looks like the wheels are well and truly coming off for Liverpool.

Wonder if they will struggle to finish in the top four of the EPL as their title chances are looking rather bleak at the moment.

This is the problem with Klopp's all-out, high-energy brand of football, eventually players are worn out.

Another pathetic performance by the team. Few days back we were fighting in three competitions and now eliminated from two and more or less out of the title race. Players seem tired most likely due to Jurgen's tactics. The Dutch Football coach is also holding the manager's tactics as being responsible for our incredible slump in form http://www.koptalk.com/liverpool-fc-news/raymond-verheijen-klopp-not-clue/

Even before Jurgen took charge it was rather normal for Liverpool to have a good start to the season then collapse like they have again within the space of a few matches. It more or less happens every season that one minutes we are in all competitions then few days later eliminated from them all. This being the case it may be something more deep rooted then tactics alone. My own theory is a very poor defence that can be penetrated by a school boy side which the manager fails to address. We have goals in us, just can't keep them out from our end.
 
Burn out is a smokescreen for the real truth which is the weak defence. Conte fixed Chelsea but Klopp has pretended this problem doesn't exist, he needs to be brave and accept what requires a huge change.

But knowing Liverpool, we will beat Chelsea on Tuesday.

He's lost pace after all those injuries, his average top speed since he was at Chelsea has gone down at an alarming rate.

Mane is back though and I feel like we'll struggle to beat Liverpool. I think they'll win again.

That's the problem with Yanks, they have this remarkable arrogance and belief in American exceptionalism. FSG think they're the smartest kids in class who can somehow cheat the system with their Moneyball claptrap.

Young talent on its own is insufficient, you need to buy ready made players otherwise the very few good players you've got will run out of patience.
 
Our manager brought Dortmund to the brink of relegation in 2014-15 yet he's hailed by our lot as the next Bill Shankly.

Compare that to Benitez who broke the Barca-Madrid duopoly in La Liga with Valencia, a superior league to the Bundesliga, and won multiple European trophies. I'd take Rafa back in a heartbeat.
 
FSG's yes men computer nerd scouts are a cancer. These scouts like Michael Edwards have thrown Dalglish, Rodgers and now Klopp under the bus with their appalling failure to identify quality talent and build a squad.

And yet Michael Edwards gets a promotion. The managers have changed under FSG but the recruitment is still the same - lacking in ambition and woefully underwhelming.

You buy mid table players then don't be surprised we finish mid table.

That is exactly what I am crying about that the owners are only interested in Red Sox, nothing else. They have no clue in how to run a Football club in today's day and age getting Klopp to sign second rate players who just are not good enough. I fear that should serious investment not be made then we can say goodbye to Coutinho as well who must be looking over at Barcelona enviously. Klopp can not perform miracles with pennies thrown to him yet be expected to finish in the top four. No manager is going to win anything with our crap squad full of average players, we don't have even one world class player in the entire squad. Said it before that either the owners should give Klopp serious cash to spend or sell up and get out.

Always like coming back to this video. Not many lads wearing suits on the Kop these days !

The clip encapsulates the Swinging Sixties and the cultural vibrancy of the city at the time. It was a much younger crowd too whereas now the average age of your matchgoing fan is above 40. You could easily rock up to the ground and pay at the gate.

Also its incredible how British society has changed over the years. The Kop is so white ! Like most English grounds at the time, football grounds weren't really a place for BMEs and racism was sadly rife. Thankfully attitudes have changed and its nice to see plenty of Black and Asian lads at the grounds these days.
 
Tired of this false 9 rubbish. Play a proper striker who's a consistent, clinical goalscorer.

We'd have to sign one first.

I know we're the league's top scorers but the goals are concentrated in the first half of the season.

You can see why neither City and Liverpool are winning the league this season, so easy to get through the defences and create chances time and again. Surprised more goals weren't conceded.
 
Exciting match versus City today full of missed chances and all. Still can't get over how Lallana missed that sitter then again they had plenty off chances as well with Sterling being denied a clear cut penalty. Beginning to lose hope in Origi as well as Sturridge now hoping at least one will be moved on in the summer. Again the major problems are against the so called lesser teams, could be psychological. We matched City attack for attack today in what in the end was a fair result.
 
That Lallana miss today though :)) Firmino started celebrating as soon as he passed it to Lallana lol
 
Former first team coach and assistant manager Ronnie Moran has died this morning.

An instrumental figure in the Boot Room that was key to sustaining Liverpool's success in the 70s and 80s.

Not afraid to pull up any of the big players if he felt they were falling short of the standards expected of them. A loyal servant of Liverpool Football Club who'll never be forgotten.

RIP Ronnie.

One of my favourite Moran stories is how after winning a league title, he'd be put in charge of handing out the medals to the players.

Contrast this to the Dortmund win last year where we were going around taking selfies and celebrating as if we'd won the UEFA Cup already.
 
Great result, game was more open than expected and we took full advantage. Everton afforded too much space and we took advantage. Clinical in front of goal today.

Feels like the season is back on track after the horror shows at the start of the year. Credit to the manager and the players.

I'm sure Ronnie Moran would've been proud.
 
Coutinho bossed the match today that is a concern as Barcelona have an eye on him. We did't miss Lallana like I thought we would, Emre and Lucas had them in their pockets. Mane and Firminio were also good for us. That Ross Barkley is a dirty player who should have been sent off for two horror tackles. In the last derby he also got excused for a terrible tackle on Henderson. Man Utd drew at home, they need to win their two games in hand with one versus Man City to equal us on points.
 
