It's just an attack by some random loony. If the christian community and prime ministers of several countries came out and subtly justified his attack, the english media would cover it like they did with the other France attacks.

The reason why there's less coverage is obvious. When a mentally ill person murders 2 people, while terrible, it isn't nearly as shocking as the person was mentally ill and deluded. When a seemingly normal citizen beheads someone for showing a cartoon, then that is definitely more newsworthy, especially when the actions are directly against the values of the country they live in.

Majority of the ISIS attacks are also done by loons. You know people claiming to Muslims can also have mental illness right?

First of all no one really justified the attacks and this seem like one of your usual outlandish statements that you can’t back up.

Anyways even if we take your word for it , the attacks done by “Muslims” got live, almost play by play coverage. Did the media have a vision that a PM will eventually “justify” the attack?

Couldn't agree more that every killer is a loon. The coverage for official mental loons is usually low because nobody is aspiring to be mental patient. However, with the religious killer loons, there are many wannabes that cite texts and get triggered very easily thinking death is better than life. Those tend to get more coverage because it's fascinating to civilized world that there still exist people like that in this day and age.

You guys twist and turn a lot when it comes to Islam and Muslims. No need for the double standards, murder should be condemned equally no matter if the perpetrators motives fit into your agenda or not.

Media coverage will depend on the history of attacks like these. There is precedent for this - Charlie Hebdo, Danish Cartoons, Samlan Rushdie and the resulting outrage worldwide from islamic countries. Some things are just predictable.

By and large, these are same excuses Muslim countries were using some 30 years ago at a time when they needed to act and punish the culprits. Because of these excuses and dissociation, World has seen enough violence which could have been avoided.

Leaders of Western World need to wake up and act NOW. Dissociating excuses will just empower supremism.

That study was for the US, but it likely could be similar here. Islamic terrorist attacks happen a lot, meaning that each instance will likely get a lot of coverage. Perhaps they are too over-reported, I am happy to concede that, but let's not act like most world leaders don't act aloof and shy away from the fact that they were radical Islamists.

You obviously misunderstood what I mean. There is a difference between a crazy guy killing some people, and a religiously motivated attack, which was a direct response to freedom of speech and expression. Especially when the attacker posted a picture of the severed head online, and sent a message to the leader of the country. You have to admit that is far more newsworthy, especially when there were talks of Islamic extremism a few days/weeks prior to it occurring.

Just because I'm critical of Islam, and other religions, it doesn't mean I have an agenda. I just want it to be known that there are real problems with following scripture literally, and that in the Islamic community especially, there are huge, huge radicalisation problems, even if it's just implicit justification of violence in the name of Islam (the number of people that wanted something to happen to Macron after the projection of the images was astounding).
