They are both fantastic openers and their attacking style of play is prcirsely which is required for a modern day opener!

Truly blessed with natural talent and how to accelerate in the early part of the innings!

If I were Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, Shehzad, Umar Akmal etc. Inwould make sure to spend a LOT of time with Roy and Hales and try to get tips and advice from them on how they can develop their game.

I don't want to be that guy but...... Jason Roy played last season too

Hales is a pure shot maker who will do wonders on a flat pitch.

It is no surprise he is the only English batsman to have a century in the T20 format.

His style of play is worth its weight in gold in the shorter formats.

So many conditions for hales to perform....

The pitch must be flat.

The format must be short.

The format must be T20.

The bowlers must be toothless....

.... And some people are delusional calling him a hack.

Hahaha LOL this is one of the best posts in this thread so far...Hales - Conditions apply

Wouldn't Hales and Roy be busy playing in Australia in Feb/March? For how many matches they are available?

2 brilliant signings. Hope they do play a part for there teams. People calling Hales a hack, fact is he would get into our LO team easily lol.

Need to sign more forneigers like this. Still in the peaks of there career who can play the modem way.

Yes the young batsmen can learn a lot from opening the innings with batsmen such as Hales, Roy, Evin Lewis and even Chris Lynn and Colin Munro

Hales is a David Warner type basher who have been very successful in this era.

Agreed to OP, fantastic LOI players but you missed Lynn in the title, that man is a monster

Might as well use this thread to show how Hales's ODI career really has been the definition of a career of 2 halves so far :

First 20 innings : Average 20.90 @ 88.74
Last 32 innings : Average 49.62 @ 99.24

I do not know much about Chris Lynn - but will keep a close watch on him! :)

Don't expect Lynn to do much if it's a slow pitch with the slightest amount of turn. He's a proper hack against spin.

Hales is a hack and struggles big time against spinners.

he will struggle against teams that open the bowling with spinners.

I realized that Hales was also caught up in the Stokes drama. Will he even be allowed to play?

Hales was involved but stokes was the only one who got arrested and has criminal charges on him.

If you look at the video you’ll see that hales didn’t do much in the entire incident.

Hales and Roy will definitely raise the bar for the batsmen in PSL. Chris Lynn although I am doubtful would be of much use. Firstly cause he is coming off a shoulder injury, so he will be sorta undercooked. Secondly conditions of IPL and PSL are totally different. PSL is more of a bowler friendly competition with scores of 150 being defendable, Lynn isnt really known to be a grinder and someone who can hold himself back. I feel he will succumb to spin this PSL.

Both of them are hacks but hacks are the best T20 batsmen. Fakhar and Umar Akmal should definitely get some tips from them but keep Babar, Haris, Salahuddin, Imam and Sarfaraz far away from them.

I haven't followed the PSL news recently so don't blast me for not knowing whether or not all the abovementioned players are taking part or not.

How much of the PSL are they even going to play ? Don't England have a T20I tri-series with Australia and New Zealand around this time ?

Didn’t Hales just have a very strong season in first-class cricket? Agree that he certainly was a hack, and maybe he still is, but there is a possibility that he has improved recently.

Hales won't suit to UAE kind of pitches and it's irrelevant to take advice from someone like Hales although he is doing a fine job as a player in England but given the context, taking advices from Hales on how to develop as a player is irrelevant to discuss about.
