LPL commentary: Ramiz Raja and Amir Sohail’s hit agenda against flamboyant, attacking openers

I have been watching this year’s Lanka Premier League very closely because of the large amount of Pakistan overseas players participating, many of them who feature in the first XI.

Listening very carefully to Ramiz Raja and Aamir Sohail (two senior commentators of the league), I am absolutely ashamed at how they have been going unnoticed with their constant jabs against opening batters who want to go hard from ball 1 (which is the actual purpose of the powerplay) whilst continuously singing songs of praises for Test match accumulator style openers!

Ramiz and Sohail had it in for them against Gurbaz, Harris, Fakhar and more players who showed intent from the first over. Ramiz even today said that “you should see yourself in at the crease in the first 3 overs and then go for it”.

What planet is this guy living on? How is he allowed to get away with this nonsense? No wonder he was such a failed chairman and is now purposely saying things to back his support for rubbish T20 players like Babar, Shan and Rizwan.

But then again, fair is fair. When you have guys like Simon Doull causing this pedigree of cricket fans pain with his truth, I suppose people like me should suck it in as well. None the less, the nonsense and hit agenda needs to be called out.

Big slap on his and Aamir Sohail’s face as Colombo Strikers proved to be the worst side of the tournament with their two accumulator openers (Babar and Nisanka)!

No one should be surprised at all. One guy holds the record of the slowest hundred in international white ball history, which I am sure will never ever be broken. Even Azhar Ali & Pujara are incapable of scoring 160 ball hundreds! Other one believes Pakistan should have won all the world cups from 96-03 (basically disregarding the GOAT Aussies) & the only reason they didn't win those was because Wasim was always consipiring !!! You don't have to be super smart to understand that if RizBar could have played the modern style (or if they were capable of) these guys would have shamelessly changed their tunes. Another reason why these two remain delusional regarding modern batting is because their tuktuk brand played a part in 92 glory. As long as Pak don't win another wc these two & countless more will continue to believe that "92" blueprint is the way to go.

Both Rizwan and Babar went unsold in the hundred draft. They are not seen to be good enough to play at the high levels. They will to unsold in an IPL auction as well if that ever happens for Pakistanis.

No Mr Warrior it doesn’t add up, especially with no actual silverware to show for it. Besides that, they have been useless when it truly matters for Pakistan. We saw that clearly in the last World Cup.

Babar has the most runs in this season's LPL and also the most impact runs as per CI. He's striking better than the likes of Mendis, Fakhar, Gurbaz. Good to see the PCT captain getting into form. It was a wise decision to play LPL over Global T20

Simply, he scored the majority of runs for his team. Also had a century in an epic chase which probably gave him a huge boost in the rankings.

Apparently Ramiz said on commentary that the reason why Afghanistan reached the Semi final is because they have two openers like Babar and Rizwan…