I think Liverpool will finish second when Spurs inevitably choke, maybe even first if we choke against City, United and Everton. The loss to Palace has made this too close for comfort.
 
Could have more or less sealed a top four finish today had we not conceded a late equalizer against Bournemouth. With Arsenal winning and Man Utd drawing yesterday it is now in the open again. We are no doubt missing the likes of Lallana and Mane even Henderson but should have defeated Bournemouth on home patch. This shows that the squad is still to small compared to that of other sides. Klopp needs to buy big in the summer especially if we make it in to any Euro competition that we should. Other then Sakho, Moreno and possibly Sturridge we should not sell anyone else. If we let three go then must replace them and sign four or five in addition to that.
 
liverpool have top 4 sewn up. such an easy run in compared to every1 else.

Can't bear this team anymore. The way we defend - we have to score 2 or 3 every game to be certain of winning.

That's unsustainable.

Injuries have piled up, top four finish looking very uncertain.
 
Surprised to see us win this one. Still have a realistic chance of being in the top four although Arsenal and Man Utd have games in hand. They can go level with us if they win them.
 
That was a massive win yesterday. The lineup looked terrible but the subs made the difference. Mignolet made some vital saves.

With Arsenal winning in midweek and Utd winning today, those three points at Stoke could prove crucial.

Now there's an eight day break from Stoke to the West Brom match.
 
Big win that. Pulis teams away have been notoriously difficult for us. Solidifying our place in top four.
 
Another good win by the boys in red although should have won by a greater margin. What on earth was Moreno thinking of by trying that shot late on when their keeper was stranded and Studge was in the clear. Just had to pass it for it to be 2-0. Could have been a symbolic thing with it most likely that none of these two will be at Anfield next season. Not celebrating top four just yet with the two Manchester's on our tail with both having a few games in hand over us.
 
Benteke returns to haunt another terrible performance from our joke of a defence. It is imperative that Liverpool finish in the top four for two reasons. Firstly, the top players want to play in the Champions League. Also because we won't be able to pay them the wages they demand if we are not in the Champions League. The squad looked incredibly thin with nothing on the subs bench overly depending on Coutinho who must be questioning his future at Anfield. I do realise that in Mane, Henderson, Lallana and Ings we are currently without some major players. Sturridge again injured with a hip problem, I am sick of this boy's injuries now.

Watford are very poor defensively they can't even defend against 10 man Hull. If Liverpool don't win I'll be shocked.
 
Goal of the season and the one that can take Liverpool to the champions league next season. Not a good performance but all that matters now as we reach the end of the season are three more wins.

Liverpool have to make it to top 4 now, it'd be poor for them to miss out.
 
Liverpool have to make the top four. If the transfer budget of £200 million is true and they secure a place in next years Champions League then can attract the players they need to challenge for the title. Priority has to be given to defence and a few forwards as well. It is also so important that we retain Coutinho as well.
 
We're not Champions League standard, we'd get embarrassed there.

You could see how turgid our team looked when you saw the lineups, we've SEEN how turgid this team looks creatively and offensively when they've started BEFORE yet Jurgen the Revolutionary persists with it anyway.

A midfield of Lucas, Can and Wijnaldum won't break down a team defending deep in their own half.

Poor selections, poor substitutions and a poor result to boot.
 
I would rather be in the Champions League then not. We will probably struggle in it if we do qualify however it is a great incentive to attract top players in the summer. Klopp is guilty of not signing anyone in the January window that is partly to blame for our demise after such a good start to the season. This could again be seen against Southampton where the lack of squad strength was again exposed. Even if we do sign top class players fr next season it will take them time to settle in to how Klopp plays.
 
Think Divock Origi has been exposed. I remember a few years ago when he was loaned out to Lille he was in L'Equipe's Worst XI.

Doesn't make the right runs, doesn't go for winnable headers and his goal return has been poor this season.

We really need at least one if not two strikers this summer. Sick of this false 9 rubbish. Also need more width as we're too narrow against teams parking the bus - Mane's the only one who can go on the outside and take on a full-back.
 
Feels like the run-in to the 1999-00 season when we bottled top 4 on the last day of the season to Bradford City.

We're basically coasting on our form in the first half of the season when nobody took us seriously after the dismal season last year. Since the turn of the year, we've played 17, won 7, drawn 6 and lost 4.

Both City and United will be stronger next season with Guardiola and Mourinho going into their second seasons so we won't be as lucky with them dropping points as regularly as they have this season.

I'm sure we'll sign a few more Southampton players, at vastly overpriced fees, then act all shocked next season that we finish mid-table like Southampton.

What I don't understand is why we don't just sign these players before Southampton do. Our scouts don't seem to pay attention to football outside the Premier League.

Hammers were denied a stone wall penalty just before we got the second. It is a crucial win that should mean qualification for the CL if we don't lose to Middlesbrough. Part of me still wants Sturridge to stay after he scores goals like today. I am also worried that Coutinho head is being turned by Barcelona. We need to bring in some serious talent in the summer no what what happens.

It was 'comparatively' a good season.Though there's still a lot of room for improvement but 'boyz' did show a lot of commitment and things are looking good for the future.As the saying goes Wo subah kabhi to ayegi :)
