Moeen Ali - Performance Watch

Moeen will be a good LOI all rounder. On flatter LOI pitches his problems vs Spin and the short stuff wont be exposed as much.

Just started his international career but he is overrated? He bowled well this series against India, lets give him a few more series before we say he is overrated, I don't see him being a great bowler but using the word overrated is a bit too soon

He is only sensible about some things. He does spout a lot of rubbish too. He is sensible for those who dont like Pakistam because he constantly puts down our players team country and doesnt overhype our players like a lot of fans do. Sometimes he is right to do thia but he does attention seek at times.

not really i have seen he always gives a reason for his opinions.....since it is the harsh truth most pakistani fans don't like it.....obviously he gets it wrong sometimes but we all do don't we

He is no different to any Pakistani expert. They all think they are right and know best. Plus they keep backing their favourites through thick and thin and claim they have a third eye for spotting talent.

He does deliver some harsh truths that is true But for example when someone he doesnt rate performs well he rarely gives them credit or remains silent. But as soon as they have a bad performance he jumps all over them bumping threads that isnt what you call a sensible poster. He claims to have no bias towards any player which evidently isnt true. And when you make claims like i am above average intelligence i am always right i have a special eye for talent. then when you are wrong you should expect to get ripped.

Anyone who thinks Wahab is as good as Johnson is supremely deluded. He will never be half the bowler Johnson was pre-Ashes but he can be a similar bowler for us.

Attacking and hostile.
 
He will find it really tough as time goes on. Opposition will do their homework on him. His batting has already been found out since that Sri Lanka 100 and bowling lets be honest India are just being complacent and has been lucky so far.
 
If England dont want to drop him because of his bowing, then he should come after Butler to bat.

you are probably not watching the matches. Or your love for India is blinding your judgement.

As a batsman Moen Ali with that much failure, is still averaging more than Gambhir, Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Dhawan in the test series. He can easily replace any of these batsman and India will be happy about it.

lol you are calling me blind... kohli might be in bad form but you seriously think moen is better than him lol.....are you out of your mind....let me put things in perspective...the indian batsman are playing in alien conditions and are mentally drained due to continuous pressure created by english bowlers.....where as moen is playing at home in a team which is at top...and still failing...wow
 
We have exposed him as a mediocre batsman now its time to show him his place as third class spinner in the second innings.

My post was about the current series.

Also dont make excuses about alien conditions for Indian batsmen. All of the Indian batsmen I mentioned have played in England before the current tour. And the current Test is actually 5th test of the tour. The alien condition excuse does not fly.

nope they haven't if you are talking test cricket...most are very new and inexperienced.
 
Has a very bright future in front of him. England need to start treating him like a star and bat him at #3 and give him attacking fields in ODIs.

He averages 30 and 40 in List A in the wrong order, doubt he'll get too far in ODI cricket but best of luck nonetheless.
 
Think he will be a better LOI cricketer than in Tests. On flatter pitches his trouble against the short ball and spin wont be exposed as much. It showed in the last ODI when he played the Indian spinners comfortably. when they were owning him in the test series.

his average is misleading. He was mediocre for a while and then suddenly he he became a beast in County Cricket.

Moeen bhai is a mediocre cricketer. People need to accept that.
 
The innings I saw him play at Edgbaston I doubt many Pakistanis could play like that.
 
Its more like a fact. Poor against spin and can't handle the short ball either.

His bowling is nothing special and has been made to look better than he is thanks to some careless batting by the overconfident Indians.

A mediocre imitation of Hafeez.

Scoring 50 in an ODI with a plus 100 S/R is considered not special now, but if you consider the context in which he came out to bat and how the rest of the entire team looked lost. Showed that he does have some decent ability
 
Moeen is a good cricketer he has potential in the shorter formats. In Tests i think he will get found out though especially his batting.

Edgbaston is notoriously full of South Asians and Eng can expect to be boo'ed every time, but hurling abuse to the likes of bopara, saj mahmood and Moe is unacceptable. At the end of the day it's only sport but when peeps start to abuse and say things like "traitor" is baffling. I don't know maybe those brown people feel like they are not accepted in this country anyhow you still live here and you can't pissss where you eat, so yeah despite it's only sport maybe Moe is right we should not be booing England let alone abusing players of south asian origin.

Support England when it isn't pak, you "TRAITOR" :)) same here tbh although i'd like to support the team that's winning, tbh it's easier for me to route for the underdog and 99.9% of the time pak are always the underdogs when they face Eng.

He's a hardworker chatted to him at a club game like a year or two ago at the time when he was starting to score like a beast on the county scene, he was like not sure about my England chances but am trying my best hopefully inshaAllah i get selected. I think he beleived in himself but never felt he'd get a chance but with the retirement of KP he got that window of opportunity. Defo a fantastic prospect for England, can end up being an awesome utility cricketer given his versatility.

Can bat in the top or middle order and even play as a specialist spinner if required. I'd see him as Batsman mainly though everything he does with the ball is a big bonus, you know there was a time in the countys where he didn't know where his off stump was Moe was leaving balls and getting bowled but he overcame that and when you are able to rectify such mistakes on the county scene i think it just shows if given an extended run he'd find a way eventually to overcome any flaws at the Test Level as a batsman.

His development as a bowler has been surprising though :ajmal i hope he can maintain this consistency.

Whoever is playing, my shitty guilty conscience always makes me support the opposition...This always happens except when its India lol. The SL series in the UAE made me feel sorry for the Lankans but next thing you know they were throwing us around like ragdolls.

Moeen is definitely a hard worker and his success would revolutionise English Cricket for British Pakistanis- with him you'll see plenty more who would aspire to play for England too as well as getting selected. Considering Englands spin state, he is definitely on the cards as a front line spinner alone too. I would have him either open or bat near the finisher role since he's shown glimpses of promise in both positions. Plus his pressure handling is also a very good aspect about him. The only notable flaw of his is the short ball which he should work on like he worked on the off stump issue like you stated.
Long has it been since we've seen a potential allrounder in tests :ik2

to be fair honest Pakistani's have the biggest hearts
we lost to India in 2004 in our homeland but still we cheered and applauded indians

that looks a very solid batting team, not sure why keep England do not stick with it.

Stokes/Woakes/Jordan should be competing for the 3rd seamer role alongside Anderson and Broad, they have not shown enough quality with the bat to be considered genuine all-rounders.
